174 Chapter 174: Shadow emperor

Alex remained in his room in a cross-legged position with his hands on the floating crystal core and his body floating too. The door opened slowly and little beast walked in first and Tracy followed behind. They were both stunned to see everything in the room levitating and this made Tracy frown.

While this is a quick way to strengthen himself, Tracy believed if he should meet anyone on his level, he would be far more inexperienced. Just like Danny now, even with all the powers stolen and all that he can be considered one of the weakest SS-rated humans. Power may get stronger through this method but the user needs to develop as well.

“Enough of that, you are depending on this too much” Tracy said in a shaky voice. Only then did Alex open his eyes, revealing pitch-black eyes like a black whirlpool ready to pull the world in.

The sight of this made her stagger a bit! She couldn’t help but confess that the gravity ability is probably the most powerful deviant ability in the world since its potential seems limitless. In her opinion, Alex can do far more than what he does now, he simply lacks the imagination to do so.

“You do not understand what goes on on the battlefield, so leave” Alex’s voice seemed to be overlapped with another voice as he casually waved his hand and Tracy lost control of her body, floating In the air while an invisible force slowly and gently pushed her towards the door!

Meow!

Bite!

The cat jumped on Alex’s hand and bit it, only then did he return to his senses and fall to the ground, alongside everything around him.

“What happened?” Alex was slightly stunned. His eyes were filled with shock making Tracy believe he wasn’t aware of what happened.

.....

“Your power is from numerous foreign sources. It’s consuming you... you are growing the power too fast for your body and mind. At this rate you will be consumed by the power and become something else entirely” Tracy said resolutely.

“Is that even possible?” Alex was still skeptical about the theory.

“The first time you mastered the Demon-kin secret technique... there was this look you gave me. It felt like you were just looking at another piece of meat. The Alex I knew and loved was more reserved and quiet but this Alex refers to himself to the world as a deity and cares about what the world thinks. You are not the same person you use to be” Tracy said with teary eyes and Alex frowned.

Now she put it this way, he couldn’t help but confess that he has changed. But the reason for the change is something he still cannot confirm yet. Did he really get influenced badly by the secret technique he has been practicing?

While one had no regard for human life, the other believed it to be supreme and claims to be a deity. In some way, he was sure he had changed.

Now he remembered he saw the Hall family leader use Queen’s ability, proving that she has been his subordinate all this while but he didn’t flinch or feel hurt one bit, he just didn’t care.

He has been gone for so long and he is yet to make any attempt to contact his brother, Damon! Is he still normal?

Alex sat there in silence as the cat rested on his lap. Reluctantly, Tracy approached and then gave him a hug from behind with her bosom pressing against his back tightly.

..........

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

A massive spider rampaged through the city of Enugu in Nigeria and many ran for their lives but not all could survive. The recent aggressive behavior of the mutant beasts had led to the destruction of a good part of Nigeria and with the culture insisting on only protecting the southeast where they are from, the casualties from the other side were quite high.

“Kidd... How much longer?” Riviz stood atop a building as he watched the demon-tier spider rampaging. People were running for their lives but he made no attempt to save them.

He seemed tired and worn out.

“A good number of the culture’s fighting force left for the sealed artifact... it’s only natural we can’t protect everyone since we are not at full strength” Kidd said.

He was a dark-skinned youth with quite good-looking facial features and curly well gelled black hair. A member of the culture and probably Riviz’s closest friend.

“It’s nice to know you can zoom in and out once in a while. Teleportation can be really useful once in a while” Riviz chuckled bitterly as his pitch-black eyes were pinned on the massive spider.

“Do you think we can win?” Kidd asked with a skeptical look on his face...

He didn’t specify but Riviz already knew what he was talking about. The culture would be going against other powerful forces across the world. Chinese immortal palace, Japanese God sect, Russia’s Regime, United States, Big four, Tyrant guild, and more powerful forces. This would be considered the largest scale battle to happen between humans in history all over an alien tech.

The culture may be invincible in Africa but outside it’s hard to say. By the way, they are only S-rated guardians.

“What are you saying? We sent Emperor, Klay, Sage, Vendetta, you, and Hazard.... Do you think we can fail? I am the only one left to guard this messed up country... failure is not an option” Riviz said before jumping off the building.

Xiu!

Darkness spread across the land and surged forward like a tidal wave, catching the attention of the massive mutant spider!

Sensing danger it quickly retreated while it weaved a ball of web so fast you could barely react!

Xiu!

A fierce wave of power surged uncontrollably as the darkness began descending and spinning like a black whirlpool releasing a powerful suction force!

“Wherever there is light there must be shadow.... The shadow carries an emptiness that can never be filled. As the shadow emperor, I can never be satisfied, but that is my curse...” Riviz said those words with saddened eyes as the powerful whirlpool pulled the massive web within and swallowed in, meanwhile, the spider struggled fiercely but was lifted off the ground and got pulled into the Shadow, vanishing completely!

Riviz stood above like an ancient god of darkness as his cloak fluttered fiercely and a figure appeared beside him.

“You know you could have done that earlier right? Many people did not have to die” Kidd said but Riviz shook his head.

“They are overzealous humans, who completely believe in religion. Instead of looking for ways they remained stagnant. Prayed for God’s protection... I wonder how that’s going for them” Riviz said calmly.

“You hate Christians” Kidd chuckled.

“I don’t hate any religion, I simply want people to be able to differentiate between the physical and the spiritual. Physical problems require physical solutions, you can handle your spiritual problems with spiritual solutions. I just hate a continent that has more churches than infrastructures. More churches than schools.... Don’t you think there is a problem with such a society? In my opinion, we should just let this continent burn to the ground and rebuild it from scratch” Riviz said with cold eyes as he gazed at the countless bodies littered on the ground.

“Don’t you think you are a bit cruel?” Kidd sighed.

“That’s why I am the most effective person I know” Riviz didn’t seem moved.

Kidd vanished after that and nothing else was said.

Riviz was about to leave but then he felt a fierce aura wash through the city, turning him pale in shock. His eyes narrowed as he gazed at the massive being approaching from a distance. He wasn’t sure what would attract such a beast to this place but he didn’t have the opportunity to ask questions.

“it is far stronger than a Demon-level mutant beast! This is a Dragon-level beast! An enemy capable of destroying an entire country!” Riviz said with a frown as his eyes peered into the distance only to notice the beast wasn’t anywhere near.

Cold sweat ran down his spine as he contemplated what to do next. Right now he realized the beast was nowhere near but it was heading in this direction, fighting something that powerful should be reserved for only SS-rated humans and deviants. If he fights it in a place like this, most likely everyone here will die. So he was considering whether to go and face the enemy outside or just wait and make sure it is heading in this direction before making a move.

This is an opponent he is not even sure he can win against.

“Or I can join the culture on their mission through shadow hop... I am not obliged to die for anyone. The least I can do now is try my best... if I fail then I leave. By the way, a thousand of them cannot compare to just me in strength... my worth far outweighs theirs. My death simply secures their death there is no reason for such sacrifices” Riviz said with a frown.
