Chapter 97

Chapter 97

97 Chapter 97: A real man!

“YOU!” Alex bellowed furiously but it was already too late. He had already washed enough time for the vines to recover!

Slash!

Numerous small thread-sized vines raced forward, piercing into his body at various spots, causing blood to squirt out.

“Shit!” Alex muttered in shock as he tried to retreat but his body refused to respond to his commands.

It was already shocking that the small vines could penetrate his silver statue body and even more shocking that the wooden hilt was trying to take over his body now!

He suddenly lost consciousness and found himself dragged into a dark room! A fierce green reptilian pair of eyes were pinned on him as numerous vines lash onto him like a whip! Binding his movements.

Everything happened so quickly, Alex could barely understand what was going on, not to talk of attempting to fight against it!

In the real world, his eyes had already turned green and his body had green veins bulging out in different places.

“Alex!.. Alex!” Tracy cried out.

.....

Swoosh!

Damian maintained the same indifferent look as he arrived. He had seen everything that happened but even then he didn’t look moved. He shot Tracy a cold glance as he muttered some words that shattered her heart.

“You are a burden to him... Why tag along when you know you are useless? At this rate he will die because of you” Damian said before stepping on the hand covered in vines!

Boom!

A shockwave erupted and One sword let out a painful scream! The vines connected to Alex’s body withered away instantly as Damian casually grabbed the vines and tore them off One sword hand.

The wooden hilt fell to the ground and the strange symbols around it dimmed. All the vines across the room quickly withered away!

Bang!

Alex fell to his knees breathing heavily. Tracy had already gotten off his body and now she gazed at Alex with numerous bloody holes all across his body, she realized he got hurt trying to protect her... If she didn’t tag along, he wouldn’t be in such a condition.

“Are you okay?” Alex asked her while trying to control his breath.

His question was like the final blow and she broke down, crying while apologizing. Alex was stunned at first since he didn’t know what happened but he soon guessed Damian said something while he was unconscious.

He didn’t confront Damian though since he knew whatever he said must be true and that’s why it got to her. He shoved both hands into his pockets and grabbed the two beast cores and began absorbing ignoring whatever is going on between One sword and Damian or Tracy.

“Did you know the sealed artifact had this side effect?” Damian asked One sword coldly. It felt like the next answer will determine his fate!

“No young master... I have used it a couple of times... It has always drained my blood in exchange for its services but it has never attempted to take over my body...” One sword answered honestly.

“Do whatever you wish... I will accept whatever punishment you seem suitable” One sword added with a slight bow.

“You are lucky those killed today were only C rated humans at best... But my brother did get hit and hurt... Your punishment will be decided when we return...” Damian said calmly.

His eyes shifted to Tracy who was cleaning her wet face and then to Alex who sat like a Buddha statue with his eyes closed.

It may be little and almost unnoticeable but Damian noticed the hole on his shoulder closing up. The hole with was the size of a fist at first was now half that size.

Does he practice a combat technique that grants healing abilities?

Just how many secrets do you have little brother?

“Do you still have enough strength to continue?” Damian asked calmly.

“Yes! Strangely I didn’t lose much energy this time from using the sealed artifact” One sword said eagerly. It looked like he was very willing to redeem himself.

“Good... Then look after her during the journey... Derik and I will handle anyone we meet on the way” Damian said.

“We are still going?” Tracy asked with a surprised look.

“Of course, we are still going... We already came this far after sacrificing so many people... Our target is in the building... We may not get this chance again” Alex said as he slowly opened his eyes.

He shot Tracy a glance but she avoided his eyes and looked away. With the little power left in the beast cores, he could barely completely heal his injuries. He could only close them up and prevent bleeding.

“Let’s go!” Alex said as he hopped to his feet and began walking away with Damian.

Right now, they were already surrounded by enemies so he had no time to comfort Tracy. Damian was satisfied with his behavior! He expected Alex to have fallen head over heels for Tracy and even though he could tell Alex really likes her he appreciated the fact that Alex knew when to be soft, loving, and tender as a lover and when to be rigid and firm as a man.

That small line is what differentiates real men from the others the world call simps.

“How many secret techniques do you practice?... How are you able to heal your wounds? There are lots of things you are hiding from us” Damian said with a raised eyebrow.

“Thanks for saving me... I owe you one” Alex responded without glancing at him, making Damian smile.

He could tell Alex didn’t want to talk about it so he dropped the topic. By the way, finding out his secrets was never one of his tasks.

“We are both at the war front now... If anything happens, we will end up dealing with it... Reminds me of when we were younger... We always teamed up against other members of the Briggs during practice and we always won... They always called us the invincible duo back then” Damian said with a smile.

“You were always running ahead... Watching my back and protecting me... You were the one who was invincible not me” Alex responded with a bitter smile too.
