Chapter 6320: Tribulations In The Womb

“Why not?” The monarch asked.

“A few sins cannot be forgiven or redeemed, depending on the severity.” Li Qiye said.

“I see.” The monarch said before realizing something: “Wait, can a fallen dao heart be redeemed?”

“Why can’t it?” Li Qiye said.

“I didn’t think it was possible. The firmness of the dao heart should be permanent and unchanging, as grand as a rainbow leading to the horizon.” The monarch said.

“Have you reached such a stage? Did you ever hesitate or waver before? Is anyone born with an unchanging dao heart? No, so wavering and hesitation are fine.” Li Qiye said.

“Right, no one is born with a perfect dao heart.” The monarch smiled wryly.

“You would be wrong.” Li Qiye smirked.

“Really? Born with a perfect dao heart? How inconceivable.” The monarch remained skeptical.

“When the impossible becomes possible, it is no longer strange. This happened all the time.” Li Qiye said.

“How?” The monarch murmured.

“Experiencing all tribulations in the womb, that’s how.” Li Qiye said.

“You must be joking.” The monarch blurted.

Li Qiye shrugged and said: “Anything is possible, you just haven’t seen it yet.”

“Tribulations in the womb?” The monarch said.

“All tribulations can be arranged.” Li Qiye said: “Now the interesting part is whether the fetus will want to leave. Although this womb is frightening, the world might be scarier and tougher.”

“If I have to suffer so much in the womb already, I wouldn’t want to come out since it might just be more suffering. Such a crappy world isn’t worth visiting.” The monarch smiled wryly.

“Thus, there is a potential choice to be made already.” Li Qiye smiled: “The villainous heaven can create life and bring it to the world but cannot dictate what this life will become. Life means having free will, something beyond the grasp of the villainous heaven.”

“The villainous heaven cannot mold this life to have the same thoughts?” The monarch asked.

“Not a foreign idea, but impossible to carry out. Nine out of ten things don’t go as planned in life, so such a life will go astray eventually. Even if the villainous heaven sends down its dao and avatar, they will not be as imagined.” Li Qiye said.

“I see.” The monarch said.

“For example, you can conjure an identical self and let it roam free. Will it reach the eternal level like you?” Li Qiye asked.

“I’ve never thought about it before, let alone experiment.” The monarch said.

“The self is the final determination, the villainous heaven and others can only reveal the path.” Li Qiye said.

“Right.” The monarch said softly. This dao avatar wouldn’t become what he wanted it to be.

“Now back to the immortal ascension. The path is clear for you, it depends on whether you are willing to pay the price. Are you ready to become a cripple, not guaranteed to reach the apex again?” Li Qiye said.

“It’s not guaranteed even if I survive each time?” The monarch asked.

“Is it guaranteed for a rich man, starting over as a beggar, to gather the same wealth again?” Li Qiye asked.

“No.” The monarch said.

“And that is the dao heart.” Li Qiye said: “Are you willing to pay the price?”

“I’m unsure whether it is worth it.” The monarch said.

“Right, the ethereal stage might not be worth it. A supreme overlord can still live long enough.” Li Qiye said.

“I find myself lacking now.” The monarch smiled wryly.

“This is nothing to be ashamed about, just different choices.” Li Qiye said: “Back to the previous point, there are some who are born into wealth.”

“Lucky.” The monarch said.

“And luck is an integral part of one’s ability.” Li Qiye said: “Luck alone means nothing, one still has to maintain that wealth. Spending it all or staying frugal, another matter of the dao heart.”

“Might as well spend it, enjoy the luck instead of being a stingy dragon hoarding the treasury.” The monarch said.

“Yes, and this happens to people after becoming an emperor or an overlord. They think they have toiled their whole life, why prolong the suffering with an impossible goal?” Li Qiye said.

“True, maybe being an overlord is already wonderful enough?” The monarch agreed.

“Time takes its toll on people. Supreme overlords had a firm dao heart once, they faltered because they no longer want to endure.” Li Qiye said.

“Yes, it is easier to swallow the world than to train and suffer the villainous heaven’s torture.” The monarch said.

“As you stand here and now, ask yourself, can you endure?” Li Qiye asked.

“I don’t know about becoming an immortal, but I can endure as I am right now. Otherwise, I would be degrading myself.” The monarch said.

“Making the right choice is certainly difficult.” Li Qiye smiled.

“Sigh, looks like there’s no hope for me.” The monarch knew his limit and said: “I lack determination, unlike Desolate Ancestor or Zhan Sansheng. That’s why Zhan Sansheng chewed the hard bones, how many could have done what he did?”

“It was impressive.” Li Qiye smiled: “No hesitation when doing the impossible, no fear when it might have ended in death, opposing me when it is utterly hopeless. He had the right qualities to become one.”
