Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 413

Chapter 413: An Old Friend

"Stop running."

A powerful voice rang out in the wilderness. Anna, who was running, sighed in her heart when she heard this voice. Then, he slowly turned around. Behind him, a tall man stood with his hands behind his back. This person was the man who had informed Maine to leave.

"Hello, Jet. How long has it been since we last met?" Anna took off her camouflaged goggles and said.

The man looked at her and his gaze softened. "We haven't seen each other since you married that country bumpkin. Until recently, you shot Mr. Main. Although you only saw one profile, I know it was you."

"So you already discovered it." Anna shook her head. "Then why didn't you stop me? Is Main your boss?"

"That's right. I'm happy that that happened because he's my boss, not my master. You shot at the dissociate, right? Mr. Horn is a respectable man. I don't agree with some of Mr. Main's methods, such as handing the dissociate over to Baker." Jeter added, "Let's not talk about this anymore. How have you been these past few years?"

"Let's just do this. I take care of two children by myself and go out on missions occasionally. Most of the time, I'm learning how to be a good mother."

"What about that man?" Jeter narrowed his eyes.

After a moment of silence, Anna spread out her hands and said, "A few years ago, he went to work on the surface. Coincidentally, the factory was attacked by armed thugs. Unfortunately, he was unable to return."

"I'm sorry, really. But you should have known that in this era, you should have chosen a strong man instead of an electronics engineer."

"For example, you?" Anna looked at him.

Jeter nodded solemnly, "For example, me."

"But you know, I love him." Anna smiled.

"I know, so I chose to leave instead of killing him."

"Alright, Jeter, you're not here to catch up with me, are you?"

Jeter looked back and could see the flames of the factory explosion illuminating the night, even from afar. "Indeed, after what you've done, Mr. Main would prefer to see your corpse. Anna, is this Mr. Horn's order?"

"Even without Master's orders, a factory like this would be destroyed if I knew about it."

Jeter shook his head and laughed, "I thought people like you and me were too old to think that there was only good and evil in the world."

"Indeed. However, there are some principles and bottom lines that should be adhered to."

Anna's ears twitched when the wind blew in, "It seems that the chat time is over."

"Indeed." Jeter raised his right hand and the Origin Energy floated, turning into flames that gathered in front of him, forming a blazing fireball. As the surrounding space surged with heat, the surrounding weeds even started to spontaneously ignite without fire. It formed a ring of fire that surrounded both Jeter and Anna.

Behind Jeter, there was a sound of footsteps. He whispered, "Let's go, Anna."

Anna looked at him in surprise. "This is not like you."

"I just don't want my subordinates to make meaningless sacrifices. Goodbye, friend" Jeter clenched his fists and clenched his thumb with his index finger. Then, his index finger flicked at high speed. Every time it was ejected, a blazing fireball shot out from before him, causing an explosion beneath Anna's feet. The line of fire shot towards Anna one after another, shooting at the same frequency as a machine gun, instantly creating a continuous wave of explosions.

As the fireball's Origin Energy continued to be sucked out to form an attack, when the other guards arrived, a sea of fire blocked their line of sight.

"Where's Mr. Main?" Jeter put down his hand and asked.

A guard stepped forward and said, "Mr. Main has left."

"Very good, I just injured that intruder. You guys can chase after him."

The guards nodded and circled around the sea of flames, continuing to enter the wilderness. However, Jeter knew that they couldn't catch up. With Anna's feet, the obstacle just now was enough for her to open a safe distance. Even if the guards caught up, they would only be courting death. Jeter looked in the direction where Anna had left with a complicated gaze. He sighed and planned to return to the factory.

Suddenly, he froze and looked in another direction. Jeter had a strange expression and muttered to himself, "Ravis? Why is this guy desperate?"

Ravis was a deputy commander of the Alexandrian family. He was very young, but he was already a Level 20 Awakened. He had good attainments in the Dao of the Saber, and Jeter was optimistic about him. Jeter remembered that Ravis was in charge of chasing the intruder who released the "raw materials". Tonight, Beth Cod's actions were indeed beyond his expectations, but Jeter did not think Horn would send two secret weapons to carry out this mission.

An Anna was already competent enough. Even if Jeter attacked with all his might, Jeter might not be able to stop Anna if she was bent on escaping. Anna wasn't very strong among the secret warriors, but she was very powerful in other areas, such as tracking and counter-tracking.

Therefore, Anna would be the leader of tonight's mission, and the others would be responsible for assisting. But now, Ravis needed to use all of his strength to show that the other party was at least at the Awakened realm.

However, Jeter didn't know that Ravis wasn't facing any Awakened ones at all, but Alan, who was only at level 17.

As his waterfowl projection passed halfway through the distance, the Origin Energy on Alan's body continuously poured into the heavy blade Qianjun above his head. When the blade of the heavy saber turned into a wisp of profound yellow light, Ravis was shocked. Without any hesitation, he threw himself at the front finger of the saber behind the projection of the waterbird and activated the powerful saber qi to attack with all his might!

It was purely instinctive.

Ravis didn't know why he felt extremely dangerous towards a youth who wasn't even an Awakened One.

Alan simply ignored his opponent's thoughts. He only focused on circulating Origin Energy, sealing the heat from the third Flame Breath Flash into Qianjun. After endless tempering, he had successfully increased the control accuracy, increasing the heat energy of the Flame Breath Flash from two portions to three portions. Every additional portion of thermal flame power brought about a qualitative change in safety.

Even though three portions of the flaming heat wasn't enough to completely restrain the sharpness and kill the Empress's stunning attack. However, it was enough to stimulate Ravis and make him go all out.

Seeing that the other party's waterbird projection had arrived, it brought about an astonishing chill. Qianjun slowly tilted down like a mountain and slashed down with an irresistible posture! When an invisible saber force surged out, the waterbird projection first distorted, then expanded and exploded. A circle of frost energy blew out, and the surrounding vegetation instantly froze. On the ground, a wisp of smoke pointed straight at Lavis. Ravis shouted loudly, and his saber lit up with a dazzling Origin Energy radiance as he slashed towards the void in front of him.

Instantly, the flames in front of the saber lit up. It was as if it was about to split the world. The bright line of fire flicked open the saber and in the blink of an eye, it pierced through Ravis's body at high speed. Then, it continued forward and finally fell into a dwarf hill a hundred meters behind. Immediately after, a violent explosion occurred, and the lines of fire shot out in all directions. Stones, turf, and tree roots splashed everywhere. The entire dwarf hill was immediately razed, and smoke rose everywhere within a radius of a hundred meters.

Ravis stood there with his knife in his hand, not daring to make any movements. He was already very good. Not only did he detect the origin of Inch Fire's invisible saber power, he also forced the invisible flame power out of the shape of the fire line. From this, it could be seen that this commander's strength was indeed not bad. However, he had underestimated Allen's saber strike, so that the flames pierced through his body, and the flame power had already entered his body, corroding his organs.

Right now, Ravis's body was like a ball of fire. His entire body was drenched in sweat, and even his skin was unnaturally flushed red. Alan ignored him and ran away with his saber. After running for nearly a kilometer, he suddenly stopped. Then, he leaned on the ground with his saber and spat out a mouthful of blood. The blood actually carried sparks of ice. This mouthful of blood sprayed onto the ground, and the weeds on the ground immediately froze.

Alan smiled bitterly. He knew that he was still due to the difference in rank. Even though he had slashed open Ravis's projection of his ancestor, he was still being invaded by the shocking frost energy. However, this was not the place to heal his injuries. He could only lift his heavy saber and continue running.

Not long after Alan left, Jeter found Ravis. Seeing the wound on Ravis's chest and back caused by the line of fire, Jeter knew that it wasn't good. He hurriedly rushed forward to support this colleague. When Ravis saw that it was Jeter, he felt as if he had lost all his strength and allowed himself to fall. He looked weakly at Jeter and said, "How embarrassing. I lost to a little fellow who wasn't even an Awakened."

Then, he opened his mouth and spat out a flame instead of coughing out blood. Ravis widened his eyes and died. Jeter put down the shockingly hot corpse and shook his head. A fellow who hadn't yet reached the Awakened Realm would be able to kill Ravis. If it weren't for the lucky ones with Origin Tools in their hands, they would be true geniuses that couldn't be measured by rank.

Hearing Ravis's words, that person clearly belonged to the latter. Jeter frowned, wondering who Beth Cordery was qualified to do so. Suddenly, a name jumped out, and Jeter couldn't help but smile bitterly, "Looks like the boss has made an incredible enemy for himself." josei

He was naturally thinking of Alan, who had been ambushed by Main but had not died.

At dawn, Allen returned to his secret stronghold at the market. As soon as he entered the basement, he could no longer hold Qianjun. Silver and Anna, who had long since returned, supported him at the same time and were alarmed by Alan's hypothermia. Anna had Alan carried into a room and pulled the table over to be used as a bed. After putting Alan on it, she brought a bottle of medicine. He unscrewed the cork of the bottle, then pried open Allen's numb teeth and poured all the medicine into it.

After drinking this bottle of potion, the Origin Energy in Allen's body gradually became active. An engraving appeared on his forehead. A wave of warmth flowed through his limbs and bones, making him feel as if he was immersed in a hot spring. He couldn't help but groan comfortably. Anna checked his body temperature again, and it was obvious that it had begun to rise again. She patted his cheek and said, "Sleep well, my young master. Nothing will happen when you wake up."

Alan nodded and fell asleep.
