Chapter 576 Challenge Knocked the Door

"OK, tell me about the rest of the story. Why don't you just accept the challenge from that guy?" Maximilian asked casually.

Canaan answered with an embarrassing smile, "I wish I could accept that. But my skill is far from him."

"And who the hell is that challenger? After listening to all your nonsense, I can't even figure out the identity of your opponent." Flora struck in and asked.

Picking up the IPAD on the center console, Canaan pointed at the screen and said to Maximilian, "Take a look at this, master. Here is the guy, Regan. He once attended the official formula Two racing, and is said to be the most promising racer for the formula one racer in the country."

Maximilian showed no interest in the challenger and the IPAD was taken by Flora.

"Wow, his resume is so long. He started to learn driving and car racing since he was a child, and was the champion of the International Go-kart Race and the participant in several road races. Now, he is a formula 2 racer and has won the championships of four tournaments in different divisions." Flora sighed, looking at the IPAD with surprise.

After checking his resume, Flora gave the IPAD back to Canaan and said, "Well, that may explain why Canaan behaves like a coward now. The challenger Regan has absolutely scared him off."

Canaan felt ashamed of himself and would rather hide like an Ostrich.

Canaan, a man who dreamed to be a top car racer, was neither courageous nor capable enough to accept Regan's challenge.

"It is such a shame for him to challenge you, I mean, as a professional racer." said Maximilian, looking sideway at Canaan.

"Well," Canaan sighed, "There is a feud between our families since a long, long time ago. So there is nothing strange or shameful for him to challenge me. He was above doing so because I was not a professional driver by all means. But now, things have changed. I'm planning to build up a racing club and that has touched his interests, as he is trying to do it himself. If I have successfully established the club, he will not just sit right there and do nothing when I attract the attention of his well-off members away from him."

Listening to Canaan's explanation, Maximilian figured out what the real problem was. It was about interests and money.

Flora twitched her nose, rolled her eyes and said to Maximilian, "Maximilian, I think the best way to solve this is that you take the challenge for Canaan. If you choose to ignore it, then the racing club you have invested in will be doomed to fail."

"Yes, Flora is right to the point! Master, I have to admit that this is a great deal worth as much as 3.2 billion dollars, and we have to protect it from our rivals." Canaan said with a bitter voice.

"So, when is the race scheduled?" asked Maximilian.

"12 p.m. tonight, and the site is the mountain road on Wild Goose Valley. By the way, have you ever heard of the mountain road on Wild Goose Valley, master?" Canaan asked.

With a puzzled look on his face, Maximilian responded, "I know nothing about the racing circle, and the answer is clearly no."

Hearing that, Canaan was dumb. “Then how did you get such amazing driving skills? Don't tell me you are a genius.'

In the meantime, Flora seemed greatly interested in the race. She shook Maximilian's arm and asked, "I guess you are going to join the race, aren't you, Maximilian? Please take me with you and I would

like to be your racing girl."

"Well..." After a brief hesitation, Canaan said to Flora, "Usually, racing cars carry no one but the racer in order to reduce weight as much as possible. The situation might be different if it goes to rallying, and a navigator is necessary for such type of race. Otherwise, there will be only the racer in the car normally."

"Excuse me, are you telling me I'm overweight?" Glaring at Canaan, Flora asked.

Canaan shrunk his neck, waved his hand hastily and said, "No! Of course not! You have misunderstood me! I'm trying to tell you that the weight of the car needs to be reduced as much as possible. In other words, the lighter the car is, the faster its speed, got it? That's what I mean. Even the air conditioner needs to be removed for lighter weight of the racing car, regardless of the racer's risk of suffering from sunstroke."

Canaan made great efforts to explain why Flora could not be in the car with Maximilian, from the theory of weight to the relation between weight and speed.

Although Flora understood what Canaan was talking about, she was still pouting and said, "I don't care! You are just trying to fool me, and I just want to be a racing girl, like what happened in the movie!"

"But what is in the movie is not real. Do you really think a car would explode so easily just like that in a movie? Movie is nothing more than movie, you know. And movies are always imaginary and exaggerated." mumbled Canaan.

"Shut up! I don't want to hear anything from you, and you will regret if you say one more word now!" Flora shouted at Canaan, then turned to Maximilian and talked to him with an adorable look and childish tone, "Maximilian, please..."

Hearing that, Maximilian puffed out the drinking water in his mouth. Then he said, "Well, I need you to stop it. Let's just be normal, OK?"

"How dare you say that I'm abnormal? Couldn't you even tell that I'm just being coquettish and cute? I'm done with it and I hate you, Maximilian!" Flora said, her cheeks puffing and her mouth pouting.

Maximilian rubbed his own forehead and turned to Canaan, "Now, tell me more about Wild Goose Valley, Canaan."

"Well," Canaan recovered himself and answered, "Wild Goose Valley is a well-known underground racing track near H city. It was once the artery of the city, but it has been deserted after the completion of the tunnel to the south hill. Nowadays, no driver would go there but those underground racers. In addition, there are many mysterious sayings, you know, the place is dangerous and many racers have lost their lives there."

With a brief pause, Canaan continued, "There are a total of forty-six sharp turns on the mountain road of Wild Goose Valley, which makes it the third most dangerous road in the country. According to statistics, a total of more than 8000 accidents had occurred there, with cars rushing out of the road or falling into the cliff."

Upon hearing it, Flora sighed, "So many sharp turns with so many accidents, wow, what a horrible stretch of road."

"That is right, Flora. Average underground racers dare not to race on this road, and I'm one of them." Canaan said with a sense of embarrassment.

"OK, which car are we gonna use in the race later? This one?" Maximilian asked.

"Well, my sports car, you know, was broken, and there is no way to get any other car at this moment. We have no choice but to use this Benz. I guess Regan would come with his modified supercar later."

Answered with his mood growing lower, Canaan felt there was no hope of winning and asked Maximilian, "How about we just give up the race? Master, it is too dangerous and I don't want to see anything happen to you. Miss Victoria needs you."

"No, I would like to accept the challenge. Since he has come to us and knocked our door, we have to show him something."
