Chapter 118
Chapter 118
118 An Unexpected Question (1)
Different from when he received the level up notification and received the 5 unused status points that he could use, the moment Robus leveled up, Blake could visibly see the already huge gorilla once again grow in size.
It wasn’t anything massive like Robus doubling in size and becoming a giant as huge and tall as the trees, but the change was significant enough that Blake could notice the difference without paying too much attention to the huge gorilla.
The gorilla had at least grown one meter in height, along with his body also getting firmer and looking fuller than before.
‘Did he put all his unused status points to his physique stat or something?’ Blake thought to himself as he saw the very noticeable difference in Robus’ physique.
‘Should I do it too and pour all my unused status points into my physique right now?’ Blake said in his mind as he opened up his status page once again.
——–
Name:...Blake
Race: Darkness Demon
Level:12 (39/125)
.....
Stats:
Physique: 18
Spirit: 47
Unused: 5
Bloodline Power:
(Darkness Demon) Monarch’s Covenant
(Earth Ape Demon) Dark Earth Armor
Quest:
+(Main) Reach level 15 and Evolve!
——–
Seeing the difference in number between his physique stat and spirit stat, Blake couldn’t help but put a wry smile on his face as he fully knew that it was all due to his obsession with using a second realm darkness spell.
‘Maybe it’s time for me to give my physique stat more love?’
‘Ah, they are approaching a beautiful round number, I will do that later with my next level up instead.’
——–
Stats:
Physique: 20
Spirit: 50
Unused: 0
——–
So in the end, Blake decided that he would round up the numbers of his status points first instead of putting all his unused status points into his physique stat.
Other than the round numbers that looked good to be seen instead of an odd number, Blake was also curious whether his spirit stat reaching the 50 points milestone would give him anything special like a bonus or anything like that.
However, other than feeling that his sluggish body had spent a lot of nether recovering significantly faster than before and being able to feel nether much better around him, Blake didn’t receive any notifications or feel any difference that was significant enough to be considered ‘special’.
‘At least it’s worth the try.’ Blake thought to himself before looking back at his gorilla friend that had become even bigger than before.
“I wonder how big you will get after we’ve reached the deeper realms after this realm,” Blake said while admiring how strong and tough Robus looked from his point of view on the ground below.
‘r.’ (I don’t know.)
‘Rr.’ (But I like being bigger. I feel much stronger than before.) Robus said while moving his body and limbs around.
‘Rrr.’ (I guess you are correct when you say eating those tasteless souls also helped me to get stronger.)
“Of course! Why would I lie to you!”
Seeing the exchange between the two creatures, Vera still couldn’t understand how Blake was able to process the series of ‘rr’ and ‘Rr’ that Robus produced from his mouth as she was barely even able to have a one-way conversation with the huge gorilla.
Vera waited for the two to stop speaking before she finally spoke herself.
“Blake, what can you learn from this experience?”
Blake, who was thinking about what kind of spells he got in his arsenal that could inflict as much pain as possible other than the darkness spike and the darkness binding spell combination, was suddenly jolted awake out of his mind when he heard Vera’s question.
“I need to learn more about the runes and prepare more rune formations as it was one of the best advantages I have over the other demons in the first demon realm.”
“That’s correct.” Vera nodded in satisfaction when her student had actually paid attention to her explanations despite his prior reaction primarily focusing on eating the souls.
“You should prepare some rune formations that you will bring everywhere on the pouch I gave you. And those rune formations should be filled with spells that could get you out of sticky situations or even help you defeat your enemies faster.” Vera continued her explanation.
“I have some blood from the demons that had varying elemental affinities that you can use. But later I will also teach you how to collect the blood yourself and what kind of runes needed to be used in the container to store the blood.”
“Thanks a lot, Vera. I will definitely keep this in mind and explore more about the rune formations.” Blake said as bowed his head slightly as a sign of his deep thanks.
With all the souls of the humanoid demons having been eaten by the humanoid demon-demonic beast duo, Vera then continued her questioning about the humanoid demons that they had just defeated.
Blake then told her that he first came back to where he met the group of humanoid demons for the first time before continuing his journey forward to the edge of the island.
Then he told her about the colorful dots that he saw when Robus threw him to the sky and decided to come closer to check what were the colorful dots that slowly but surely got closer and closer to the island.
The colorful dots then turned out to be the varying color of the sails of the ships that the humanoid demons used to get to the island, and Blake decided to observe them closer right after he sent his nether to the bracelet that Vera gave him.
“The bracelet that you gave me served as a signal to inform you about their appearance right?”
“Yes, you are correct. I quickly prepared all the things that I used here earlier the moment I received the signal from the bracelet and flew straight to the bracelet’s location. Which was also your location”
“See, once again, rune formations are really useful Blake. I spent all of my time in my basement tweaking with runes because of that. You should really take them seriously and use them to your advantage.” Vera once again explicitly reminded Blake of the fact that she had explained a few times already.
Blake only nodded in understanding this time as he had already cemented the fact that rune formations were really useful and he was both under-utilizing them and underestimating their usefulness so far.
Blake was held in his own thoughts again as he began to imagine what kind of rune formations he would create as his first-ever experiments, and what kind of spell he should make with them.
‘Should I make an offensive spell to complement my usual fighting style? Or should I make a defensive spell that I could use just in case I was thrown into a difficult situation where my ordinary spells couldn’t easily save me?’
But his thoughts were once again stopped as Vera threw an unexpected question towards him.
“But Blake, why did you decide to go to this location in the first place? Aren’t there so many other places you haven’t explored yet in the forest? Do you want to meet the humanoid demons that much?”
