Chapter 241 - 241 Bison Defeated

241 Bison Defeated

[Congratulations! A bloodline power has evolved!]

———-

(Earth Ape Demon) Dark Earth Armory

A variation of earth armory that had received a massive amount of darkness elements. On top of the ordinary protection you get from the original earth armor and the capability to make ordinary earth weapons, the darkness element would also enhance the defensive and offensive capability by absorbing some of the elements that were thrown into the armor and weapon to reinforce themselves.

———-

Reading the description the system told him, Blake soon understood Robus’ new ability from his evolved bloodline power.

But the description from the system wasn’t really needed that much as he could see with his own eyes how a large spear befitting of Robus’ gigantic body manifested itself in Robus’ hand.

It didn’t have the same rough texture of the dark earth armor that could roughly be described as rocks being glued to one’s body. Instead, the spear looked fairly similar to a spear that was made of polished steel.

Be it the bloodline power was trying to manifest the image in Robus’ mind or the newly evolved bloodline power was just like that, having smooth stones instead of the usual rough ones, the newly built spear had smooth surfaces from its handle to its blade, making the sharp edge of the blade looked sharper due to the smoothness of the surface.

.....

“It’s about time his bloodline ability evolved.” Vera nodded her head as her amazement finally died down.

“Bloodline power could evolve?” Blake asked as he never heard Vera talking about it before.

“Of course. The more you evolve, the stronger you become. Be it your physical body, your nether bending abilities, and that even includes your bloodline ability,” Vera started her explanation as he kept her eyes locked onto the gorilla fighting beneath her.

“But I don’t think I’ve ever seen any demons with similar bloodline power as Robus. Maybe there hasn’t been any demon from his species that had succeeded in descending the realms yet.”

“He would probably be the first one of his species to descend after this, Blake,” Vera said as her eyes lit up with excitement.

“Not many demons would be able to prepare beforehand if you ever fought them together with Robus. That’s a great advantage to have the deeper you go in the demon realms.”

Understanding where Vera came from, Blake’s eyes also lit up as he imagined the fights and how he could surprise his opponent more with an unknown ability. “I see…”

‘But the real question is, can I also use the evolved ability?’ Blake thought to himself as he began re-reading the updated description of the bloodline ability he got from his gorilla best friend.

‘Its description has been updated, it should mean that I could also use it right?’

Blake didn’t wear his dark earth armor while he flew this time since he didn’t see the horde of bison could throw him an attack in mid-air and the dark earth armor would only slow him down with significantly added weight.

It took quite an effort for him and Cyra to moderate using their explosions so that they could manage flying in the sky with minor movements, preventing themselves from flying everywhere. Having less weight will only benefit him.

But after learning of the ability of the evolved bloodline power, Blake quickly sent his nether to the rune that corresponds to the dark earth armory bloodline power.

The system didn’t give him any guide about how to use it, but Blake assumed that he probably needed to make a picture in his mind and guide the dark earth to form just like the picture.

At first, Blake thought that he kind of succeeded with only a part of his right hand being covered by the usual rough dark earth. However, when he tried to continue and create the smooth-surfaced dark earth, to create the same dark earth spear that Robus had created, Blake didn’t get any more dark earth to manifest on his hand.

Asking himself, Blake thought, ‘Why can’t I use the evolved bloodline power?’

[Host’s bloodline power has still not evolved yet. Please proceed with the evolution quest and complete Host’s first evolution to utilize the evolved bloodline power’s ability.]

‘Oh? It’s quite rare for you to answer of your own volition if I didn’t mention your name first.’ Blake talked to the system, which was located inside his head, which means him talking to himself. ‘You really want me to evolve, don’t you?’

Blake asked the system, but the system didn’t give Blake any more answers, as if wanting to underline its point earlier about wanting Blake to finish his evolution quest.

After the short failed experiment, Blake shelved other questions that he got to the back of his mind as the rematch between his best friend and the horde of bison below would soon start.

Different from before when Robus needed to wait for the last moment when his fist would reach the frontmost bison of the horde, which also meant that he would be in the bison’s charging range, Robus didn’t need to do such things now as a weapon with more than twice the range of his fist was in his hands.

Instead of winding up his fist, Robus pulled the spear to his back, before then grabbing it with both his hands and swinging it forward using muscle from his whole body to do it and also made use of the leverage that the long shaft of the spear had given him.

Robus’ fists were strong and tough at the same time. And added with the dark earth armor encasing it, there were only a few things that could either stand against them or even damage them.

However, it was a different case with the smooth dark earth spear in his hand. Instead of protecting an organic fist inside it, the spear was made up fully of dark earth. The strength and toughness that it had were simply on another level.

So with the combination of the dark earth spear and Robus’ strength that swung the spear with all of his might, the spear didn’t even have a hard time as it clashed against several bison at the same time.

With the spear’s wider area of attack, Robus could hit more than one bison at once, and with the strength that the attack had, at least one bison head had been severed horizontally, and a few more fatal wounds appeared on more bison’s face was caused by the spear.

If it was only one bison that had abruptly stopped moving, the other bison on the back could easily adjust their charge trajectory, making sure they didn’t trip on their own deceased kin.

But if multiple bison were stopped at the same time, the frontmost ones at that, the bison in the back found it hard to prevent themselves from stepping onto the fallen bison.

Most of them did succeed in doing it, but it was at the cost of them breaking their charge, which gave Robus the opportunity that he needed to go wild amongst the rest of the bison.

With a single leap of his, Robus closed the distance between himself and the other bison in an instant.

But he didn’t go directly beside them or in front of them. With his new weapon, Robus could keep himself safe from being inside the bison’s enchanted horns’ range and risk having to be knocked back by them.

Robus swung his spear with all his might, taking down a few bison with him, disrupting the formation even more before then leaping forward once more and repeating the same sequence of action.

Although his current actions didn’t result in most of the bison dying, only a few of them, Robus didn’t have the intention to kill all the bison with this move, the fallen bison was only a bonus for him.

With this move that prioritized breaking the bison horde’s charge by making them slow down or even fall, Robus intended to break apart their formation first, making the situation similar to the case when he fought with the necromancer’s horde of demons.

In the absence of advantageous terrain for himself, Robus decided that he would create his own advantageous position, before then closing the deal and finishing the battle.

And that was exactly what he did.

After jumping here and there and swinging his spear a lot of times, the horde of charging bison was no more as most of them had stopped moving. Either from having a fatal wound on their bodies or they simply found no other place to be able to pick up their feet due to being blocked by each other.

Just like that, with the bison’s losing their greatest weapon, their unimaginably huge momentum, and the ability to get close enough to use their enchanted horns, Robus butchered them as easily as defeating the common boars from the island.

The dark earth spear showed its prowess as it cut open the bison’s rather tough hide with ease and also severed the bones underneath it with little effort.

The fight between Robus and the horde of bison resulted in a one-sided slaughter albeit it started quite rough for the huge gorilla.
