Chapter 174 - 173 - Counterattack(Part 12): Vi
Point-of-View: Gela Sorr
———————————————————————————
"Tch, stop following me, go help someone who actually wants your help!" I snapped, as I evaded the Vampire's claws and flew up, getting a shallow cut on my right leg as I did.
"Don't be stupid, Gela, do you want to die!?" Retorted Vi, kicking a chunk of the floor at the Vampire, who quickly fired a red blast to destroy it.
As soon as she did, Vi leapt forward with immense force, swinging her foot at her head, but before she could connect, the Vampire narrowly evaded it by ducking under it, and as Vi shot past her, she fired a blast at her back, which she was unable to avoid and got sent flying away and crashed onto the wall.
The Vampire, I think her name was Demelza or something, then flew up towards me, when suddenly, a wave of echo-y noise struck her and halted her ascension...Instructor Tabbs, huh...tch, I don't need help from any of you, I just want to enjoy tearing this Vampire apart by myself, damn it!
I swooped down towards her rapidly, evading as she fired Blood Magic blasts up at me, one striking my right shoulder as I descended, causing me to slow down a bit as I hissed in pain. She began to back away as I closed in, before I swung a wind blade at her from my talons, leaving a gash on her chest and causing her to stumble back with a grunt of pain. She swung her claws at me, I blocked her strikes with my metal claws before driving my talons towards her throat, grazing the side of her neck as she tilted her head out of the way.
She then grabbed my left arm before I could get away and swung me over her shoulder, slamming my back onto the ground with a devastating amount of force, I coughed out blood as the resounding impact traveled through my body. She raised her claws to slash down at me, before I gritted my teeth and fired a blast of wind from my mouth, striking her in the left eye and bursting it, eliciting a cry of pain from her as blood ran down from the eye socket, and preventing her from attacking me.
Suddenly, a powerful force struck her back from behind, a cracking sound echoing out and sending her flying away, whizzing past where Azyl and Persia were fighting one of the other Vampires, and crashing onto the wall on the other side of the room, which was about a hundred meters away from my current position. Vi again...grr, stop interfering!
"Hurry up and heal yourself, she's coming," She instructed, positioning herself in front of me protectively while the Vampire shook herself off and was flying towards us with a glare, her injuries healing rapidly.
I grudgingly used my healing spell, as she leapt towards the Vampire with her foot pointing towards her...when suddenly, the Vampire smirked and pointed her palm at Vi in response...and then, Vi got sent flying back at a rapid pace, I quickly flew up, just narrowly avoiding her crashing onto me, as her back slammed onto the ground and she let out a cry of pain...her leg was bent the wrong way, and in spots that shouldn't be bending in the first place.
"Heal yourself and stay out of my way!" I exclaimed at her from above, before turning my attention back to the Vampire.
Was that the power of her Cross? Well, whatever, now I should get to play with her without anyone butting in. I swung a couple of wind blades at her as she closed in, which she evaded by swooping low and then pointing her palm up at me...the next thing I knew, I was shooting back and upwards as a powerful force struck my torso, I let out a cry of pain as my back slammed onto the ceiling painfully, cracks appearing on it behind me.
I bit down on my lower lip to regain my bearings and prevent myself from plummeting down to the ground, and instead swooped down at her with wind extended out from my claws and talons. She didn't move from her current spot, instead pointing her palm at me again, and again sending me flying back, this time crashing onto the wall just above the doorway we came in through...I let out a groan as I fell down onto the ground.
I can't move my arms...both my shoulder blades were broken, just trying to move my arms even a little sent twinges of pain throughout my body, it hurts so much...
"Is that all you are capable of, human?" Inquired the Vampire, walking up to me while evading Instructor Tabbs' attacks with ease.
The instructor was too far for her attacks to be effective, so she swooped down and got closer, but before she could fire another attack, the Vampire swiftly pointed her palm at her and sent her flying back and crashing onto a section of the wall, inadvertently colliding with one of the other Vampires. Her Cross...it must be the ability to send out a pushing force from her palm...
"Damn it-...agh!" I began with a growl, trying to get up, before letting out a gasp of pain as a powerful force struck my stomach, the ground beneath me cracking as it hit me.
"This is the power of my Cross, Repulsion...you are completely powerless in the face of it," She scoffed, before hitting me with a another wave, I coughed out blood as it struck me, my ears ringing and my vision blurring following the impact.
She then kicked the bottom of my jaw, sending me skidding away along the ground and through the doorway, till I crashed onto one of the pillars in the corridor outside the room. She fired another wave, striking my chest and cracking my ribcage, the pillar I was leaning against cracked as well, I was too dazed to even think about dodging. Her palm was still pointed towards me, as she walked towards me...
This is bad...I'll die if she keeps this up...I then noticed Vi springing up behind her, her foot raised high. She began to swing her foot down, but before it could connect, the Vampire swiftly spun around and stepped back, her kick narrowly missing the Vampire's head. No way...how did she know...?
In a swift motion, the Vampire extended her claws out and swung them up, slicing off Vi's arms and eliciting a loud, excruciating scream of pain from her, blood gushing out. Her tail then pierced through the center of Vi's chest, just below her neck, holding her up off the ground.
"That was a close one...if your friend's eyes had not lit up with hope just now, I would not have been alerted to your presence, and I would be in a fair bit of trouble right now."
Hope? No, that can't be...it's my fault that Vi's attack failed?
"You...damned...monster...," Growled Vi, coughing up blood, hatred in her eyes with a pained expression, "All of you Vampires...deserve to...die..."
Come on...I have to move...or...she's going to die...
"A lowly human dares to speak to me in such a way? Your filthy race is the damned one that deserves to die, you humans are such vile creatures, I have witnessed centuries of human behavior to justify that claim. Still, that really was rather close, you likely would have landed your attack if not for this one," Sneered the Vampire, looking down at me with a laugh, before moving her hands so that her palms were pointing in at either side of Vi's head, "Hm, you are perfectly positioned for me to try this...I have always wonder what would happen to a human head if I were to use my Repulsion inwards at one from both directions...I cannot wait to find out!"
I desperately began moving my left arm, doing my best to ignore the pain as I reached for my healing spell in my belt.
Vi let out an tortured and agonizing shriek of pain as blood poured down her nose, eyes and ears, a cracking sound starting to echo out from her. Come on, hurry...yes, I got it-...but right as I touched the healing spell and began to activate it...
"Now you di-!" The Vampire began to declare, when suddenly, her head flew off her shoulders...right as Vi's head got crushed, blood and pieces of her skull and brain bursting out, both of their bodies slumping and collapsing onto the ground.
Right before her head got smashed, she mustered up the strength to swing her foot up as high and fast as she could, kicking and tearing off the Vampire's head just as her own head got crushed inwards by the Vampire's Cross. I stood up shakily as I healed myself and walked over to them...Vi's headless body was slumped in a large puddle of her own blood, while the Vampire's head was already starting to grow back...I fired a wind blade at her neck, cutting off her regeneration, only for it to start again.
No matter what, I won't let her heal. I'll make sure of that. Vi was dead...and it was only because she jumped in to keep me from dying, she should have just waited for a better opening...
I'm not close to any people at all, and most of the time, I'm usually alone...but after that Quest to Goldway, whenever I'd run into her, she always made a point of talking to me...at first, I found it annoying and bothersome, I wasn't interested in having conversations with people, I usually just wanted to fight them...but at some point, I started looking forward to it, and whenever I'd run into her...I felt happy.
I was...really grateful to her for that...she probably didn't consider me as someone close to her, after all, aside from the regular trivial conversations, we didn't really know anything about each other...but, even so...I was grateful. I may love fighting more than anything, but even I get lonely at times...but she helped stave off that loneliness. And now...I'll never be able to thank her for any of that...
I sliced off the Vampire's neck again as it began growing back, before pulling her tail out of Vi's chest and then tearing it off with a spiteful growl. I'll stay right here and make sure she can't heal herself, until Kuro comes to drain her life force.
"I guess you can't hear me since you don't have ears right now...but I'll keep tearing your neck apart faster than you can grow it back, so heal as much as you want, it's futile. You're finished, you fucking Vampire...but before you die, I'll make sure to inflict as much pain onto you as I possibly can..."
