Chapter 227 A Good Show

At Allegra Villa, Jack kept his word and handed Crispin directly to Elias for disposal.

On the other hand, Elias brought Crispin to the Allegra Villa, wanting to silence Stephanie quickly. Now, he felt beyond troubled upon receiving the young woman’s calls.

As the car came to a gradual stop outside the villa, Yacob opened the car door, and Elias stepped out of it.

Another car slowly pulled up, and the car door opened. Crispin emerged from inside and immediately charged toward Elias, berating angrily, “You! Who are you to lock me up?! Go back and tell Mr. Allegra I will find a way to escape even if he locks me up. I must be with Steph!”

“That’s not my problem,” said Elias as he took a disdainful gander at the young man. “This is Allegra Villa. Go in and tell him yourself.”

What? Is this Steph’s home?” Crispin was stumped. He turned around and gazed at the villa before him…

He was flabbergasted. Is this really Stephanie’s house? It’s massive, just like those rich estates portrayed on TV

Elias took the lead and walked ahead. When the Allegras’ bodyguards saw him, they politely nodded and said, “Mr. Winters.”

Crispin was rendered baffled. Didn’t Steph say this guy is her family’s bodyguard? Why are they addressing him as “Mr. Winters with such high regard?

“Get a move on. Yacob shoved him rudely from behind. “What are you waiting for? Don’t you want to see Jack Allegra?”

“F*ck, I’m moving! Why push me?” At that, Crispin couldn’t help asking, “Why do the Allegras’ people call him Mr. Winters? Isn’t he the family’s bodyguard? How does a bodyguard receive such high treatment?”

Yacob nearly rolled his eyes upon hearing Crispin’s words and retorted, “Who told you he’s a bodyguard? What are you, blind? What bodyguard has Mr. Winters temperament?”

Elias’ demeanor was a far cry from a bodyguard’s. If anything, he exuded an air of a business elite. Mr. Winters will probably flip out if he knows he has been mistaken as a bodyguard.

“Steph told me, of course!” Crispin argued bewilderedly. “She said that he’s her family’s bodyguard. Is he

not?”

Unbelievable! Yacob grumbled inwardly. So be it that we waste so much time helping her find her lover; how dare she say Mr. Winters is a bodyguard?! Stephane Allegra, that wretched woman!

Not bothered to entertain the young man further, he urged, “Go and ask Stephanie yourself. Now, go inside. I’ve wasted an entire afternoon looking for you. I could’ve done so many things within that time!”

Moreover, Elias didn’t like Stephanie at all, so Yacob thought his afternoon was wasted even more so.

After arriving in the living room, Elias went to the couch and waited for Stephanie to come down.

Yacob and Crispin followed from behind. As Crispin entered the villa, he looked around like a country bumpkin entering the great city, marveling at everything as if he had never seen the world before.

Then again, he had only ever seen such luxurious homes on TV; he had never visited one in real life.

After entering the living room, Crispin noticed Elias sitting leisurely on the couch like he owned the house. As such, he couldn’t help wondering just who in the world Elias was, for he certainly wasn’t as simple as a bodyguard.

Just then, hurried footsteps came from upstairs, and Crispin looked up to find Stephanie descending the

stairs.

“Crisp! Are you okay? Did my dad do anything to you?” Stephanie ran down the stairs and rushed straight into Crispin’s arms.

Yacob and Elias looked on without any reaction, completely unmoved.

“Stephanie Allegra, have you no sense of decorum?! How dare you embrace another man in front of your fiancé?! A young lady should have some sense of propriety!” Jack’s voice came suddenly from behind.

Stephanie and Crispin immediately separated, but Stephanie opened her arms and shielded him, saying, “Dad, it was my insistence to be with him. If you want to punish someone, punish me. Don’t hurt him. He’s innocent.”

Crispin, on the other hand, was filled with shock upon hearing the word ‘fiancé.’

“Fiancé? Whom are you getting engaged to?!”

“Crisp. I.. I don’t want to either. My dad forced me into the engagement. I…”

It finally dawned on Crispin that the man referred to as Mr. Winters earlier was Elias sitting on the couch. He pointed at him angrily and said, “It’s him, isn’t it? Steph, are you going to marry him? Your household staff greeted him with high regard. He’s not just a bodyguard like you said he is, is he?”

After all, the man’s appearance and demeanor were nothing like a bodyguard’s but more like that of a wealthy heir.

“A bodyguard?” Elias furrowed his brows, repeating those words with a tone of disgust.

Huh, this Stephanie is really something. She lied to her lover and told him I was just a bodyguard.

Stephanie was rendered speechless. No explanation could rectify her lie, for the facts would speak for themselves.

Likewise, Jack frowned in displeasure. “You’ve gone too far, Steph. How dare you say Elias is a bodyguard?”

“Mr. Allegra, I know you don’t like me, but love is a matter of mutual affection. How can you force your daughter to marry someone she doesn’t love? Do you think Steph will be happy this way?” Crispin gathered his courage and questioned Jack.

As much as he wanted to make a good impression in front of his future father-in-law, at this moment, keeping Stephanie’s heart was more important than anything else. He couldn’t worry about anything else

anymore.

Stephanie, seeing Crispin’s bravery, felt even more touched and became determined to be with him.

Meanwhile, Elias sat on the couch and sipped his tea with amusement, eagerly anticipating the unfolding of this good show.

Jack looked at Elias, unsure of what the young man was pulling.

He had handed Crispin directly to Elias, thinking that he would send Crispin to a place where he would. never return. However, who’d have thought he would bring the young man directly to Stephanie?!

What kind of game is this kid playing?

Then, Jack turned his gaze to Crispin, who looked blatantly cunning yet pretended to be a hopeless.

romantic.

“Drop the romantic act, kid. I’ve been where you are, and I know exactly what you’re thinking. Don’t go around thinking you can live your life worry-free just because you married my daughter. I will never let her marry you. Stop dreaming. Steph will be engaged at the end of the month. From then on, she will be someone else’s fiancée. You’re not allowed to bother her anymore.”

Jack spoke frankly. He truly disliked Crispin, for the young man’s insincere nature was almost transparent. yet his foolish daughter couldn’t see it.

“Dad! Please don’t be like this! Don’t hurt his self-esteem!” Stephanie intervened, trying to prevent her father from saying anything further to avoid hurting Crispin’s self-esteem.

“Does he have self-esteem?” Elias, who was watching the show, commented. “If he really has self- esteem, he shouldn’t be overreaching.”

“Shut up, Elias Winters! Stop adding fuel to the fire!” Stephanie roared angrily.
