Chapter 48 Mommy, You Lied to Me

The atmosphere was already strange in the first place as Simon and Lunabelle sat on the couch in the living room, but it got worse after Amanda’s return.

Some time must have passed before Lunabelle started, “You have a beautiful wife, and your son is adorable. But he doesn’t really look like you, does he?”

“It’s probably because boys usually take after their mothers.

Lunabelle nodded with a somewhat bitter smile hanging on her lips. “I’m glad to see you living a happy life.”

“How long will you be here for?”

When Lunabelle suddenly got married without warning years ago, Simon was left to suffer for a long time. However, that didn’t change anything. This was the woman who had hurt him deeply.

“I’m not planning to leave the country this time. I had a divorce,” she calmly told him as though she was talking about the weather.

Simon was somewhat shocked. They had a divorce? Was it not a happy marriage?

Lunabelle then took a glance at the time before she stood up. “It’s getting late. I should go now. You probably have to spend the night with your wife, so I will be out of your hair.”

Simon swiftly stood up as well. “I’ll see you off,” he offered.

“It’s alright. I came by car. You should go be with your wife. Women are rather sensitive. Don’t let her get suspicious.” After Lunabelle said that, she turned and left.

Simon didn’t go after her. After all, they were only friends now.

Amanda was still on the terrace when she looked at the time and noted that some time had passed. Simon and Lunabelle must have left.

As the night wind blew, she couldn’t help but rub her arms because of the chill.

She turned around to go back then when she unexpectedly saw Simon walking toward her.

He didn’t leave with her? Amanda then calmly said, “I thought you would go and see your ex- girlfriend off.”

“She is an ex-girlfriend. What is there to see off? Besides, she drove here.” Simon walked to her side.

“Simon, you don’t understand women. If she was happy, she wouldn’t have come back to you.”

Simon didn’t say anything to Amanda’s accurate guess. Lunabelle was clearly unhappy for her marriage to end up in a divorce

Amanda suddenly thought of something, and she looked at the man beside her. “You said that the drove here? It means she’s familiar with this villa. Was this your secret hideout when you were together?”

Simon admitted to it tacitly with his lack of response.

Amanda suddenly felt a little awkward when she got her answer. Why are men so good at making things uncomfortable for others? I will have to find a better place to move to as soon as possible.

“Since you both have feelings for each other, you should get back together. It is meaningless to get married to someone you don’t love.”

Simon smilingly answered, “You mean I should let her come back now because she wants to, even though she left on her own accord back then? Things like that don’t happen in real life. What’s in the past is in the past. I don’t want to dwell on it.”

Amanda only put on a faint smile upon hearing that. It didn’t matter much to her. It was not like it had anything to do with her, anyway.

“If you say so. The woman you end up marrying someday despite not loving her will be the one who suffers from the marriage.”

The night wind blew her long hair and covered her exquisite face, adding a vagueness to her beauty.

Simon was stunned for a moment as he stared at her side profile. “Do you think that I’m trying to marry you despite not having impure intentions? Do you think I’m a playboy?”

What an active imagination! Amanda thought as she quickly denied it. “No, you’re thinking too much. I just don’t want you to regret your choices. I’m tired. I’m going to sleep now. You can do whatever you want. This is your home, after all.”

After saying that, she yawned and turned to walk back into the villa.

As she was turning around, Simon noticed the hickey on her neck.

A hickey… Does she have a man? No wonder she didn’t accept my proposal to a loveless marriage. But why am I upset?

Seeing the mark on her neck put him in a terrible mood.

Amanda passed by the child’s room when she was on her way to her room. She couldn’t help but push the door open to see if Aiden was asleep.

As soon as she pushed the door open, she saw the little brat lying on the bed with his small butt

sticking up. He seemed to be asleep.

Still, Amanda laughed when she saw the sleeping position her child was in. She then walked over to properly cover her baby with the blanket.

She had just gotten in front of the bed when Aiden suddenly crawled up from bed and gazed at her expectantly, “Mommy, did you do it?”

Amanda was rather speechless at his reaction. The little brat pretended to be asleep just to have me go check up on Simon, eh? What a naughty child he is!

“You’re still up? Ha! You even are lying to Mommy now?”

“I didn’t lie! I listened to you, but I wasn’t asleep. I was waiting for you, Mommy!”

Amanda narrowed her eyes. “Children should be sleeping at this time. Why were you waiting for me? Were you waiting for me to whoop your butt?”

“I wanted to know if you managed to keep Mr. Simon in check! He was staring at that lady the whole time before you came home, and that lady kept touching his hand. Hmph!”

Aiden looked insanely adorable as he vividly described what he saw.

Seeing this, Amanda couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Where did you learn these things at such a young age? Don’t talk nonsense. Besides, Simon is single. He has the right to date other women. Why do you worry about it so much?”

“Oh, Mommy, you’re going to give me a heart attack! I told you I want Mr. Simon to be my daddy. He can’t be with any other women!”

Aiden began to freak out. He could burst into tears because of his mother’s nonchalant attitude..

Amanda sighed helplessly and lay on the bed as she held the irritable baby in her arms. “Okay, okay. Don’t be mad. Listen to Mommy, okay? Simon is not the right fit for us. I will find you a better daddy, hmm?”

The small figure lying in her arms grumbled. “But I think Mr. Simon is the best.

“That’s because you’re still young. You have only met a few men my age. There are tons of men. who are more suitable to be your daddy than Mr. Simon.”

“Really? I don’t believe you, Mommy. You’re lying!”

“Mommy doesn’t lie to children, really.” Amanda pinched her son’s face and let a laugh slip. She sometimes thought he was quite a filial child for worrying about finding her a man she could. share her burden with.

“I’ll only believe you if you bring me to them!” Aiden insisted with a serious expression.

“Okay, I promise I will let you meet your future daddy when I find him. Now, let’s go to sleep,

okay! Children need to sleep well to grow tall.”

Amanda had just finished nagging her son when she saw him yawn and close his eyes as he slowly fell asleep in her arms.

She was amazed by the child’s ability to fall asleep within a second.

Smilingly, she pecked him on the cheek and got up to leave the room.

I should wash up and hit the sack soon too, but….

She turned back to look at her sleeping baby. It is about time I got him a father. I don’t really need a man to rely on anymore, but Aiden seems to really want a father. I don’t want the other kids at the kindergarten to make fun of him for not having a father either.
