Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 1054

Chapter 1054: Proud Of You

The sentinel kicked his companion who was sleeping beside him. The man on the ground immediately jumped up and sat up. His hand was already on the handle of the saber. "Damn it," he complained when he saw that it was his robe, "I can't let anyone sleep anymore."

"There's a situation in the cave." The sentinel raised a torch into the depths of the cave.

The man flipped over and held his saber and said, "What's the matter? Don't be so nervous when the wind blows, brother."

"There's wind!" The sentinel kicked him in the butt again, "Come with me."

"Damn it" The man cursed, "Isn't it normal for there to be wind? It's so snowy outside. Alright, I have to go to bed. I have to go tomorrow. This damn place."

Seeing that he had fallen asleep again, the sentinel spat. He pulled out his long saber and carried the torch deeper into the cave. The further they went, the narrower the space became. It was as if they were walking into the mouth of a giant beast. Those vertical stalagmites were the fangs of a giant beast. Sentinel Fang passed through the two stalagmites and found that he could no longer walk forward. The space in front of him could only squat down and climb. He inserted the torch at the intersection of the stalagmites and squatted down to look into the depths of the cave. Unfortunately, the fire did not shine far, and there was nothing but darkness.

He looked at it for a moment and saw that there was no movement. The sentinel cursed as he wanted to go back. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew from the cave, causing the torches to dance wildly. This gust of cold wind even brought out a few pieces of ice. The sentinel touched his body and some rough ice shattered between his palms. They quickly melted, but the chill seeped into their hearts. The sentinel trembled coldly, and the sound of claws scratching the stone sounded again from the cave. The sentinel felt nervous for no reason, as if something was approaching from the depths of the darkness.

The flames on the torch dimmed and eventually extinguished, causing the surrounding space to sink into darkness. The sentinel gasped for breath and suddenly realized that he was exhaling a grey-white breath of cold air. Then, in the depths of the cave, something lit up. It was golden. Amidst the golden light, a brown vertical eye suddenly appeared. His pupils turned and his gaze landed on the sentinel.

The sentinel opened his mouth wide. That eyeball was the size of a drum, so how big was the thing on the other side of the cave? Before he could think about it, the eyeball suddenly disappeared. Then, a frost wind that caused one's soul to freeze came from the side of the cave. The frost wind carried countless azure ice flowers. They collided and combined in the air, wrapping up everything that passed through the cave.

"Hurry up" The sentinel could only turn around and shout, his feet quickly freezing. The speed of the frost cover was exceptionally fast. They went up against the current and instantly froze the sentinel into an ice sculpture. The surface was covered with many irregular ice spikes.

The soldiers on the other side of the cave finally realized that something was amiss when they vaguely heard the sentinel's cry. The temperature in the cave was strangely low, and the bonfire was already extremely dim. When it was extinguished, a warrior suddenly cried out. It turned out that the ground was already covered with a layer of ice. He wanted to stand up, but he found that his legs were not obedient. When he looked up, he saw a large amount of frost spreading out from his legs.

This was the last scene he saw.

On a blizzard night, the entrance of a cave suddenly spat out large pieces of ice. The entrance of the cave instantly froze, forming a large cluster of ice ribs that completely sealed the entrance. No one knew that in that cave, there were seven or eight men who could never walk out. They became specimens in the ice and their expressions were frozen at the moment of death.

When Alan woke up, the snow had stopped. After the blizzard yesterday, the sky was clouded over with sadness. However, the grey clouds in the northern sky began to dissipate. A few faint pillars of light broke through the clouds and descended. Even if he wasn't familiar with the climate of the Northern Lands, Alan knew that the weather would be good in the next few days. The camp had been moved from the cave to a more spacious place outside. Alan walked to the camp and the soldiers were making a fire to make food. Edward ordered the soldiers at the other end of the camp. When he saw Alan, he walked over and asked, "How do you feel?"

"Not bad." Alan nodded and asked, "What's the situation now?"

"Yesterday's landslide seems to be quite large. Regis brought some soldiers to accompany Ian to explore the road. He won't be able to return until around noon."

"Have you sent someone to investigate?"

Edward knew that he was referring to yesterday's explosion and nodded. "I've got a bronze blade checking, but I don't think I can find any clues," he said.

This was not surprising. Yesterday's snowstorm was so heavy that any clues had long been concealed by the snowstorm. Alan patted Edward on the shoulder and patrolled the camp without saying anything. After greeting several merchants from Shawn, he glanced at the caravan's goods and finally saw what Father Miro was doing on a large rock. He walked over and saw that the priest was cutting wood. It could be seen that it was roughly a person.

"What is this doing?" Alan crouched down beside him and asked.

Father Miro shook the semi-finished product in his hand. "It's you, Young Master Alan."

"Me?"

The priest nodded and said, "I'll record all the things you've done along the way in wooden sculptures. These things will be placed in the Great Sacred Hall in the future to tell others how you walked all the way. I think it might become a valuable antique in a few hundred years."

Miro's eyes lit up as he chuckled. "Even if it's worth money, you can't see it anymore," said Alan unhappily.

Unless he could break through the level 30 barrier and become a ruler, he would be able to prolong his life by a large margin. Otherwise, the average person's life span would only be tens of years, and Miro was just an ordinary person. The priest grinned and said, "It doesn't matter. It's good to keep it for my children and grandchildren."

Alan was no longer surprised by the priest's fanaticism. Seeing the priest's saber strike, the wooden sculpture had some details. From the looks of it, the priest's sculpture skills were pretty good. Alan asked casually, "Have you ever made a statue of him?"

"Who?"

"Archimedes."

The knife in the priest's hand stopped and he looked at Alan with a smile. "You want to see him?"

"I..." Alan realized that he had unknowingly leaked his thoughts.

Miro continued to carve wood: "Archimedes that bastard also looks like that, he is not as handsome as you, Young Master Alan. He was like the big drunkards in the tavern, always with messy hair, a beard with beads of wine, and two big, fluffy arms. I am very familiar with his appearance, but if you want me to completely carve out his appearance, forgive me for not being able to do so. Right now, there is only one general image of him in my impression. I can't remember his exact appearance. After all, it's been many years since I've seen him. "

"Is that so? It doesn't matter. I'll just casually ask."

"However." Miro looked at the sky to the north. The pillars of light were reflected in his eyes, "I think Young Master will meet that fellow in the future."

"Are you so sure?"

"Well, that rash bastard might show up in front of you one morning and say to you, Hi, son, you've grown up." Miro laughed as he spoke, but he found that Alan did not smile at all. '"Young Master Alan. If, I mean if. If Archimedes were standing in front of you, would you stab him?" He asked quietly after a dry cough. josei

Ellen was stunned by his question.

Lanny did say that she would kill Archimedes when she saw him when she had a fight with her mother, and he did agree. However, after so many years, he realized that his hatred towards that man was no longer as strong as before, but it was far from forgiveness. So he thought for a moment and said, "Maybe not, but I'll ask him why he left me and my mother."

"I'm not excusing that bastard" Father Miro landed his knife on the wooden sculpture and said, "But I think he has a reason. That bastard is indeed a complete bastard. He still owes me a lot of money. However, when he told me about your mother, there was a light in his eyes."

'"That should be called gentleness. Although every time I see it, I get goosebumps. After all, a bastard doesn't seem to have anything to do with gentleness. But I can't be wrong, Archimedes. He really loves your mother. If you two meet, I think he'll give you a satisfactory answer."

"Hopefully."

The heads of the people at the camp surged. Alan saw Regis and they found their way back. Alan patted Miro's shoulder and jumped off the stone. He walked in the direction of Regis and asked loudly, "How's it going?"

Milo looked at Alan's back and muttered, "That bastard should be proud of you."

Of course, Ellen could not hear this. He walked over to Regis and the others. Ian's father was smoking a cigarette. He looked at Ellen and smiled bitterly. "Very troublesome, my lord."

"The mountain road is completely blocked, not only so, the other several roads can not go. The rocks blocked the way and we couldn't go to the spiraling stairs. In this situation, one could only leave through the Shadow Land and then through the Abika Corridor. But my lord, this route is the last I want to take. It's very dangerous. The sun in the Land of Shadows was hard to shine on for many years, and it was eerie and horrifying, with ghosts and shadows everywhere. The Abika Corridor is too close to the underground tunnel, although I haven't seen it for so many years. However, our ancestors once said that there are unknown and terrifying cave creatures living in the big tunnel. They sometimes appear in the Abika Corridor. No caravans are willing to go there. Only madmen and adventurers will go there. "

"But we don't have any other choice right now, do we?" Alan smiled and said, "Don't worry, Father Ian. My saber will protect you, and my warrior will be your strongest shield. You will come out of the corridor, I promise you."

Ian's father looked at him and nodded after a while. "Alright, let's go to the Shadow Land in the afternoon. You need to pad the horse up. When we pass by there, we'd better not make too much noise."

Alan nodded and called for Fares to prepare according to Ian's request.

In the afternoon, the sun began to shine in the sky, and the caravan left the camp. Ian rode a skinny horse in front and led the group towards the northeast.
