Chapter 361 I’ll Go With You

“Let me go!” Stephanie struggled to break free from Crispin’s embrace, but the man only tightened his hold on her and pleaded, “Stephanie! I won’t allow you to hurt yourself like this! You don’t need to hold onto those memories. That man will never appear before again. Just try to forget it, and everything will be alright!”

However, Stephanie stared at Crispin with bloodshot eyes and snapped, “How can I forget?! It was a real and painful experience. Tell me, how can I ever forget that? Leave me alone!”

“You can, Stephanie. Please try to forget this incident and live our lives happily together from now on, okay.” Crispin attempted to calm her down by speaking gently, but Stephanie continued to bawl as she shook her head. “I can’t. I can’t do it. I really can’t…”

“Let’s get married, Stephanie. I’ll spend the rest of my life healing your trauma, okay?” He gazed at her with sincerity.

Stephanie looked at Crispin, moved by his genuine expression, and asked, “You won’t despise

me?”

She felt tainted by that vile man and even started to hate herself. Yet, Crispin never left her side.

“No,” said Crispin as he gently tidied her disheveled hair with a smile. “I will never despise my Stephanie. In my heart, you’re pure and perfect.”

“Crisp…”

In moments like this, no woman could resist the tenderness of a man. He would be like a ray of light in the darkness.

Crispin’s face drew closer to hers, and this time Stephanie didn’t evade his touch. Instead, she closed her eyes and accepted his kiss.

As their lips met, a smile appeared on Crispin’s face. He knew he was another step closer to

success.

The following day, Elias arrived at Winters Enterprise as usual for work. There were many things to handle recently, but with Jack’s help, he should be able to reclaim the shares that belonged to his grandfather soon.

After a busy morning, he was about to grab some lunch when his secretary asked, “What would you like for lunch, Mr. Winters? Shall I order something for you or-”

Before the secretary could finish asking, Elias instructed, “Just order me something from the cafeteria. I don’t have an appetite.”

“Alright.”

Moments later, the secretary entered the office with a lunch tray and placed it on the coffee. table in the guest area before leaving.

He remained seated behind his desk, staring at the computer screen, but it was unclear what he was looking at.

Suddenly, a knock on the door broke the silence.

Elias looked up, and his initially indifferent handsome face showed a hint of warmth. He curled his lips into a slight smile. “What brings you here?”

Amanda walked into the office and closed the door behind her while explaining. “My studio is under renovation, and I took a trip to the furnishing plaza. I thought I could perhaps drop by on my way back.”

Only then did he slowly rise to his feet and walk toward the guest area.

She sat on the couch and noticed the delicious spread of food on the lunch tray. She had been hungry all morning, and her stomach was rumbling for sustenance.

“Is this your lunch?”

“Yeah, I had the secretary get it from the cafeteria, but I haven’t had a chance to eat it yet. Have you eaten? Let’s go out for lunch,” said Elias.

Alas, Amanda simply placed her bag aside, picked up the cutleries, and took a whiff, exclaiming with delight, “It smells so good! Let me have a taste.”

With that, she took a small piece of ribs and continued with surprise, “The chef at your company’s cafeteria is amazing; this is way better than the restaurants outside.”

Then, she proceeded to eat the man’s lunch without further ado.

He couldn’t help but release an amused chuckle. “Is that so? Then, you’re welcome to come over and have lunch with me every day.”

“Mmm… This is also delicious. Let me taste this too. Amanda looked at the abundant variety of dishes on the tray, at least seven or eight in total. Well, the secretary is pretty diligent. It looks like she wants to stuff her boss with the amount of food she purchased.

He sat across from her, quietly watching her eat, seemingly entertained by her eating. “What happened? What are you so ravenous? Did you not have breakfast?”

“Yeah, I was in a rush to head out, so I skipped breakfast. Are you really not going to have some? I’ll finish everything if you don’t!” She double-checked with him.

“Go ahead,” said Elias. “I’ll have the secretary get another serving if you want more.”

“Oh, no. This is enough. Your secretary is really considerate; she ordered all this food for you. Trust me. One person couldn’t possibly finish it all.” Amanda was starving, and everything tasted amazing to someone in her current condition.

Sure enough, she finished nearly all the food on the lunch tray in no time. Then, she picked up the glass of warm water from the coffee table and drank it, washing down her meal. She finally felt full and content after such a delicious meal.

Once she was done, she leaned back on the couch, caressing her stomach, which still seemed. somewhat flat, but in reality, she was stuffed.

“I’m full now, but you haven’t eaten even a single bite. Ask your secretary to get you another serving.”

“I’m not hungry,” Elias replied.

Just then, a knock came at the door.

“Come in,” said Elias without looking.

It was Yacob. He had come to report on the investigation, but he didn’t expect to find Amanda there as well.

Still, he greeted Amanda. “Hello, Miss Bailey.”

“Have you found anything?” Elias already had an idea of what Yacob was going to say. That was because he had sent Yacob to investigate the background of the gardener early this morning.

When Yacob saw that Elias didn’t mind Amanda being present, he went straight to the point. “Yes, the gardener’s name is Raymond Porter, 50 years old. He is an honest. person with no children, but he has a bedridden wife suffering from kidney failure. She has been in the hospital for years, undergoing dialysis and other costly treatments. It seems they have a very loving relationship, and his wife’s illness prevented them from having children. It doesn’t seem likely that he would harm Stephanie.”

“Aha! What did I say? That gardener didn’t look like the perpetrator at all, but… why would he be willing to take the blame? Is someone forcing him to confess?” Amanda frowned.

On the other hand, Elias narrowed his eyes. “The person forcing him to confess is likely someone we know. They’re probably worried that we’ll trace it back to them, so they got a scapegoat. I have a feeling that this gardener might have done it to keep his wife alive.”

Amanda got the gist of it as well. It was indeed touching, but she also thought the gardener was rather foolish. Even if his wife recovered, he would end up in prison. What was the point?

“I’ll have a chat with this man. Maybe I can get some information out of him,” she said, grabbing her bag and preparing to leave.

Elias stopped her, saying, “I’ll go with you. It won’t be easy to get information from him. We’ll have to use some tactics.”

“What tactics?” a puzzled Amanda inquired.

However, Elias only shot a look at Yacob. As they had a good rapport after working together for

years, the subordinate instantly understood his boss’ intention. So, he simply nodded as he exited Elias’ office without another word.

Only Amanda remained clueless, unable to comprehend what they were up to.
