Chapter 670
Chapter 670
The glacial cavern's structure made sure that sound would always reverberate through it.
Wooong! Woooong!
The Song of Cradle echoed throughout the Extreme Frost Road, causing something surprising to happen. The song was not lethal, but it was a powerful crowd control skill that would send most who heard it to sleep.
The Phantom Singer’s song echoed throughout the glacial cavern and the sleep effect of the skill stacked up with each echo. On top of that, the +13 Kyoshin’s Vocal Cord was a Legendary artifact, so it made his song even more effective.
As a result...
Thud...! Thud! Thud!
The Blanc Warriors collapsed one by one.
“ZzZzz...”
“ZzZzZ...”
They fell asleep and started snoring. The combination of the enclosed space and the +13 Kyoshin’s Vocal Cord was so powerful that it instantly sent the Blanc Warriors to sleep.
However, this also came at a cost.
“...”
“...”
“...”
Seung-Gu’s Iron Golems stopped moving as well.
“ZzZzz...”
The Iron Golems did not fall asleep, as they were golems, but their operator, Seung-Gu, felt his eyelids growing heavy.
“Kyuuu... I’m sleepy...”
Hamchi started dozing off while spinning his magical wheel to support Siegfried. In the end, he plopped down and fell asleep on his wheel.
The Song of Cradle was so effective that Gringore failed to control the sound waves, causing his own allies to fall asleep.
But there was more...
“H-Huh...?”
Siegfried was in the middle of fighting Nanuqsa when he noticed that his hands and feet were suddenly not listening to him.
[Alert: Status Ailment!]
[Alert: Your character has been afflicted by Sleep!]
[Alert: Your eyes are closing!]
[Alert: Your Movement Speed has decreased!]
[Alert: You can no longer remain conscious!]
“Why the hell... did you send... your allies... to sleep...?” Siegfried grumbled after reading the string of messages. He was on the verge of getting knocked out, but he still managed to grumble.
Fortunately, Nanuqsa was in a similar state as him.
“Kill... Mmm... mm...”
Nanuqsa’s eyes started closing just like Siegfried’s. He tried to fight the overwhelming drowsiness, but he clearly couldn't hold on any longer.
The Song of Cradle was so powerful that it affected not only Siegfried but even Nanuqsa as well, even though he was a Master.
“What the hell... is this...?” Siegfried muttered.
Those were his last words.
Thud!
Siegfried fell to the ground and fell asleep.
‘I guess this is better than fighting to the death with that guy. Yeah, I’d choose going to sleep over that any day,’ Siegfried thought. He had pondered about using Grand Duel to protect himself from the Song of Cradle.
However, it meant fighting to the death with Nanuqsa, and there was no guarantee that he could win against a Master. Thus, Siegfried decided to let the Song of Cradle affect him and send both of them to sleep.
Nanuqsa managed to fight off the drowsiness for a split second longer, but he soon succumbed to it just like Siegfried.
“ZzZzz...”
“zZzzZz...”
With that, the two slept on the ground right beside each other.
“Hey!”
Meanwhile, Han Tae-Sung screamed out of rage at Gringore while sitting in his VR capsule.
“What’s the point of the skill being effective when you can’t even control it?!”
The screen in front of Tae-Sung dimmed, eventually becoming black.
[Alert: Please wait!]
[Alert: You are unable to control your character until the duration of Sleep is over!]
[Alert: Your character is fast asleep!]
Thanks to that, Tae-Sung was forced to wait in the VR capsule while pouting like a child.
***
One hour later.
[Alert: You have recovered from Sleep!]
[Alert: You will regain control of your character in 3 seconds!]
[Alert: 3... 2... 1...]
[Alert: Your character will soon open his eyes!]
Han Tae-Sung wasted an hour before his character, Siegfried van Proa, finally woke up.
“Mmm...”
Siegfried slowly opened his eyes after the screen slowly turned bright.
“Are you awake now, Your Majesty,” Gringore asked.
“Where... am I?” Siegfried asked while looking around.
“I have no idea, sire. I took everyone out from the glacial caverns and pitched a tent.”
“Oh?”
“Sir Hamchi and Sir Seung-Gu are safe too, so please be rest assured.”
“What about Nanuqsa and the Blanc Warriors?” Siegfried asked after looking around and spotting Seung-Gu and Hamchi fast asleep.
“They should be awake by now. I sang another song to deal damage to them, but I made sure that none of them would die.”
“Yes, we don’t have to cause unnecessary bloodshed. I’m pretty sure there’s a reason behind their sudden change,” Siegfried said while nodding.
“By reason you mean...?”
“Hmm... Maybe something like having their minds controlled by Inkarthus?”
“That is a valid point,” Gringore replied.
“Ah, why don’t you control your skill better next time? How could you even send your own allies to sleep?”
“M-My apologies, sire,” Gringore replied while profusely sweating. Then, he explained, “The glacial cavern was so narrow that the soundwaves bounced all over the place, making it impossible to control.”
“So your control sucks?”
“Pardon?”
“Nah, it’s nothing,” Siegfried replied with a shrug. Then, he said, “But this is a big problem. There’s no way we can reach that place in time now that the Extreme Frost Road is gone.”
There were no other methods to reach the central region in a short period of time except for the Extreme Frost Road. The Arctic Pangea did not have any warp gates, and using teleportation magic would prove difficult due to the intense magnetic waves coming from the ocean floor, which disrupted the flow of teleportation.
Siegfried could choose to run the distance, but it would take him at least two weeks to reach his destination.
What was the point of reaching two weeks later when Inkarthus had already awakened?
“Damn it... We don’t have any communication devices with us, so I can’t request help from the kingdom...”
Woooong!
Siegfried felt something around his thigh vibrate while he was busy grumbling. He reached down to his pocket and found something in it.
“Huh?”
He took out the vibrating object from his pocket. It was a small blue whistle.
The Whistle: Cowherd?? sent together with the Despicable Hydra Set by Yong Seol-Hwa was vibrating.
Ding!
A message popped up in front of his eyes informing him that the cooldown time of the item’s unique skill was finished and that it was available for us.
“Whoa... This thing is already available?” Siegfried muttered.
***
The work to help Inkarthus recover went on. The Church of Osric poured tens of thousands of tons of the recovery liquid into the First Black Dragon’s body.
Meanwhile, the Savior and Inkarthus were discussing ways to bring about the destruction of this world.
“That will be difficult.”
“What do you mean?”
“The world has already made great advancement. Remember that it has been a hundred thousand years since you were awake.”
“So?”
“The advancement in technology has made the impossible possible, and it is impossible for you to destroy this world all on your own, even if you’re the First Black Dragon. And you've already failed once in the past, have you not?”
“...”
“You must work together with us. Hide your strength for now and join us as we move systematically to achieve our goals.”
“I'd accept your suggestion if this were back in the time. It is true that most of those pathetic humans served me out of fear, but I still had my own army.”
“Are you implying that you still have an army?”
“Yes, I am.”
“It's been so long. How are you so confident about that?”
“I have my descendants.”
“Your descendants...”
“The black dragons living in this age will heed my call.”
“Do you think they will listen to your commands?”
“They have to. They cannot defy me as long as my blood is running through their veins.”
“...!”
“All of my brethren should be dead by now. Thus, I will not suffer the same humiliation if the black dragons in this age fights for me.”
“If that’s the case... I think it's possible.”
The Savior agreed with Inkarthus' words. The First Black Dragon possessed near-transcendent powers, so it was definitely possible for him to destroy the entire world if all of the existing black dragons followed his commands.
In fact, he wouldn't need the Church of Osric’s help to destroy the world. Even if he failed to destroy the world, that was not a problem, as the First Black Dragon and his army of black dragons going on a rampage would destroy at least a third of the entire world.
“Haha... I’m back after a hundred thousand years. I will definitely repay these humans for what they did to—”
It was then.
Shwoooong!
The sound of something ripping through the air rang from above.
An object was falling at great speeds toward the First Black Dragon.
This object was none other than god’s wrath that punished the evildoers.
KABOOOOM!
A massive explosion erupted, devouring a fifty-kilometer radius around Inkarthus and the Savior.
A gigantic mushroom cloud was created shortly afterward.
“Tsk... Too bad...”
On the other hand, Siegfried clicked his tongue while watching the mushroom cloud and reading the message that popped up in front of his eyes.
Ding!
[Alert: Scourge of God is now on cooldown!]
[Alert: 364 days 23 hours 58 minutes and 11 seconds remaining!]
Siegfried ended up using Scourge of God, which was a skill that had a one-year cooldown, to strike the central region of the Arctic Pangea.
[Abilities: Scourge of God]
[Allows the user to launch the Rod of God into the air and drop it at the desired location. The range is eight thousand kilometers with a ten-meter margin of error. The Rod of God will wreak absolute havoc within a fifty-kilometer radius from ground zero.]
[The Rod of God weapon will automatically return to the user once used. (Cooldown: One Year)]
This was his only remaining option. He was running out of time, and he had no other way to reach the central region. Thus, he was forced to use his most powerful skill, Scourge of God, to strike Inkarthus and stop him from awakening.
“Oh well, I have no other choice,” Siegfried muttered with a shrug and waited patiently for the gigantic mushroom cloud to dissipate.
