66 Chapter 66: Lost

Alex remained in a Limousine with Silver Jason, Tracy, and Angel. Behind them were company-owned vans transporting more guardians of various ranks with them. While they moved Alex watched the news on his tab and he didn’t know whether to be happy or annoyed. While he needed a reason to attack the Tyrant gang, he felt extremely disgusted by their actions. Why attack a college and hold students hostage. According to the information they got, the kids are forced to wield beast gears, and those unable to withstand its power become Lost.

“These are kids for Christ’s sake!” Jason wore a disgusted look while gazing at the window. His clenched fist was already red and it looked like his skin will tear if he applied more pressure.

“The Tyrant gang has gone too far this time... If they did this in less important areas, the government may overlook it, but doing it here in Washington is just a death sentence... Whatever relationship they had with the government is gone and it will soon become a full scale war between the two sides...” Silver said with a slightly irritated voice.

“And here I was looking for a reason to attack them but I still don’t feel happy... I wonder why” Alex said coldly as he shot Angel a cruel glance.

Angel could clearly feel the hostility directed toward him but he didn’t seem to care much.

“This isn’t just any day normal crime... This involves other guardian agencies... Hundreds of students are held captive... Don’t forget these kids belong to numerous wealthy families all over the country... They all have solid backgrounds so we can’t be reckless with their lives... As per our agreement, you will be treated like any other high-ranking guardian... You will take part in the operation but not alone...” Angel said calmly.

His golden hair was combed back neatly and he wore a white tuxedo. Unlike when they first met, Angel seemed to have returned to his peak form, it was obvious Alex and Silver’s contribution to the Agency had lessened the burden on his crippling agency.

“He is right... This is no normal operation... We can’t do as we please here” Silver said calmly.

He was already suited in his white battle suit. On the chest plate of his suit was the golden wings logo, representing the Angel Beats Agency. Alex wore his normal black long sleeve tight shit with ash military camo trousers and black boots. He wore black gloves and a black face mask. On the center of his shirt was the golden wings logo as well.

.....

“I know... But I will say this now... if I am forced to play a supporting role here, I will do something crazy... No one gets in my way” Alex said coldly.

“As it should be!” Angel agreed immediately.

When the Angel Beats Agency finally arrived there were other guardian agencies at the scene of the crime but none dared to enter the academy premises.

Walking out of the Limousine, some D-rated guardians noticed Alex, Silver, Tracy, and Jason and laughed.

“The Angel Beats Agency is falling so bad they brought their interns to the front lines... Are they really lacking guardians?”

Hearing their words, Jason wanted to act but when he noticed Alex, Silver and Tracy simply ignored them he had no choice but to follow. As they approached Alex noticed the military forces in front had their mean hidden behind covers. On the floor around the academy gates was blood and with just a glance they could tell it was fresh.

“Snipers” Alex said with a frown.

“A Damn good one at that” Silver chipped in.

“I don’t think it’s one... They must be more of them... They have a chopper in there and we are held out here... Using the kids as hostages is a smart move... They can continue their tests and when all the kids have gone Lost they will be sent at us while those who passed will be led out of this place and trained to be part of the Tyrant” Tracy said coldly.

“I must say, that’s a pretty good plan” Jason couldn’t help but commend them.

Hearing this, Alex seemed pissed. With narrowed eyes, he took bold steps forward. The fact the Tyrant dares to do something like this, simply means they are willing to go against the government. If not stopped now, things will get pretty nasty” Alex said coldly as he gazed into the academy from a small distance.

It looked like he was contemplating whether to move forward or wait.

“What’s your plan?” Alex asked Angel.

He couldn’t help but admit they are put in a bad condition here. Should things continue this way, the children will all die and no one will be able to save them.

“If we continue this way, they will still do and we won’t be able to do a thing about it” Alex said coldly.

“A team will be sent through the back while we try to negotiate with them from here” Angel said calmly.

Meanwhile Silver was quiet as he looked towards the academy. Acquiring beast gears should be difficult and rare, so how do these people have enough to use on these students?

When a person goes Lost, they become mindless creatures serving the beast gear they wield, they can only be separated upon death.

Silver’s eyes lit up and what people didn’t know was that he could zoom in and out like someone using binoculars. What Silver saw made him turn pale with fright and he took a step back.

“What’s wrong?” Alex noticed this and frowned. He knew Silver is not the type to overreact over nothing.

“Those who failed are dumped outside and allowed to roam free... The Losts seem to have noticed our presence! They are heading this way!” Silver said coldly.

Hearing this, Alex’s face turned pale!

“How many?” Angel asked with narrowed eyebrows.

“Enough!” Silver replied.

People around heard this and laughed. They felt Alex and Silver were trying to gain some point by trying to act helpful.

“Cut the crap kids... This is not the place for you... Enough games!” One said but Alex paid no attention.

He quickly ran to Tracy and Jason.

“Take the car and leave... When the fight starts we won’t be able to protect you guys” Alex said with a stern look on his face.

“I don’t need protection!” Jason complained.

“You don’t but she does... Take her away, as soon as this is over we will come over” Alex said with a fearful look on his face.

An army of Losts will set this country ablaze. They are the first line of defense, they are obliged to stay and fight.

Tracy remained silent and kept gazing at Alex with a complicated look on her face. It was obvious if people weren’t there, she would run into his hands.

“Be careful” She said to Alex.

“Don’t worry, no one can kill a Briggs” Alex said coldly.

“Or an Ainsworth” Silver chipped in with a fake smile on his face.

“Big four?”

Hearing the names Alex and Silver called those mocking them were stunned and terrified at the same time. They gaze a the duo and realized they have been blind all this while, how will important figures like the big four allow their heirs to cooperate with a small failing group like the Angel Beats Agency? Rumble!

Rumble!

Rumble!

Rumble!

The ground shook violently as countless feet could be heard. An army of mindless beings rushed forward, charging toward them. At first, they could barely see the enemy but soon they were faced with an army of Losts heading their way. Alex watched with narrowed eyebrows as they approached. For someone who has always felt confident in his strength, his resolve was shaken a bit as he saw the army approach.

“Leave now!” Alex said with a stern look on his face.

Tracy and Jason quickly ran into the car and escaped, leaving Alex and Silver behind.

“I guess this is it? We are living the life of guardians” Silver said with a bitter smile.

“If we do this, we will lose...” Alex said coldly.

It didn’t matter if the Lost is a child. As long as they wield the beast gear they wield the strength comparable to wolf-level beasts.

Whoosh!

Golden Angelic suddenly sprouted from Angel’s back as his body shot into the air. He wore a stern look on his face as countless golden feathers escaped his wing, racing towards the Losts!

“what the hell is he doing? He’s going to kill them!” Alex complained.

“They are lost... There is no redemption!” Silver said coldly as he watched the golden feathers smash into the enemy formation.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Explosions erupted as the golden feathers smashed into the enemy lines but surprisingly it couldn’t hit one. With their little bodies, the Losts were nimble enough to evade the feather attacks almost effortlessly.

“Impossible! This is not a fight we can win!” Alex muttered in shock.
