Chapter 320 - Reunion
Chapter 320: Reunion
At that moment, Lu Yan pushed the door open and entered. The four of us were stunned.
Lu Yan was pleasantly surprised. “Mai Qi, you’re back?”
Maggie smiled and hugged Lu Yan. “Yes, I’m back!”
This was the first time the four of us had our actual reunion.
Lu Yan looked very happy. “Let’s go out for a meal to celebrate our reunion. This shall be my treat!”
Mai Qi and I couldn’t help but feel apologetic. We didn’t even think of asking Lu Yan to join us earlier.
Mai Qi said, “I should be the one to play host. Miss Lu Yan, would you like to join us?”
Lu Yan smiled and nodded. The four of us decided to go for Sichuan Hotpot.
This was the first time the four of us actually had dinner together.
Mai Qi asked Lu Yan, “Are you still busy recently?”
Lu Yan nodded, “It’s much better than before. You helped me find jobs and doctors for my brothers. That was a huge weight taken off my shoulders. I was looking for an opportunity to thank you!”
Lu Yan’s smile was very humble.
Mai Qi nudged her, “What are you so formal around us? We’re good sisters sharing the same dorms. Plus, your brothers have worked hard at their new jobs. Furthermore, it was Nanxing who made all that happened!”
“Nanxing, thank you! You have no idea how much you’ve helped me!” Lu Yan’s voice was a little choked up.
I quickly waved my hand. “Hey, don’t be like this. I can’t stand it.”
Lu Yan was flustered.
Jing Ni picked up a piece of lamb and placed it on Lu Yan’s plate. She said, “That’s how they are. You’ll get used to it. The more you thank them, the more uncomfortable they’ll be. These are trivial issues for them. If you treat this too seriously, they will be so awkward. So you need to relax so they can relax too.”
Lu Yan looked at Jing Ni gratefully. “I really want to be with you guys, but I don’t have a good background. I don’t even dare to stay in the dorm for too long. I’m afraid that you guys will hate me.”
Lu Yan was a little choked up.
Jing Ni patted her hand. “You really need to stop being so cautious. These two are just paper tigers. They look fierce but they won’t actually do anything to do.”
Mai Qi glared at Jing Ni. “Hey! What have we done to you for you to slander our names like that?”
Jing Ni ignored her.
“The girl has picked up some bad habits!” Mai Qi complained to me.
We all laughed. Due to their personalities, Jing Ni and Lu Yan got along well. Mai Qi and I were quite crazy. So they watched us be crazy. We enjoyed the dinner very much.
When Lu Yan tried to pay the bill, Mai Qi stopped her.
Mai Qi said that she would pay for all the food expenses in the future because she came upon a little windfall. She then glanced at me. I knew she was referring to the ten million I managed to scam for her.
When we returned to the dorm, it was already late. Before I went to bed, I glanced at my phone. I received a message from Lu Yan. “Nanxing, I wish to meet you in private.”
I responded with an, “Okay.”
Lu Yan sent me the time and place.
I was free, so I agreed.
The next day, Jing Ni, Mai Qi, and I returned to Huan Yuan. Since my little uncle and Jing Tian were not around, we went next door to visit Auntie Lan and Auntie Bai Rui.
But the moment we entered the courtyard, something did not feel right. Jing Tian’s house was unusually lively.
Jing Ni’s expression shifted immediately.
I held her hand.
All of us heard Jing Ning’s voice. What were they doing here?
