Chapter 16
C16 – Get Out
Loong Chen and Bai Xiaohan successfully entered Jinling City after passing through the city gate’s security check.
“Do you have a communicator?”
Out of the blue, Loong Chen inquired of Bai Xiaohan. A communicator was akin to a phone, something Loong Chen used to possess but lost.
“I’ve got a communicator.”
Bai Xiaohan nodded and produced a communicator from her pocket. Loong Chen promptly dialed his sister’s number.
To his consternation, there was no response from the communicator. Loong Chen’s brows furrowed in concern, a growing unease settling over him.
His parents had vanished when he was young. His sister was his sole remaining family. He couldn’t allow anything to happen to her.
“Senior Loong Chen.”
Noticing Loong Chen’s troubled expression, Bai Xiaohan intended to inquire about the situation, but just as she began speaking, Loong Chen vanished, leaving only the communication device behind on the ground.
A feeling of emptiness welled up in Bai Xiaohan’s heart.
Jinling High School was just an ordinary school. It was also where Loong Chen’s younger sister, Loong Kui, attended classes.
Loong Chen arrived at Loong Kui’s classroom only to find it empty. This heightened his unease. Logically, she should have been in class at this hour.
“Are you Loong Kui’s brother?”
Suddenly, a little girl appeared in front of Loong Chen. He recognized her; she was one of Loong Kui’s close friends.
Thinking she might know Loong Kui’s whereabouts, he hurriedly inquired, “Yu, where’s Loong Kui?”
“She went to look for you. You’ve been gone for a few days, and she’s been quite worried. Your girlfriend also came looking for her earlier, wanting to take her to find you.”
Yu’s words ignited Loong Chen’s anger.
What did that Lin Qian want by taking Loong Kui away?
“When did this happen?”
Loong Chen asked in a rush. His apparent anxiety puzzled Yu, but she quickly responded.
As soon as Yu finished speaking, she was taken aback to see Loong Chen’s figure vanish abruptly. She rubbed her eyes forcefully, feeling utterly amazed.
Following his departure from Jinling High School, Loong Chen made a beeline for the Dihao Bar.
The establishment was owned by Mo Fann, the wealthy second-generation heir who had murdered him and left his body in Death City!
The Dihao Bar was the largest in all of Jinling City, thanks to its proprietor being the scion of the Mo family—a dynasty of formidable influence in the city.
Thus, virtually nobody in Jinling City dared to stir trouble within the confines of the Dihao Bar.
Of course, this also owed to the fact that the bar’s bodyguards were all Evolvers.
Only the Mo family possessed the means to employ Evolvers as security personnel.
As it was already late at night, Dihao Bar was bustling with activity. A few bodyguards sat up attentively, diligently safeguarding the entrance.
Suddenly, their attention was drawn to a figure approaching from a short distance. He wore a stern expression and carried a Battle Saber on his back, suggesting he might have arrived with malicious intent.
“Looks like someone fearless of death has come looking for trouble.”
One bodyguard nudged the other and remarked.
“This watch duty is getting monotonous. A little exercise could be fun.”
The bodyguard’s smile took on a sinister edge.
In the meantime, Loong Chen had reached the bar’s entrance.
“Minors are not permitted to enter.”
A bodyguard blocked Loong Chen’s way.
Loong Chen’s face darkened, his voice turning cold.
“Get out.”
