"Levi, sit down. We need to talk." Jay said those words to Levi as he was really serious and knew that what was going on on the planet was not something that could be taken lightly. As the Ultima God, Jay already knew the creature that was to be birthed.
Levi sat down in front of him while the other gods, who were free from their duties, watched on from the couch as their brother was chastised. About what? They didn't really know, but it seemed serious.
Levi tried to speak first saying,"Father, I did'n-" However he was caught off with swift hand gesture from Jay. Jay simply replied,"Hush, do not speak, only listen."
Jay took a deep breath and started the talk with his son, and he knew from the get go that this wouldn't be easy.
"Levi, firstly, congratulations on officially becoming a father and a partner to a lovely partner. Personally I couldn't be happier for you as you seem to really enjoy being with her. However it is because I know you care so deeply that this news will be the hardest for me to deliver." Jay said this last part very solemnly
Levi muttered out,"I-I-I don't understand? What's wrong?" Levi's brain was racking with possibilities on what was happening, and his mind was already starting to assume the worst.
Jay took another deep breath, obviously having a tough time saying the next part. "Mu will give birth to what is known as a Unicorn Pegasus. It will have a single horn on its head, it will have wings similar to your own except more like a mortal avian, and it will harness, master and completely control a rare energy that brings forth light."
Levi was astonished and beamed a smile secretly that his children were so powerful! It was a wonderful feeling! But wait.. these are all good things?
Jay continued,"You are a God and your children can technically be categorized as semi-demigods, although they will never be able to truly step into that threshold. However there are 2 major problems. 1 is that Mu, although far stronger than most sub-sentients at this stage, is still a mortal and will not survive the birth of your child."
Levi's world instantly crashed down on him as he realized that after his children were born he would lose the only mate he ever really cared about. He was heartbroken immediately.
Jay wasn't finished though, as delivered more bad news,"2 is that your children, although eventually mastering their light element and energy, fundamentally lack that experience during the early stages of their life. They will unconsciously and rampantly use the light energy that is always flowing through them. This light energy is the literal antithesis of your dark energy and those two things do not mesh. If you attempt to stay with your children after they are born, their light energy will hurt you tremendously. Though I know you would suffer through that for them, your dark energy over a period of more than 2 weeks will corrupt all their energy, and kill them slowly and brutally."
Levi didn't know what to say and so simply started to weep uncontrollably as he thought of the implications of his actions. He had basically killed his mate and doomed his children to a world where they could literally never know they loving embrace of either of their parents.
Levi, in desperation and anguish, pleaded out,"Father, please! I beg you! Please save her! I do not know how I can move on from this without her!! I cannot be responsible for this huge sin that is lurking above my head!"
Jay could only shake his head and say," The only thing I can do for you is that for 1 week during the brightest week of the solstice, you can visit them and let them know who you are and what their story is. As for your mate, that is the fate that she was born with."
Sol widened her eyes at this and asked from the side,"Wait, what is this? Jay? Did you make a "God Soulmate Matcher"?"
Jay nodded and said,"Yes, every once in a while a strong species that matches your physical preferences and can make you desire physicality will appear. This was done as a way for the gods, who are normally very busy with their godly duties, to find mates who are willing to bear their seed. However, this was only supposed to apply to sentients, as only sentients can bear the mental and physical toll that birthing a demigod would bring. Even a powerful sub beast with power rivaling my own could not have my child as it simply could not handle it. It was simply not made to accept the seed of a higher life form."
Levi almost yelled out, but managed to only raise his voice a bit, saying,"So you wanted this to happen?! I did exactly what you programmed and now I get this travesty?!"
Jay leveled Levi with a hard gaze and Levi, who was standing up and obviously very angry, obediently calmed down and sat back down. That gaze had some hidden killing intent!
Jay then continued,"As I was saying, sub-sentient creatures should not be able to give birth to godly children. Your mate happened to be caught in between an evolution generation, which made her race, which normally would be sub-sentient, to suddenly be close to reaching sentience. They were close, Levi, they hadn't actually evolved into sentients yet, and as such, she will not be able to survive."
Levi was overcome with grief as Jay put a hand on his shoulder and simply said,"I'm sorry son." Before walking to his own room. Jay was also going to cry but he didn't want the others to see how close he was to breaking his own no intervention rules for the sake of his son. It was a hard decision but mistakes did happen and fate was a funny thing that Jay believed carried great importance.
