Maximilian would doubt whether he had misheard if Spencer didn’t say it in person because he had a notable family background and social status.

Maximilian became curious and asked, “What’s going on? Are you lying to me? How could such a thing happen to your family?”

“Well, let me be honest. I know it’s hard for you to believe but I have to tell you anyway.” Spencer responded seriously.

Maximilian respected his opinion and nodded, “Just tell me. I will believe you.”

Spencer finally told the truth.

He had a happy family when he was a child. However, when it came to primary school, his parents started fighting, and at the time he was in the middle school, his parents got divorced.

He chose to be with his mother, who was in low salary with no place to live in and no car to drive, which led to their difficult life.

Therefore, Spencer really suffered and Maximilian really felt sorry for him after hearing his story.

Maximilian suddenly found his life was not miserable as he thought in comparison with Spencer.

Maximilian knew Spencer was in hardship and said, “How about going to my home to spend a few days?”

“Really? Thank you so much.” Spencer kept nodding. The truth was that he had made up all these things to win Maximilian’s sympathy.

Afterall, it would be hard for Spencer to meet Maximilian in the future if he didn’t grab this opportunity. Hence, he had to stay beside Maximilian to know where the dragon key was in a short time.

Maximilian didn’t despise of him, instead, he felt sorry for him because he thought they were the same kind with miserable childhood.

When Maximilian got back to the apartment, Victoria glanced at him angrily and asked him with folded arms, “Why are you back so late? Are you going out for fun?”

Maximilian coughed to remind her the guest was here. If Spencer heard what her blame, he would think different of him.

Victoria didn’t grasp his meaning at first, however, when seeing there was a man behind him, she suddenly released and knew he must be her husband’s friend.

“Well, never mind. I have to go to the bedroom.” Victoria waved her hands and left.

Spencer’s eyes lit up when he saw Victoria and recognized her as the top beauty in H City.

He could tell they were couples by judging from their reaction with each other.

He finally knew that his friend was the well-known man who married into the wife’s family.

At first, he thought Maximilian earned the money on his own. However, when finding what the truth was, he suddenly felt despised of his friend.

On the other hand, Maximilian didn’t think too much but helped him to prepare the tea.

Spencer also noticed Flora and Grace, who made his head bloodshot and nose bleeding because of their gorgeous legs.

Three beauties were in Maximilian’s house. It was natural for Spencer to sigh with emotion that how good the life was for Maximilian. He suddenly became jealous of him.

Maximilian found his friend’s ridiculous expression and rolled back his eyes. However, he didn’t pay too much attention considering Spencer was drunk.

“Well, how about sleeping in my house these days?” Maximilian suddenly said.

Spencer immediately began to act and pretended to be moved, saying, “My old friend, you’re so nice to me. Will you drive me out if I stay in your home for a long time?”

Maximilian suddenly remained silence for a while and Spencer could feel his embarrassment.

Maximilian smiled and replied, “Of course.”

Spencer knew he was unwilling to let him stay for a long time. However, he knew his main task was to get the dragon key and didn’t have to think too much.

At this point, Spencer suddenly said, “Never mind. I have to go to sleep.”

Maximilian nodded and didn’t stop him.

When Spencer got back to his room, Flora suddenly said, “I don’t think he’s a good person. You have to take care of this kind of people.”

Maximilian smiled when hearing this because he knew whether he had to be aware or not.

“Don’t worry.” Maximilian smiled.

Grace hurriedly added, “That person keeps staring at me. I can tell he’s a jerk.”

“Well, I will tell him to pay attention next time.” Maximilian smiled awkwardly. Afterall, both Flora and Grace were extraordinary beauties and any ordinary man would be moved. If they weren’t, it would definitely be a weird thing.

However, Maximilian also noticed that there was something wrong with Spencer. He couldn’t tell but he could feel subconsciously that he was looking for something.

He suddenly felt bewildered and called Chief Carr, telling he to investigate Spencer’s family.

Maximilian could feel someone was outside the door in the night.

He climbed out of bed silently in case of waking up Victoria.

It was Spencer who was searching the cupboard with flashlight. Adviser Ashton called him and ordered him to take action tonight. If he hadn’t found anything, they had to change to plan B.

Spencer tested this morning that it was difficult for him to let Maximilian drunk and it would be impossible to get news from him.

Therefore, he decided to change another plan and to search for the dragon key on his own. This was the simplest and easiest way he could figure out.

However, when he was searching around, he didn’t find any sign, as if he was searching for a needle in the sea.

He didn’t take care when he was searching and suddenly knocked on something hard. He thought it was the wall and fell on the floor deeply.

He was so shocked when he looked up and found it was Maximilian.
