Chapter 186: Killing the Tyrant (1)
"Did you guys went crazy, or you're looking for death? Feeding radioactive materials to the Tyrant?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. Was it not because it was a five against one right now, he would have charged forward and beaten Tane to a bloody pulp right now.
To think that the radioactive material was the choice of food given to the highly volatile Tyrant.
"Huh… Huh… You can't blame it on brother Tane alone. I have the responsibility too." Shaun appeared from the destroyed entrance with disorganized breathing. It was evident that he ran all the way from the other building to here without stopping in between.
"The two of you, come over and speak with me. As for the others, get the fuck down and help my men to mow the zombies." Zhang Qin Feng pointed at the two and ordered the others to go downstairs to provide assistance to his people.
Waiting for the others to leave the rooftop, Zhang Qin Feng took a can of soda out from his backpack and opened it before the two local survivors.
Both of them were swallowing a mouthful of saliva as they heard the sound of the carbonated bubbles popping before them. They had never tried a drink like that before. Still, from how satisfied Zhang Qin Feng looked after taking a big gulp, it must be as satisfying as having intercourse with a female survivor.
"What are you two waiting for? Speak." Zhang Qin Feng said.
"BANG!" Satella fired another shot. This means she had about five bullets left.
"We don't have all day. Come on?" Zhang Qin Feng urged them to start talking.
The two looked at one other and eventually decided to pour everything out. While the two were clueless about the culprit behind the attack infecting the leaders with the Seed Crystal Virus, they weren't oblivious about what they've been feeding their ex-boss.
"Months before our leader got infected, there's actually an accident on where we're storing the Radioactive Material to be used as the generator's fuel. The leakage was quite serious, and two of our members fall sick almost immediately after getting exposed to some of the materials."
"Next thing we know, the Substance and Matter Printer is broken. This causes many inconveniences to the base as we're unable to keep manufacturing the products we needed to sustain the people we have." Shaun was the first to start talking before Tane continued. Based on their looks, Shaun does have some qualities as a soldier, but not Tane.
"What's your program, Tane?" Zhang Qin Feng asked out of his curiosity.
"Engineering. I'm given with the knowledge of Electrical Engineering program from the day I am born." Tane replied.
"The barricade on the stairs. That was done by you, correct?" Zhang Qin Feng continued.
"Yes. Those barricades were my idea, but the whole construct was under our ex-boss order, not on my own. This place was supposed to be our last fortress for escape. That's also why most of the supplies were outside here." Tane pointed at the stacks of medical supplies, rations, ammunition, and maintenance equipment.
Zhang Qin Feng couldn't help but give Tane a thumbs up on this collection of goods. Even Satella would be drooling for these supplies, let alone the scavengers and raiders out there. The two of them continued with the story-telling after receiving Zhang Qin Feng's praise.
The broken Substance and Matter Printer forces the local survivors to go out and search for new supplies and spare parts to repair. Although the new maintenance part was found almost instantly, it did not solve the leaking radioactive material problem.
Soon, one of them, or the so-called second leader after their ex-boss, proposes to move the Radioactive Material to the open area. Since the facility has about six open spaces for multiple purposes, losing one of them won't be a problem at all. That proposal was accepted straight away, and moving the material was done instantly.
After moving the material, things got worst.
The place was previously used to store the material caved in and allowed a horde of zombies to crawl out from there. The reason behind this sudden arrival of zombies is unknown, and luckily, it happened only once. After sacrificing close to one-tenth of their manpower to cover the entrance, it was eventually closed.
But things only get worst from there.
Nobody knew how and when did their leader get infected. Worst of all, she was pretty hardworking during the moving of the materials. By the time the survivors discovered that she was infected, Tane and Shaun noticed some aftereffects from exposure to the radioactive material.
Losing their leader was quite an impact on these survivors. She was the pillar of the motivation behind all of them. Relying on a hint of faint hope in them, they injected some of the Decrystalization Serum on her when the survivor had the chance. But the exposure to radioactive material made the serum work less effective than they have thought.
It was unavoidable that her condition will get worst by the minute. The moment she started to move aimlessly, the local survivors knew that she's beyond saving. Respecting her choice of going to the open area if she were to turn, they allowed her to do what she asked for.
That's where their nightmare happened.
Her mutation went faster than they have thought. Instead of stargazing, the zombified ex-boss of theirs started to devour the radioactive material like it was the most delicious thing in this world. Afraid that something would get worst, they quickly open fire at her, but it was too late. The skin that was injured by the bullets heals faster than the damage they could inflict on her.
When escorting her into the open area, a few guys close to her immediately turned into her food. Those that were left alive turned into zombies from a mere scratch or wound. While she's out of control, her scream could even summon more zombies and attracting those wandering outside to try and invade this place.
They struggled and struggled.
The second one fell on the second week and the third and fourth consecutively from the loss of their first leader. Not even the culprit behind this attack that aimed at their leaders was found.
That eventually continued until today.
