Chapter 433: Origins
“But what, Brother Lin Ran?” I couldn’t help but be nervous.
Lin Ran sighed. “Nanxing, forget-me-not is more than just a simple poison. There is evil magic involved in it, so modern science can’t cure it.”
“Evil magic? What do you mean?” I was confused.
“The poison is imbued with the poisoner’s blood.” Lin Ran was tense.
“What does that mean?” I was at a loss.
Lin Ran paused. “Nanxing, the poisoner’s blood is instrumental in making this poison. The poison takes effect after the poisoned leaves the poisoners. This poison originates from a primitive tribe in the tropical rainforest. The tribe’s women invented this to keep their men. Later, it was leaked into the modern world. However, this poison is very rare. Even in the underworld, only a few people know how to use it. First, it’s not easy to obtain the ingredients; Secondly, this poison is so rare that most people think it is a legend. I’ve only seen it twice by chance.”
“You’ve seen this?” I felt hopeful.
“Yes, I’ve seen this once with Jing Tian and Tong Le. Someone showed it to us.” Lin Ran said.
“So, you know that another poison can alleviate this poison’s effect, but it won’t cure it?” I asked.
“Yes. But Nanxing, that is a desperate choice. In the end, the poisoned will be tortured to death by both poisons.” Lin Ran’s voice carried an undetectable pain.
“Brother Lin Ran, where have you seen this? Who is this someone?” I felt suspicious.
Lin Ran didn’t answer. “Brother Lin Ran?” His actions confused me.
“Nanxing, I will go to find you now. I can’t cure the poison, but I will try my best to help Jing Tian.” Lin Ran ended the call. I looked at the phone numbly. I had a feeling that there was a bigger picture behind this. There was something my little uncle, Jing Tian, and Lin Ran was not telling me.
I turned around and was surprised by Xiao Yi standing not far away.
“Xiao Yi?” Xiao Yi’s wounds were treated. There were bandages on his arm and forehead.
“Sister Xing.” Xiao Yi straightened his back.
“Are you looking for me?” I asked. My mind had yet to process what Lin Ran had said.
Xiao Yi nodded. “Sister Xing, Master Qi has been poisoned by the forget-me-not.”
I looked at Xiao Yi in shock. How did he know about this? Did the news spread so fast? But he was not with us when we confronted Tong Yan.
“How did you know?” I asked.
Xiao Yi lowered his head. “I know because my grandmother knows how to use this poison.”
I widened my eyes and grabbed his arm. “Really? Xiao Yi?”
Xiao Yi nodded.
I lowered my voice and asked, “Then, does your grandmother know the poison’s antidote?”
Xiao Yi hesitated before nodding.
“Bring me to your grandmother immediately!” I was almost jumping with joy.
Xiao Yi gently pushed my arm away. “Sister Xing, this matter isn’t as simple as you think.”
I nodded. “I understand. Of course, a strange poison won’t be cured so easily. However, as long as there’s an antidote, I’ll do anything to procure it. I will do it for Jing Tian.”
Xiao Yi looked at me. “But, if –”
“There is no but. Xiao Yi, without Jing Tian, there is no Nanxing. Do you understand? Take me to your grandmother, please.” I interrupted him.
Xiao Yi lowered his head and muttered, “Master Qi and Master Si will kill me. No, they will slice me into shreds if they found out.”
I pulled him and showed him that I understood his concern. “Xiao Yi, don’t tell anyone about this yet. Keep it to yourself for now. Wait for my news. Sister Xing’s permanent happiness is in your hands.. You must help me!”
