Chapter 290: Interest (2)
"Boss!" the soldiers patrolling the Turbine Town proceeded with a salutation when Zhang Qin Feng walked past them.
"Return to what you're doing. Are the department leaders around?" Zhang Qin Feng casually replied. But considering that he could save some time searching around, he thought about asking the soldiers for some clue.
"Chief Valerian is in the shelter doing research. If we're not mistaken, Chief Victor and Satella are at Chief Marvin's place." one of the soldiers answered. He's confident of their whereabouts because he just came out from that two places.
"Good. Take this with you, but eat it after your duty hours." Zhang Qin Feng tossed two chocolate bars to the soldier and left in a hurry.
"Milk Chocolate with Ganache and whole Hazelnut?"
"What is that?" the soldier asked.
"Who cares. Let's go back and eat it after work. We're lucky that we're going back to the MCC, and there won't be anyone caught us with something nice." another soldier said.
After leaving the soldiers, Zhang Qin Feng soon arrived at the new building Marvin used. It was twice the size of the previous building back in the Wind Base. The change is a must because the shelter kept producing clones to increases their manpower.
And Marvin's department was the one that needed manpower the most.
Still, it was not easy for them to laid their control firmly on this Turbine Town. While manpower is temporarily solved, the issue with resources, building, and management is still problematic.
They'll need twice the number of people to refurbish the town entirely before it is suitable to be called a safe zone.
Furthermore, there's one mistake Zhang Qin Feng would have to pay for his recklessness in expanding his territories.
Right now, the Wind Base is scattered into four locations. The hill, which is the current headquarters, the Strand Electronics Recycling Hub, the recently established Wind Base Outpost, and the Turbine Town.
The Turbine Town is connected to the current Wind Base and Outpost through Motorway and the recycling hub through the waste tunnel. But the connection between the outpost and recycling hub has to be done by going through the Wind Base.
Right now, there's no inconvenience between them, but there's no promise that a problem like this won't arise in the future.
But problems aside, there's a good thing that came from controlling the Turbine Town.
It was near the sea. Hence there's plenty of opportunities for Zhang Qin Feng to invest in Naval weaponry. Furthermore, since the post-apocalypse matter is considered solved, Zhang Qin Feng can let this place develop slowly.
Meanwhile, he will be focusing on the modern world first.
"Marvin, I'll need you to cooperate with Adam and Frank to make me something powerful. Take a look at this." Zhang Qin Feng passed the tablet computer to Marvin and used the Luna Device to get Adam and Frank to this building.
The two arrived after ten or so minutes. And during that time, Zhang Qin Feng kept quiet and allowed Marvin to focus on the blueprint.
After a while more waiting, Marvin put the tablet computer aside and spoke with Zhang Qin Feng.
"We could make this, boss. But a few features of the Patrol Ship would have to be taken out because they're no longer applicable. Would that be alright?" Marvin asked.
To make sure Zhang Qin Feng knew what he would take out, Marvin made a copy of the Patrol Ship's blueprint and used their current imaging program to create a vivid boat model.
Firstly. Marvin pointed at the communication system that was considered too advanced for modern world use. The next thing would be the weaponry system, where the current Turbine Town cannot produce.
Then, the adjustment moved to the living cabins and followed with the pantry. The adjustments were minor, but it was better than nothing to provide ampler space and conveniences to the sailors.
Lastly would be the weapons on the deck.
Marvin tried his best to redesign the boat accordingly to Zhang Qin Feng's needs and eventually came up with a quick and economical solution. Since All Zhang Qin Feng was asking is between three to five vessels, it was more than enough for them to gain experience on what to do with it.
From Marvin's plan, they'll begin with building three boats first. All of them will be fitted with two upgraded Close-In Weapon Systems or CIWS. It was a challenge to Marvin, as he had to tinker with the electronics and creates a program for the CIWS to respond automatically with the least manual control.
But he's confident that through the technology they could harness right now, creating three patrol boats with front and back CIWS turrets wouldn't be a problem.
As for any additional features, they can be added or modify later. To make it maintainable by the engineers in Zhang Qin Feng's world, Marvin had to make it easy and straightforward, without too many sophisticated parts. This was a challenge to him and yet, can be considered another breakthrough in technological design.
While sophisticated weaponry was created to reduce the possibility that the technology was stolen or imitated, the same commonsense cannot be applied to Zhang Qin Feng. It would take them years to come up with the same product even if Zhang Qin Feng voluntarily gave them a sample in the name of research.
And perhaps Zhang Qin Feng's side would have gone through two to three upgrades by then during the few years they used for research.
Zhang Qin Feng gave the approval to Marvin to proceed.
He might be limited in his knowledge about naval warfare, but what does that have to do with him? As long the people serving him were given the latest weapon he had in his arsenal, even a group of crack soldiers could compete against a squadron of veteran soldiers.
Coming out from Marvin's building with Satella, she suddenly grabbed his hand before they walked further from the building.
"Feng… I'm worried about something." Satella said.
"Huh? What's wrong?" Zhang Qin Feng asked.
"I hope I'm just paranoid because our territory is much bigger now. But it seems that there are more and more zombies coming at us." Satella said.
"Let's just be more careful. We should slowly increase our number of officers too to keep up with your work. I know it's been very hard for you lately." Zhang Qin Feng answered.
"En. Alright." Satella nodded.
