DEVIANT

Chapter 76

Chapter 76

76 Chapter 76: A month later

Sage’s power poured out fiercely as he struggled with the strange being for the buildings. His eyes flared up with even more power as his purple power clashed with the invisible power, creating powerful shock waves.

Klay watched the battle take place and he couldn’t help but frown. He could tell Sage was holding back since he didn’t want to harm the kids within the building, meanwhile, the enemy in question also possessed an unexplainable power. His sheer power far surpassed that of the A rating making it harder for Sage to compete with him.

“Vendetta!” Sage called out calmly.

To many, it sounded like a scream but to Alex, it sounded like a question. Vendetta stood and gazed above thoughtfully for a while and frowned.

“Let’s go... We have done what we can... This is not our territory, we are under no obligation to reveal all our cards here” Vendetta said coldly, and only then did Sage let go of the buildings and descend slowly.

He still looked perfectly normal, except for the single drop of blood which rolled down his nostril.

“I was pushed this hard?” Sage was slightly stunned as he pulled out his handkerchief and wiped the blood away.

“What now?” Klay asked.

“We leave... We have no business here” Sage said and Vendetta nodded in approval.

.....

A bright purple shell quickly covered the trio and they vanished.

Alex remained on the ground, unmoving. His eyes were lifeless as he gazed at the three members before they vanished. With a glance, even a fool can tell the culture had members slightly over twenty. They were in their early twenties, meaning they have achieved more.

Alex wasn’t sure he would get to their level when he reaches their age and this made him depressed.

“Alex!”

“Alex!”

He heard Tracy and Silver’s concerned voices and that brought a small smile to his face. He silently shut his eyes and drifted in the dark space beckoning to him. Meanwhile, Tracy, Jason, and Silver were horrified while Angel was frozen by Alex’s injuries. It was obvious most of his injuries were as a result of him trying to fight on the same level as Cherry with his secret technique.

His fists were a bloody mess and even his fingers were broken and twisted in different forms. He looked terribly pale and worn out making them wonder how hard he fought just to stay alive.

Why the hell did they even get involved in a task like this?

They got too carried away and took more than they could handle?

Meanwhile, Silver couldn’t help but wonder what brought three culture representatives to the United States. He knew since they are here, it also means representatives from other parts of the world should be here as well.

He couldn’t help but wonder what would bring them here.

The news of what happened spread across the world and everyone felt disturbed. Forcing kids to become Losts and killing them outrightly was something beyond inhuman. While the people were terrified of the Tyrant gang they were more pissed at the guardians.

Most guardians considered the matter unimportant that’s why all mid rated guardians to high rated guardians’ requests to get involved in the matter declined. They simply assumed it was not worth the time of people of their status, not expecting things to evolve to something this tragic.

The general population was furious at the other guardians and guardian association so they all began patronizing the Angel Beats agency. Not only did this Agency fight for them even their leader, Angel considered this matter serious and got involved. Many considered him a good example of what a guardian should be and because of that his approval ratings and rank rose instantly to the number one of the B ratings while that of other guardians dropped.

Meanwhile, Alex’s fame kept rising at a staggering pace. In just a few months he defeated Akila of the God set, earning the title Battle God. The next was he fought against an evolving mutant beast, defeated it, and saved residents of that area, and now he fought against the infamous Cherry and stood his ground!

Even though he ended up losing, many people saw this as a victory and they chanted his name like a celebrity where ever they went.

Meanwhile, a piece of shocking news followed soon. The Culture got involved in the incident but a hidden SS-rated expert stopped them from saving the kids. The three buildings dragged into the sky vanished and till now none of the kids have been found.

Soon many began suspecting the leaders of the big four families to be involved. They are practically the only SS-rated guardians that can be seen anywhere on the continent. The representatives of the culture were interviewed but none decided to speak on the matter leaving reporters helpless.

A lot happened and even in a month, the topic was still fiercely debated. Alex remained indoors, recovering. While Jason could heal his physical wounds, Alex’s mental health had been affected. He seemed down and unwilling to get involved with any other hero matter.

The point he and Silver already acquired from the Tyrant gang incident was more than enough to give them the best grade they can get from the internship.

“Hey...” Tracy said as she slowly opened the door.

Seeing Alex under the sheets at all times broke her. She missed the foolishly confident guy who she fell for.

“What do you want?” Alex said coldly as he sat up and frowned.

For the past month, she has been the one bothering him almost every day. He appreciated the effort but he couldn’t get himself to understand that his hero business is not for him. He is more suited to be a hunter than a guardian!

“I came here to apologize about the other day” Tracy said shyly as she approached and sat next to him on the bed.

“What day?” Alex seemed confused.

“The day I stole your first kiss and ran...” Tracy said with a red face while trying to avoid making eye contact with Alex who was also stunned.
