CHAPTER 424
As she ushered them in with a sidestep and a small smile, Andromeda blinked back the confusion that was swirling in her eyes.
"Welcome."
As much as Gu Jun waited for Mo Yuning's response, it seemed that she was not going to give it, so he stepped inside first while she followed after giving him an apologetic look to Andromeda.
"Sorry about this," he said softly when both of them were seated on opposite sides of the table.
Mo Yuning shied away, looking at the table, while Gu Jun sat down without saying anything else. He simply stared at Andromeda until, finally, she broke into laughter and shook her head at herself.
"I am sorry too! It is just..."
She paused and looked around again before continuing with a soft voice. "It's been a long time since we last met, and you are here now with another woman," she insinuated jokingly, masking the anger that swirled in her eyes.
Gu Jun's brows creased as if trying to understand what was happening, but all three of them remained silent—Andromeda because of how awkward everything felt, the other two due to their own thoughts, which made their expressions stiffen up as well.
Finally, the silence became unbearable, making Gu Jun break out of his trance-like state by clearing his throat loudly enough for everyone in the room to hear him.
"How is work?"
"Work is fine and tiring," Andromeda replied casually as she picked up her glass of juice and took a swig of her drink.
"I see. I saw the news about Liu Xueyi and Xie Tian. Those two do not know how to stay friends, do they?"
Andromeda chuckled lightly, then turned towards Mo Yuning, who had yet to say a word throughout the whole conversation.
Her eyes remained fixed on the two of them from where she sat across from them, hands intertwined on top of the table.
"So... How are you preparing for Fashion Week? It's only two days away, Andromeda."
The question came unexpectedly, but she answered it with ease. "I have already started working, give or take, I do not plan on letting my life's issue interrupt."
Gu Jun nodded slowly and smiled at her answer while he continued staring at her face intently. "You look good, by the way."
She gave him an amused smile and shrugged her shoulders slightly. "Thanks," she said softly, appreciating him before taking another sip of her drink.
Andromeda was still playing that game, but she kept one eye on Mo Yuning as they talked.
"Tell me, you made mention of chasing her, right? So how does she feel about this?" Andromeda asked suddenly after a few minutes passed by without any further words exchanged between them."
"What makes you think this is a chase?" Gu Jun raised a brow curiously with a hint of a smile.
He loved teasing her as well as she did too and since Mo Yuning wanted to keep her mouth shut, he thought maybe that could reel out something from her lips.
He looked back into his cup for a moment before looking up again to meet her gaze directly.
"Because I am sure there is no way for you to suddenly push through unless something happened or if the other party feels the same for you too," she explained simply and stole a glance at Mo Yuning.
"So what happened? Does she know how you feel and has she agreed?" Andromeda questioned once more.
Gu Jun nodded. "Yes, she does know how I feel and she hasn't given me a proper answer either. She's been avoiding my calls since we met up yesterday. However, I hijacked her today for lunch. She didn't even know we were meeting up with you."
"That would explain why she is so quiet," Andromeda stated. "Makes one wonder if she has anything hidden to discuss with you or something bothering her."
"I don't understand… Why are you saying all these things? It feels like there is something veiled between you two that I do not know," Gu Jun pointed out in confusion.
Andromeda shrugged with a smile as she let down her cup, folded her hands and let her gaze settle on Mo Yuning.
"I don't know perhaps she should tell me, because I would not appreciate anyone playing with your feelings, Gu Jun."
Gu Jun stared at Andromeda, trying hard to read the expression on the woman's face but he could only see the usual calmness he had come to expect from Andromeda when he was around her—a mask which hid whatever was going through her mind behind it.
He knew better than most people how much effort went into maintaining such a facade; however, this time was different.
He felt a sense of uneasiness coming off of Andromeda. Something wasn't right.
But then again, maybe this is just his imagination running wild again... Maybe this is nothing more than an overactive brain thinking about something stupid again!
"Yeah, I know but I do not think she is," Gu Jun said after some moments passed by without any further words exchanged between them.
"But I have never seen you act like this before," he added before turning towards Mo Yuning who remained silent throughout. "I'm sorry if you feel on edge but what's the matter?" he asked her.
She looked at him with a blank stare before shaking her head slowly and looking away.
Gu Jun frowned at her reaction and turned back to Andromeda, whose eyes were still fixed on her while she waited for a response.
"I am sorry for interrupting your conversation," Andromeda spoke up suddenly. "But I would appreciate it if she speaks or have me do it myself."
She paused for a moment as if waiting for something else but there was no reply forthcoming so she continued speaking once more.
"Because I think we are done here." She stood up abruptly as if dismissing everyone present in that room but instead, she crossed her arms in front of her chest and waited.
"Aren't you going to tell him?"
"Tell me what?" Gu Jun interjected, his gaze darting between both ladies.
"No, wait, do not tell me you two met and have spoken about my feelings. If that is the case, Andromeda you are scaring her. Relax and we will..."
"Scaring her?" Andromeda interjected sharply. "Gu Jun, you are my friend and I love you. I think it would be best for you two if she explains who Tang Yan is to her."
