Chapter 352 Lie Detector

Jack and Edith exchanged a glance and nodded in agreement.

“Amanda’s right. We can’t sweep this issue under the carpet and leave it at that. I will find that scoundrel. I can’t have my two girls suffer a grievance,” Jack growled angrily.

Edith echoed as well. “We have time. I believe Elias will soon uncover the truth.”

Immediately, Crispin felt uneasy. The whole family was united in their desire to discover the truth, but if they did find it, he’d be the one in hot water. Meanwhile, from Stephanie’s perspective, her parents were purely biased toward Amanda.

They don’t care about my feelings at all! With a loud slap, Stephanie angrily slammed her palm on the table, startling everyone present.

She sprang up and exclaimed, “Mom, Dad, don’t you think you’re being too biased?! Why won’t any of you believe that I’m telling the truth?! Won’t let your two girls suffer a grievance? Huh, more like not letting Amanda suffer any grievances! All you guys care about is whether she’s upset. You don’t care about how I feel at all!”

“What nonsense are you talking about?! How am I being biased now?! Have we not spoiled you growing up? Your sister has only returned to us in about a month! Besides, this whole thing is not adding up. Should we not investigate it thoroughly? How are we supposed to believe who’s right or wrong when Elias won’t admit to his actions and you can’t provide any substantial evidence?!” Jack was furious at this point, thinking his younger daughter was becoming increasingly unreasonable, still behaving willfully when she had caused massive trouble.

“Stephanie, we’re doing this for your own good. Don’t you want to know who that beast was that night? Your father is also looking into the matter. If it really was Elias, your father won’t show him mercy..

However, before Edith could finish her words, tears streamed down Stephanie’s face like a never- ending waterfall as she sobbed, “Why are you guys like this?! It was obviously Elias, but why won’t any of you believe it?! Your daughter has been defiled, yet you choose to believe in Elias rather than me?! Why would you think he would admit to a shameless act he has committed?!”

Stephanie’s cries now echoed throughout the silent dining room, and the Allegra couple was also at a loss.

for words.

Only Amanda gazed calmly at her younger sister, asking. “You insist that it was Elias. Does that mean that you saw him with your own eyes?”

Crispin tensed up at once, feeling nervous about Amanda’s question. He was confident that he had disguised himself well, and Stephanie wouldn’t likely suspect a thing.

“1…” Stephanie was suddenly speechless. It was pitch black that night; she couldn’t see anything at all.

“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Amanda pressed on, frustrating Stephanie, and she argued, “Elias deliberately turned the lights off that night. The room was pitch black. I couldn’t see anything, but I could. tell it was him. He texted me, telling me to go to the hotel. Who else could it be other than him?! And right after I entered the room….” She hesitated to continue recounting the rest of the night.

“So, you didn’t actually see Elias,” Amanda analyzed calmly. “You just assumed it was him.”

“What do you mean I just assumed?! It was Elias! He told me to go to the hotel! As for why he turned the lights off, how would I know?! He probably felt ashamed of what he was doing!”

“Wouldn’t you immediately make out who that person is if he hadn’t turned the lights off?” Amanda retorted calmly. “It’s precisely because he wants you to think he’s Elias and that he turned the lights off. The flaw is already right in your face. How can you still not get that someone is clearly trying to frame Elias?”

“Who is it then? Who’s trying to frame Elias?! Tell me!” Stephanie was beside herself with fury at this point. She couldn’t understand why she had so much faith in Elias when they had been divorced for years.

Crispin, on the other hand, hurriedly interjected, seeing that they were already beginning to solve the mystery. “You’re a lawyer, Miss Bailey. We won’t be able to out-debate you. But a grown man has to own up to his actions. I’m sure Mr. Winters understands that when even I do. Besides, you and Mr. Winters have been divorced for so long, and you can’t possibly know what kind of person he has become over the years. What we want is the truth and not your forced trust.”

Tsk… Who says Crispin is weak and incapable?

Amanda thought the man was rather resourceful. Though he was wholly protective of Stephanie, he was also throwing dirt at Elias.

She could interpret it as him being angry about being cuckolded, or maybe he was desperately trying to stop this heated discussion.

She couldn’t shake off the feeling that he was afraid of something and, at the same time, hiding something. Her sharp lawyer’s instincts told her that Crispin was certainly hiding something.

At that, she chuckled lightly. “You have quite the way with words as well, Mr. Coyote, eloquently portraying me as a rude and unreasonable woman. Besides, this has nothing to do with my divorce

from Elias. Please refrain from bringing that up. There are clearly many strange details in this case that need to be investigated thoroughly. For example, why were the lights turned off? And Stephanie never saw Elias” face the whole time. Isn’t it illogical to conclude it was him?”

The debate had now turned into a showdown between Amanda and Crispin.

“Miss Bailey, as Stephanie’s boyfriend, the issue has already broken my heart deeply. I beg you not to defame Stephanie anymore. As her sister, shouldn’t you care for her? I bet your ex-husband has everything to do with this!” Crispin knew that reasoning wouldn’t persuade Amanda, so he pulled the emotional card, hoping to sway Jack and Edith at least.

Meanwhile, Stephanie cried even harder, held in Crispin’s arms, looking as if she had suffered a great injustice.

“Even if it’s a police case, they need to present solid evidence. Are you directly convicting Elias without any concrete proof? Who do you think you are, Mr. Coyote?” Though weaning a smile as she spoke, traces of malice laced Amanda’s eyes, and Crispin was determined more than ever to bring the marriage forward, for he believed the truth would surface very soon.

Finally, Jack had enough and roared, “Alright, that’s enough! We’ll know at once if Elias is lying from a lie detector test!”

Everyone was stupefied at once, and Amanda nearly burst into laughter. No wonder Elias called him a for. What a cunning move-a lie detector test.

Stephanie instantly sat upright from Crispin’s embrace, her eyes shining with excitement. “Great idea, Dad! Let’s do it tonight! I’ll want everyone to know the truth! If he doesn’t dare to show undoubtedly him!”

Everyone eagerly anticipated the lie detector test’s results, except for Crispin, who remained silent…
