Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2729 Meeting Teacher Assassin

Chapter 2729 Meeting Teacher Assassin

"…"

Davis watched Myria leave before he returned his gaze to his palm and took out the status plate to activate it.

Instantly, a projection appeared before him, one that was shaped into a black-robed man.

The projection was wavy, but it was colorful. His skin was pale, and his face was uncovered. He looked young but didn't seem to have eyes, literally, as it was not present. Instead, there was a faint pitch-black vortex that seemed to drive fear amongst those who looked at him.

However, Davis merely blinked as he saw the black-robed man smile deeply.

"Surprised? I had this status plate specially made for you, one that would allow us to communicate face-to-face since you're so unwilling to meet me."

"Haha," Davis couldn't help but chuckle at Deathseeker's shrill yet grave voice, "Let's meet then."

"Are you serious?"

His words caused Deathseeker's brows to rise, causing Davis to smilingly shake his head.

"To be able to contact me using this status plate that's supposed to only represent my status as a Ghost Tear Hall's disciple, you must probably be near. After all, an item like this wouldn't have much range."

"Ahahahaha! Lad, to have a gem like you, I must have done something fortunate in my previous life. Come meet me if you dare."

Deathseeker's smile faded, "I'm at the southeastern end of your sect's headquarters, named the Serene Rain Mountain. It doesn't matter if you bring some elders with you, but I will be waiting for you."

His figure then disappeared without receiving Davis's response, leaving Davis looking at the empty space as though he was in thought.

"Master, are we going?"

"It's dangerous."

Suddenly, two voices echoed inside of him. They belonged to Eldia and Nadia.

The former had yet to reach the Immortal King Stage, but her power was enough to battle against Immortal Kings, and the latter had the prowess to battle against Late Stage Immortal Kings. The both of them became worried once Davis enunciated his decision to go out to meet Deathseeker, someone who was known to be a master in assassinating Immortal Kings and even Immortal Emperors.

"We're going alright."

Davis replied, "As Myria said, this is a problem I should face. If ignored, it might burst on me. Let's hear out what Deathseeker has to say. But, it's not like I'm going to go without any preparations."

Hearing his words, Nadia and Eldia also calmed, knowing that they could trust his decisions. As far as they could think, his ability to think ahead had put them in an advantageous position most of the time.

Davis did a few things that cost him a few hours before informing a few people about his absence before leaving the sect. However, he exited the island and used Nadia's concealment to exit the sect's gates.

Nadia's concealment was extremely powerful that even Late Stage Immortal King posted at important locations in patrol couldn't sense her. They even passed right beside them, only to get caught by a formation rather than their senses.

Nonetheless, after confirming who he was, those Immortal Kings let him go without making a fuss, although it did waste his time a bit.

As he flew along with Nadia outside, he wondered if Deathseeker was still waiting for him in the Serene Rain Mountain. It was nearby and still within the sensing radius of Immortal Emperors situated within the sect, making him wonder if Deathseeker wasn't afraid.

If the other party was this daring, then he thought something must be up already.

'Either he is with the Ghost Tear Hall's elders or...'

Davis thought of another possibility, but that consideration made him shiver slightly as that was even more dangerous. However, he still flew along with Nadia to the Serene Rain Mountain, finally arriving in the zone.

The Serene Rain Mountain was a huge mountain that looked like a huge rock with many waterfalls on top. Its height was beyond a few thousand meters. Atop its summit was a hidden shrine, one that was connected with a labyrinth of caverns. The entrance to that labyrinth was right where the mountain met the sky.

Since there wasn't a single person in sight, Davis assumed that Deathseeker wasn't inside. Instead, he made his way around the mountain, searching for any traces of death energy.

He wasn't surprised when he found one etched onto a tree. He went ahead and waved his hand over it as he released his death energy, the two of the energies mixing to reveal a gleam of a marker that displayed a direction in a certain way.

He made his way around the innumerable waterfalls that sounded like silence as they didn't make much sound at all, which made him understand why this place would be named the Serena Rain Mountain. He chanced upon many hidden clues before coming across a cave hidden behind one of the waterfalls. It was filled with mist.

Inside was a single person. A tall and lean man dressed in black clothes, his hair tied up, with an appearance that was reminiscent of a ghost that had awoken from a coffin, sat on a rock. He opened his eyes upon Davis's arrival, but his unspoken look and eye sockets that swirled like a pitch-black vortex were utterly terrifying to look at.

Davis knew that if Deathseeker's assassination targets saw his eyes, they might momentarily forget themselves in fear instead of dodging or blocking. He felt those eyes just weren't for show but a terrifying ocular technique.

Just like Mystic Diviner Hailac's eyes lost their vision, but she developed her own way of sensing things surrounding her, he believed that Deathseeker also had something in return to gain greater power or some skill that would allow him greater maneuverability or edge over his opponents for having these eyes.

Nonetheless, he wasn't really interested in turning his eyes into those if it was permanent.

"You really came. I'm impressed with how long you've evaded me. As expected of my disciple."

Deathseeker stood up, his black vortex eyes glaring at Davis as death energy seeped around him.

"Just so you know, I'm not going anywhere, so don't try to convince me to leave."

Davis said, causing Deathseeker to react as though he heard something funny.

"Why would I?" He grinned at Davis, but his gaze then fell beside him, "The wolf beside you that's concealed. I'd never seen or heard something like her before. Does she belong to the death-attributed wolf species that had gone extinct? You fucked her to gain these powers, didn't you?"

"You could say that but watch your mouth. Don't you dare talk about my wives in this context."

Davis's voice was cold, causing Deathseeker to grin at him before he threw something at Davis, causing him to wave his hand and catch something.

"Here, there's a mission for you."

He saw that it was a jade slip.

Using his senses to check what it was, his brows heavily narrowed as a sense of frustration filled his heart.

'Godwin Family, those fuckers...'

Inside the jade slip was the mission to kill Myria, and the rewards were ten million High-Level Immortal Crystals, along with the chance to learn Godwin Family's spatial techniques.

What are 10,000,000 High-Level Immortal Crystals? They could range from anywhere between 10,000,000,000 to 100,000,000,000 Mid-Level Immortal Crystals due to the skewed exchange rate stemming from the rarity of High-Level Immortal Crystals.

Such wealth could make any average Immortal King turn into a heavenly genius! Moreover, the Godwin Family's spatial arts were something that everyone craved. It was known to be one of the top spatial arts to train in, allowing one to become immensely powerful by controlling space and shattering the opponent's ability to maneuver, essentially making them a sitting duck for slaughter.

It was like a giant wave of a tsunami crashing toward them. If they could not force through it, they would simply get washed over and die.

Still, Davis smiled as he returned his gaze to Deathseeker.

"Ahaha! You have a face that says, 'I'll kill you for targeting my woman' ahahaha!"

Deathseeker pointed at Davis and laughed boisterously, appearing to find this extremely humorous.

"She's not mine, but I'm working towards it, so yes, I'll kill you for targeting my woman."

Davis unceremoniously answered, causing Deathseeker's laughter to stop before he gazed at Davis with a smirk.

"Women. You don't need them to become strong, so why are you wasting time on them? That is my only concern about you. Get rid of that weakness. If anything, you should use them like you used that magical beast beside you for you to conjure death energy, but no one knows her name or status as your wife."

Davis's pupils shrunk as though he was angered.

"Already giving advice as my teacher? Sigh." However, Davis heaved a breath as he looked away exhaustedly, "You see, I live my life how I want, and you live yours. I can see that you want to provoke me into attacking you so that you can see how strong I am, and that's- going to happen! Heaven Cleaving Abyss!"

*Boom!~*

The color of the atmosphere changed, and a pitch-black wave of energy cut through the air, surging toward Deathseeker as it caused his eyes to widen.
