Chapter 160 Secrets
Chapter 160 Secrets
?
Ethan had to forget about that since they soon reached the valley again and approached the left flank of another army. The Frontline of that army had been halted by some ice tornadoes, so the area was pretty cold… Still, the hot-blooded human heroes didn't stop because of that. They charged and began to cross the group the way Ethan had initially imagined.
In any case, even though they reached the enemy's flank and the front line was busy, it didn't take long for the enemies to turn around and face everyone. Still, Ethan and Emily stopped those fools with ice spears, and then the first wave of attacks resulted in their side wiping the enemies out.
"I didn't think that you would stay here… I imagined that you would be leading the front like a madman," Emily said, since Ethan was in the middle of the formation and only killing the leftovers.
"Thanks to the mad oxions, the piercing power of our charge is this high. Thanks to that, I don't have to lead the charge," Ethan explained. "Besides, it would be troublesome if you were to fall now. I can see that your head is hurting like controlling the beasts in this situation."
"... While I am thankful for the help, this is somehow a bit unnerving," Emily furrowed her eyebrows.
"It is probably because you aren't used to receiving help," Ethan said. "Anyway, you aren't used to controlling monsters that much, so someone has to cover for you."
Emily couldn't deny that. Using Telepathy and sending images to the heads of the summoned beasts was hard. The reasons were their names and the situation… they are beasts that tend to run wild, and on such a battlefield, they tend to get even more pissed and prone to disobey commands.
When those thirty heroes reached the middle of the second army, Ethan noticed that the area of effect spells began to slow down in the area… people were running out of mana. While they brought their own potions, it will take a while for those to recover all of it… thanks to it, the ghost armors began to get closer to the main group again. The remaining melee warriors assumed their formation to stop their attacks… but they didn't look that impressive since they split into seven groups, and each one of them had ten.
"They won't last for long…" Ethan thought and then held back a sigh.
Ethan had another problem on his hands, and he had to solve it since the people around him, aside from Emily, were too busy with fighting. Emily was too tired and focused on controlling the mad oxions.

Ethan checked his skills for a moment, and then he had an idea that might work… it could be a bit dangerous for his allies and himself, but he decided to test it anyway. Ethan jumped away from his mad oxion and then landed on an area around filled with ghost armor. He made his sword pierce one of the ghost armor after he activated Explosive Impact and Electric Enchantment.
The shockwave created by the attack burned and shocked the enemies within a twenty meters radius. It almost reached the heroes behind Ethan, so they flinched for a moment. Still, soon they charged in that direction and then finished off the ghost armors that survived the attacks. During that time, Ethan jumped backward and then returned to his mad oxion.
Ethan opened his shop for a short while and then bought a long javelin. It cost around ten thousand coins, so that hurt his magic wallet a bit, but at least it had the effects that he wanted.
Throw Javelin (Common) (+0)
Attack: 20 - 30
Durability: 30/30
Effects: Increases the power of throwing skills by fifty percent.
Requirements: 50 STR
Ethan grabbed the weapon and then held it back above his shoulder while he was controlling his stamina. When he felt his arm burning, he used Electric Enchantment and then threw the weapon.
Congratulations! You learned the skill Sonic Throw.
Sonic Throw: at the cost of one hundred points of stamina, you can throw a weapon at the enemy that will cause more damage the longer the weapon has to fly. The distance traveled will be equal to the level of the skill multiplied by ten.
For learning a new skill by yourself, you get one hundred coins.
The attack pierced one of the ghost armors and killed it, but the Electric Enchantment also made it spread sparks of lightning in the area and shocked ten enemies. Other heroes used that chance to finish them off. Thanks to that, those skills leveled up a bit… Before Ethan could buy another spear, he saw Alvin throwing the weapon back at him. It lost ten points in its durability, but that wasn't half bad. He could use it two more times or even use the repair hammer to keep it for longer…
Ethan made his choice and soon repaired the weapon, keeping the hammer with him. At the same, while it took a bit longer, he kept leveling up the skills and offering that kind of support to the others… until the skills reached level fifteen and then used his skill points to make them level up a lot more…
Once he finished his preparations. Ethan bought several of the same javelins and began to throw them around the battlefield. Thanks to the fact that Electric Enchantment reached level fifty-five, each one of his attacks began to paralyze over seventy of the enemies… the heroes around him used those chances as well to completely decimate the second army.
You obtained 500 experience points.
You received 50 coins.
You obtained 500 experience points.
You received 50 coins.
…
Ethan began to recover some coins, but not enough to keep spamming them without caring about his coins… that was a bit worrisome since he also used all of his skill points to change the flow of the battle and save as many lives as possible.
"When did I become so selfless?" Ethan wondered.
Ethan couldn't remember it… still, he couldn't and didn't want to stop since he had to pay the price in order to return home as soon as possible. While he was thinking along those lines, Emily and Alvin looked at Ethan with confused eyes… he didn't show those skills before, and he had to face some challenges before… it was hard to believe, but they assumed that he had just learned those skills and with them, he was changing the flow of the whole battlefield.
Those who were more hot-blooded didn't care about who was using that combination, but soon they started to miss it when they reached the third army, and things got harder again.
"What is wrong?" Ethan asked while he was drinking some potions to recover his mana and stamina. "You have been looking at me for a while."
"Can you blame me? You are always bringing new tricks to the battles in which we participate," Emily said. "Anyway, we don't have time to talk. If you are running low on mana and stamina, you can use my ring, and I have plenty of potions here."
"Nah, I am fine," Ethan shrugged. "Still, you never said why you wanted so many potions… did you predict that this incident would happen?"
"Are you crazy? How could I predict this?" Emily asked while frowning. "Anyway… I just wanted them for my training. My payment is even better since the ring lets me use potions without filling my belly with them."
"What is your goal with your training?" Ethan asked.
"... I would rather not answer. You will probably make fun of me, considering how you usually behave," Emily replied while looking away.
That seemed a weird answer considering how Emily usually acted... still, somethings were better left alone.
