Chapter 40  Blessed Orc

Chapter 40  Blessed Orc

40  Blessed Orc

Tanned skin, a wrinkled face, a long gray beard, murky eyes, and a tattoo on his neck. These were the features of the man who was old, but what froze Cristian were the tusks poking out of his lips.

His head kept ringing as only one monster or in Lia's terms. Only one race has these features. "Are you an orc?"

The wrinkles on the man's face multiplied as he glared at this vibrant, young but definitely foolish young man. It felt insulting for someone to inspect him and ask if he was an orc.

"Are you a human?" the old man scoffed and Cristian coughed in embarrassment. 'I'm not human though,' he uttered internally.

"I'll be taking my leave," the strange orc said curtly and turned, but Cristian did not kill this beast just because it aimed for him.

This orc looked like an experienced hunter, which could explain why he could hold back a fanged tiger with a dagger.

"You can repay me by roasting this beast." The Orc paused, and Cristian heard a gulp. 'Oh. so he was hungry, eh.' he snickered inwardly, for the Orc would not reject since his stomach now ruled his thoughts.

"I'm coming." With that, the Orc vanished into the bushes, leaving him stunned. "Dammit, he ran away." Cursing, he picked up a stone and flung it in the direction the orc went.

"Ouch!" a yelp echoed and the old orc came out holding its forehead. "Did you throw the stone?"

"I thought you ran," Cristian answered with a shrug, sat on the ground, and leaned against a tree.

His brows rose when he saw the leather bag the man was back with. At first, it did not attract his attention, but when the orc dropped it. Cristian swore it squirmed.

Something was inside the bag, but it did not want to come out as the orc didn't seal the mouth. Curiosity slowly ate him up, but in the end, he swallowed his questions and stared at the man skinning the meat.

"Old man," Cristian called out and the old man raised his head. "Do you know where the Sea of Flames is?"

Cristian just wanted to try his luck and if it brought a violent reaction, he would brush it off as something he heard.

The orc gazed at him for a while and continued to skin the tiger.

"So you're one of those brave ones that seek to see the fabled Sea of Flames. Well, if you seek the Sea of Flames, then head deeper until you see a being called Path, but beware of the Forest Walker; Luc de Haan." Even while he spoke, the orc focused on this soon-to-be dinner.

"The Forest Walker, huh? Is that what the system told you?" Cristian scoffed. The Orc's expression changed as it gazed at him. Utterly baffled by his strange words. "Who is the system?"

"Wait what! You don't know what the system is? It's this screen that appears in our eyes." with enormous eyes Cristian almost slapped himself as the old Orc shook his head.

"Stop being a delusional kid. The Forest Walker exists, and he has killed many. Their bones will tell their tales if you dare to go deep."

His deep voice and trembling eyes told Cristian that this Orc had seen a lot, but the fear he had for this Forest walker made his brows knot.

'Is it a monster or a sentient being?' he queried inwardly, for he was pretty sure the Orc had not met the Forest Walker, or he would be dead.

the Forest Walker, or he would be dead.

'He must be a blessed Orc.' he thought while trying to make sure the Orc didn't sense his gaze.

Cristian couldn't comprehend how this man had no knowledge of the system and why would Origin send him to a dimension where everyone was clueless about the system?

Deep within, he subconsciously thought of Origin as the system and his previous thoughts were The Mother stood above the system, but right now, he wasn't sure.

Raising his head, his brows arched as the skies were dark red with a few streaks of orange that seemed like burning flames.

'Red sky? Is that why the wormhole was red? If red is kinda a signature color of fire, this means I'm in a dimension that is a heaven for fire users…. Nice!' he said the last word in a sarcastic tone.

Why wasn't he thrown into a Decay heaven? At least they would have given him that, as he would love to know what it feels like to have so much power running through his veins.

The image of those behemoths flashed through his eyes, and Cristian subconsciously gulped.

It baffled him that beings of such size with levels that might be in thousands were mere messengers and from how they begged him.

They hated their job but had to do it.

"Hey, go get firewood." a deep voice brought him back from his drowning thoughts. Turning his head, he saw the Orc staring at him like a grandpa staring at his stubborn grandson.

"I killed the beast. You make it edible. It's there in the contract." He casually said, making the Orc frown. "Hey, are you delusional? When did we sign any contract?!"

The delusional green-haired man turned to him with droopy eyes. "These days, contracts are made that way. I didn't make the rules. Ask Origin." Cristian scoffed. He still bore a grudge against that unknown being.

He refused to believe it was the system.

"Kids these days, humph!" the Orc snorted, stood up, and walked into the forest, but Cristian cast 'inspect' before he went far.

"You've got to be kidding me!" he exclaimed, with eyes almost popping out. The shock was too much for him to keep inside.

The advantages of being a warrior race were just revealed before his eyes. Something humans would struggle to gain. Orcs gained it just by growing.

'Wait, if it was this strong, then why was he struggling against the tiger?'

He pondered before realizing the system distributed every point equally, boosting every muscle to the peak, but this Orc grew normally and did not have the system to help him so he could not use his full strength.

Unknown to Cristian, a pair of dazzling eyes gazed at him. There was something inside that leather bag and it opened its eyes for the first time in a long while.
