Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 363

Chapter 363: Pack Of Wolves

After learning a lesson from the past, in order to prevent Allen from ambushing him, Legg listed the Rage Thunder Knight as his target of protection. Whether it was resting or marching, the Raging Thunder Knight's surroundings were bound to be heavily guarded by gale infantry. Originally, the Raging Thunder Knight was a highly mobile soldier, but such an arrangement made the commander even more foolish and ridiculous.

However, nearly half of the Raging Thunder Knights had been damaged, and five elites of the standard level had died in battle. Everyone was a precious asset to Storm City. Against Alan's team that was far above average, Legg had no choice but to do so in order to prevent the Raging Thunder Knights from losing more staff. He knew that it would look stupid, but he had no choice but to do so.

After setting up the army like an iron turtle, Legg still locked onto Allen's group. He knew that his side had suffered losses, and that the bandits who attacked him would not be so easy. After all, they would face an army that was several times larger than their own every time they attacked. Even if there weren't any reductions, they would start to get tired and their combat strength would drop.

Legg dispatched gale infantry to search where the bandits were likely to appear. Once a target was discovered, they would signal the nearby teams. The search team would form a trap to drag the opponent's footsteps, while Legg would lead the main force to carry out a devastating attack.

This arrangement was immediately effective.

Very quickly, the search team found traces of the bandits that afternoon. However, the other party seemed to have sensed the danger ahead of time, and before the search team could form a encirclement, they left, causing Legg to stomp his feet in anger.

In the evening, while the army was cooking and resting, the bandits suddenly appeared and viciously attacked the barracks. They quickly left without waiting for any damage.

In these three days, Legg led the army around with Alan. Within three days, the two sides had attacked and defended each other. Storm City's army was like a lion, while Allen's team was like a pack of wolves. The pack of wolves came and went like the wind. Every time they attacked, they would tear off a piece of flesh and blood from the lion. Without waiting for the lion to retaliate, the pack of wolves fled far away, giving the lion a body full of strength but no place to use it.

In this entanglement, Allen's side also suffered a loss. Four Mountain King warriors and one Dark Blade died in succession. Even the corpses were not retrieved in time, and the team had to leave. This showed how short and intense each battle was.

On the fourth day, Legg's eyes were red. These past few nights, he had no chance to fall asleep at all. Every night, he slept with his clothes and stood up as soon as the wind blew. However, this persistence was not without rewards. The information sent back by the search teams showed that not only had the wolves lost their numbers, but the other side's soldiers had also been injured.

At noon on that day, Legg received the latest information. The pack of wolves had already begun to move. They no longer lingered nearby, but directly left in the direction of the Blood Rock Wilderness. Legg sneered, knowing that the time had come to counterattack with all his might.

Very quickly, the army began to move out. This time, the cavalry were no longer under heavy protection, and Legg led them straight towards the pack of wolves. The gale infantry advanced at full speed, following behind the cavalry in a rapid march. As a result, the team naturally lengthened, and there were even people falling behind. However, Legg guaranteed that he would be able to catch up with the wolves and start the final battle.

Perhaps the gods hadn't abandoned him yet, and in the evening, the setting sun was as red as blood in the wilderness. Legg could see the pack of wolves in front of him from afar. They seemed to be exhausted and were resting on some low hills. Legg didn't conceal it. In any case, they couldn't run away from the cavalry in this flat environment, so they simply rode their horses and galloped wildly. Dozens of cavalry stepped on the deafening sound of hooves. Two hundred infantry followed closely behind, raising sand and dust like flags.

"They're here." Cried Regis, standing on the hill.

Alan nodded and said to Belmond, "Put on the signal."

Legg, who was already beginning to feel his blood boil, suddenly saw a flame from the pack of wolves soaring into the sky, flickering in midair, not extinguishing for a long time. It was clear that the other party had sent out some sort of signal. Legg's heart sank because he couldn't think of any tricks the wolves could play at this time. He simply ignored it and pulled out his sword, shouting, "Charge!"

However, at this moment, a murderous voice came from behind him. Legg turned around and almost fainted.

Behind their group, a group of people suddenly appeared from both sides. Among the two groups of ambushes, the knights at the front raised their guns and aimed at the Gale Infantry. Although the firepower of the guns was limited and the line of sight was not high, many infantry soldiers were hit in the thigh and turned around one after another. Legg was about to spit out fire when he saw the ambush.

The ambush gathered in the middle, biting Legg and the others' tails like a dragon, slowly devouring the Gale infantry behind them. If this continued, as long as the pack of wolves in front of them arrived, Legg and the others would definitely be enemies on both sides. Legg immediately gestured for the cavalry to disperse. He turned around and rushed towards the ambush, using his speed to get ahead of the pack of wolves. Legg wanted to deal with the ambush first.

However, he had never expected that Allen would not even think of killing him. Even if there was an ambush by the Rangers behind them, Storm City's army still had the advantage of numbers. Once the troops from behind rushed over, they would only be able to flee. In Allen's plan, he had never thought that he would be able to eat Storm City's army here. josei

He gestured to Regis on the hill and said, "Leave this to Hansen and the others. We'll meet Roy and the others at the appointed place. It's time to get down to business."

Thus, the wolves quietly left the arena.

Legg rushed to the front, pointing his sword at the rear of the ambush. Hansen's left axe and right spear on the wild lizard killed several infantry in a row. Seeing Legg's knights rushing over, he shouted, "Shield soldiers, dragon spears, hurry up, boys!"

They arrived last night, according to Alan's plan. After drawing out Storm City's army under the guise of Dick, they were handed over to the Rangers to take over and be responsible for entangling Storm City's army here. Now that Alan had left, it was time for the Rangers to perform.

The ten strong shield soldiers fought forward and the tower shields plunged heavily into the ground. The shield soldier was almost leaning against the shield, using it as a fulcrum to resist the impact. Dragon spears three meters long pierced through the gaps in the shield array, one end pierced into the ground, and the tip of the spear aimed at the charging cavalry. Everyone held their breaths and waited. In the next moment, the two sides collided fiercely.

This was a collision of steel. The cavalry charging at the front were either thrown upside down, or their horses or bodies were pierced through by the dragon spear.

Four or five of the Rangers' shield soldiers were also knocked to the ground, their shields caved in, and even a few of their dragon spears were broken. After this wave of attacks, the cavalry rushed into the gap, but they were greeted by the Rangers' fire/spear formation. Nearly twenty gunmen concentrated their fire at close range. Even though the projectiles weren't powerful enough to pierce through armor, they still caused the cavalry to blossom with blood when they hit their unprotected thighs or hands. More firepower landed on the warhorses. Blood splattered everywhere. Wailing sounds echoed everywhere. The horses fell to the ground and threw down the knights. Dust and smoke filled the entire arena.

After the Furious Thunder Knight dismounted from his horse, he was also well-trained to bounce back. Then, he used his hand shield to protect his face and chest, and rushed out of the smoke screen with his steel sword in hand, charging towards the fire/spear squad. Seeing this, Hansen immediately jumped down from the Berserk Lizard and charged forward with his saber and axe and his elite warriors, forming a steel defensive line.

After half an hour of tangling with Legg's army, Storm City's follow-on army finally arrived. Hansen saw that nothing could be done, so he pushed Legg away and shouted, "Boys, retreat!"

The Fire/Lance Squad immediately provided firepower cover. Although the Rangers did not retreat in chaos, they retreated in an orderly manner to prevent Storm City's troops from falling into a bitter battle after converging. Legg spat out a mouthful of saliva as he watched the mercenary group leave. He wanted to chase after them, but after looking at the exhausted warriors behind him, he could only give up.

In the next two days, Legg's army had a few clashes with the Rangers. However, these battles were intense and short. Often, before Legg could warm up, the Rangers had already retreated and left the arena. They're like annoying mosquitoes, taking a bite when you're not ready. You can't die, but your whole body itches.

Legg was like this now. He wished he could find the Rangers and kill them all. However, this group of people had plenty of combat experience and didn't even give Legg the chance to trap them. Legg could only helplessly entangle himself with them.

Just as Legg and the Rangers were battling, an army quietly entered Storm City's territory and passed through the small towns that Allen had attacked. Because these towns were empty and the army and bandits were fighting nearby, there were few people in this area. As a result, Mo De didn't even know that there was an army in his territory.

In the end, the army met up with Alan in the forest near Storm City. The army consisted of Sur City's city guards and new recruits, totalling about two hundred men. With the addition of the two special squads, Mountain King and Dark Blade, their numbers were on par with the new recruits who were responsible for guarding Storm City. However, with such a large number of people attacking Storm City head-on, there was still no chance of winning, and they might even lose miserably. The two cannons on the high wall were not decorative. Even if the defenders were inexperienced recruits, they could easily operate them to deal a large amount of damage.

Hence, after Roy handed over the command to Alan, the army did not act recklessly. They stayed in the forest until late at night. It was about four o'clock in the morning, the darkest hour of the day. There were torches burning on the high walls of Storm City, but the light of the torches was so dim in the dark. The two soldiers who were on duty on the guard wall yawned repeatedly. Their sleepiness made them fall asleep after thinking about it.

The tired soldier did not notice that something was quietly added from the corner of the wall and the shadows of the sentry tower.

Snake!
