The rest of the bear bandits were finished off by Fontu and Hurdo, the other early-perennial gorillas, in only a couple of minutes. All cores were easily gathered and dispersed accordingly among the gorillas, who all went back to bed peacefully.
In the morning, Rathe ordered that the carcasses be scattered across the territory as a warning to anyone wanting trouble and a sign to the tribes and clans that we’re here to stay.
Vloz gathered Oli and the other perennials to solidify their plans before having to share them with the tribes and clans of their new territory. It took a couple of days to finalize everything, but they were all very excited to see their plan come together and to build up a new town as the capital of their new Iron territory.
After seeing the scattered bear corpses, each of the tribes or clans sent someone to visit the gorilla clan within one sun. Four of the five local tribes and clans sent their chief and only one sent an envoy.
They lined themselves up according to the power their tribe or clan held. The two tribes, whose chiefs were both peak-elders, were at the back. The three clans, whose chiefs were all early-perennials, stood at the front.
The gorillas welcomed them all the same and brought them to the center of the settlement, where Rathe, Vloz, Ania, Oli, Fontu, and Hurdo all exited the large hut. All of the chiefs froze in worry, sensing the five perennials in front of them.
“Don’t worry, we’re not going to do anything crazy,” Rathe spoke, “We only want two things. First, what news or issues do you have to share with us? Hopefully, we can help you.”
The chiefs and the envoy all looked at each other in disbelief. After having so many self-centered rulers come and go from the territory, they had never had one that wanted to genuinely help.
.....
They took turns bringing up the current conditions of their tribe or clan and mentioned any issues if any that they wanted the gorillas help to resolve.
Once they had all finished, they were surprised that it was the younger gorilla that responded.
“My name is Oli and I am the Iron-body Gorilla clan’s young master. Me and everyone else here agree to help you with your problems and will take care of them immediately. That is why I now mention the second thing we seek, and that is to unify the territory under one town and eventually build up a city. For that purpose, we ask that all of you relocate and bring your tribes and clans here, that way we can divvy up the land and lay the foundation for the town. What do you say?”
The two tribal chiefs accepted immediately. After some thought, the two clan chiefs present agreed as well. Only the envoy remained silent, unable to commit to such a thing with his position in the clan.
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault that your chief didn’t bother coming himself,” Oli comforted the envoy. “To ensure that you all return here safely, we will send with you an escort to protect you and guide you back. And for the Thick-skin Stallions to the north, we will be sending two perennials and two elders to take care of any bandits that you may run into. We heard rumors about the bandits and have been planning to stop them for some time now. This would be the perfect opportunity, so please don’t worry anymore.”
All of the chiefs were speechless. To help was one thing, to send two perennials to annihilate a group of bandits was another. If they had known that they could ask for such large favors, they would’ve done so earlier.
The envoy was unsure of how the clan chief would take the news but had no other choice since his escort was made up of Fontu and two peak-elders.
Each of the chiefs showed their escorts the way and hurried back as fast as they could.
Vloz and Ania would stay behind to prepare the next part of the plan so that when the tribes and clans arrive things will already be in motion. Oli was excited because he would accompany Rathe and Hurdo to the border. Ania was against it but since there were rumors of human bandits at the border, she had to let Oli join them. He rushed out to meet up with the escorting gorillas as they quickly departed for the northern border.
