Chapter 3783 Eternal Twilight Border Town
Eternal Twilight Border Town.
That was the name of the port town that sends transport ships; also called Realm Ships that transport people from one realm to another. Of course, people could travel through space on their own, but doing so would be dangerous as there were many factors that could lead them to become stranded or robbed by space bandits, and they would finally encounter death in the vast expanse of the universe.
The border town also served as a trade center.
The marketplace there was filled with goods from the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm and goods that were being exported to the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm. There were a huge amount of raw materials, whether it be ingredients for alchemy, spices for foods, precious ores for armaments, and artifacts. There were also a lot of finished goods.
Traders from all over the Three-Headed Hydra Realm would've visited this place or other port towns at least once if their shop was of a sizeable venture. In short, it was a hub of economic activity, always bustling with people day and night, but due to the lawless nature of the land, swindling and robbing were also common.
It was a haven for traders and bandits alike.
Evelynn and Zenova Artoria landed on a palace's platform and alighted from the transport ship along with so many people.
"Are we heading there?"
Evelynn gestured to the southeast end of the Eternal Twilight Border Town.
There were two towers, one on either side of the mountain hill. They appeared to be manned by guards, but there were also a significant number of people moving there. At a glance, it was obvious that was the port as Realm Ships could be seen parked there.
They were humongous, about five kilometers long and five hundred meters wide.
Beyond the port, there was only space.
If they jumped off, would it be considered suicide?
Since they could fly, Evelynn guessed not, but she didn't know if there was any strange yet severe pull that would disallow them from flying there.
"Yes, but not exactly."
Zenova Artoria responded.
This time, the two of them wore black robes and a hood, fully covering their features. They looked as suspicious as anyone beside them because most of the people in this land were bandits, evildoers, people from shady backgrounds, or those who simply had an enormous bounty on their heads. As long as they didn't find trouble or enter any secured area, trouble wouldn't find them.
They headed down the platform, which led straight to the multitude of streets at various altitudes of the town. They walked in the southern direction, walking past many stalls and stores. Some stall owners even tried calling out to them, screaming that their products were cheap.
However, they paid no heed and continued walking, occasionally looking towards the port in the southeast as they saw the colossal Realm Ships docked near the two towers, appearing to be waiting for all the passengers to fill in before taking off.
The hull of the Realm Ship appeared to be a dark, metallic gray with intricate patterns of blue lines running along its surface. These lines appeared to be a part of the ship's runes, which powers many of its functions, including providing a boost to the ship's durability and allowing it to even endure attacks from an Empyrean.
The front of the ship appeared sleek and aerodynamic, with a pointed bow that helped breeze through space. Massive thrusters and stabilizers were located at the rear, along with small maneuvering thrusters on the sides of the rear for precise control.
It seemed that the journey could be tumultuous in the event of a spatial storm.
Evelynn had seen such big ships even in the First Haven World, but none of them possessed such durability. If this crashed into a city, then the explosion alone would take out the entire core region, inner region, and perhaps even the outer region.
Such a marvelous construct made her inwardly sigh, making her want to board and travel in one of its luxurious compartments, but she couldn't afford to be found out as the guards could be looking for Inheritors of the Candidacy with a blood crystal or even Divergents with Mystic Diviners present.
Although the search had severely dropped in cities and towns, the ports of the various realms were still administered to a heavy check. She couldn't afford to be caught.
Finally, they arrived in a small building near the southern end of the land. Further beyond this building was just space, but from here, various cargo ships were sent out.
In the true immortal world, it seemed spatial rings were scarce since most of the spatial attribute ores were long mined to the last piece of ore and used to make spatial rings of all kinds. They were targeted from time immemorial and or monopolized, so no new spatial rings were manufactured, leading to people having to transport their goods using constructs.
They could forget about acquiring new spatial rings for a low price unless someone suddenly discovered a new source of spatial ore mountain or a new realm was born.
At the same time, it was easier for officials to tax open goods instead of goods that were enclosed in spatial rings, so when exporting or importing to realms, it was demanded that any established company's trade goods be transported through constructs instead of spatial rings.
The guards were originally placed here to see if people were smuggling goods using spatial rings. Then again, there were also underground businesses that ensured people were able to transport their goods without needing to pay taxes for a cheaper price.
Zenova Artoria tracked down one such underground business and talked to the people there.
A seemingly harmless bald man appeared in front of them, and they exchanged pleasantries.
She was then taken to a docking area along with Evelynn, where many more people were standing in a queue. However, the two of them didn't stand in the queue and were taken inside very quickly.
Evelynn looked at Zenova Artoria, wondering if something was wrong, but it turned out that she had already paid quite a sum to secure two spots.
They both boarded a two-hundred-meter-long and thirty-meter-wide ship. The cargo ship was officially registered with the realm and transported legal, taxed goods, but there were only a minor number of spots available in hidden compartments within the cargo area.
They entered the hidden compartment along with twenty-eight other people, making it for a total of thirty seats.
After fifteen minutes, their compartment shook.
It seemed that the cargo ship was taking off. They were finally on their way to the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm without encountering any trouble?
Evelynn was doubtful.
But after ten minutes, she guessed they should've left the port already and should be in space.
Evelynn was intrigued by the whole process, which went smoothly.
She couldn't help but look at Zenova Artoria, not knowing what she would do without her. Even if she had arrived at this point, it would've been entirely another journey, filled with numerous hurdles that she may have cleared, but chances were that she may have left a large number of trails that would lead to her identity being found sooner or later.
"Finally, there's no way we will get caught now!"
Someone in the crowd roared with an excited expression. It was a tall, lanky man with a facial structure similar to that of a snake, his eyes slanted as though he couldn't be any more shadier.
"Haha. That's true."
A man whose body was huge, like a stalwart tower, laughed lightly, "Those guards have been making it difficult for us to travel for the last three days. I have no idea what it is about, but they're strict with their search at the checkpoints, checking all our identities. That would be problematic for us. Isn't that right, everyone?"
He looked around at the others, seemingly trying to strike up a conversation.
It just so happened that Evelynn and Zenova Artoria were seated beside them, so he looked at them.
However, Evelynn and Zenova Artoria didn't respond, causing his eyes to narrow.
