Chapter 11
Chapter 11
The Lady Boss Who Views Money as Important as Her Life
As she spoke, she called out.
“Meow~” A lazy-sounding meow rang out in response.
Thereafter, a bluish-gray chubby British Shorthair walked out of the back kitchen, holding onto a fish in its mouth. It then swallowed the fish.
“Ahh... my fish!”
A sharp agonizing scream rang out. It sounded a little charming too.
“This is a spirit fish! It costs $20,000 for one!”
Spirit fish were different from ordinary reared animals.
It was a great nutritional item that contained pure energy. Usually, only those who were first-realm cultivators or higher could afford it.
Each spirit creature was worth extraordinary value, so it was very normal for one fish to be worth $20,000.
Hence, the woman let out a surprised cry, finding it hard to accept this scene.
After that, she threw her head back and fainted from anger.
Lin Chang`an quickly supported her with his hand on her slim waist.
“Why is she so heavy?”
This woman’s figure was very slender. Other than her exaggerated chest, the rest of her body was thin and well-proportioned. Logically speaking, she should be very light.
However, even with Lin Chang`an’s qi and blood value, he felt that this woman’s body felt a little heavy the instant she fell.
He then called out at the cat. “Baobao, come here~”
Baobao gave Lin Chang`an a sideward glance before turning its head away, seemingly with a bit of disdain.
Then, it slipped away back to the kitchen.
Lin Chang`an felt helpless and didn’t go after the cat.
He looked at the lady boss as a helpless expression appeared on his face.
The woman’s name was Chu Li, and she loved money like her life.
Three years ago, when Lin Chang`an first transmigrated, his parents were dead and he didn’t have any savings. He was hungry and cold.
This woman then gave him a piece of bread and let him work for her for a day.
Thereafter, she hired him and paid him $2,000 per month.
The salary wasn’t high, but it wasn’t bad for Lin Chang`an.
He had gone to many shops previously, but none of them took in students.
However, after working for a month, the bakery closed down.
Lin Chang`an thought that he was going to starve again, but he didn’t expect Chu Li to open a wedding planning company next. Lin Chang`an continued to work for her.
After another month, the company closed down again.
Thereafter, Chu Li kept on starting new businesses. He had no idea where she got her capital from, but she kept on going through the cycle of starting and closing businesses.
Until now, Lin Chang`an couldn’t remember which attempt this was for Chu Li’s entrepreneurship.
“I really have to give in to you.”
He placed her down on the table, circulated his qi and blood, and then tapped softly below her nose. The woman slowly regained consciousness.
“$20,000! Compensate me!”
Lin Chang`an: “?? I wasn’t the one who saved this cat.”
(There’s no way that I’m going to compensate her for this.)
(Not even if I have to sell my body!)
“Isn’t this your cat?”
“Would this have happened if you didn’t save it?”
“Would I be able to save this cat if you didn’t rear it?”
“Would I be able to rear this cat if you hadn’t hired me for work?”
“If you hadn’t come to look for a job, would I be able to hire you?”
“If you didn’t start a business, would I be able to come to look for a job?”
“?? I don’t care, you have to compensate!” Chu Li grabbed firmly onto Lin Chang`an’s arm. When money was concerned, it seemed that there was nothing in this world that could stop her.
“I...”
Before he could give this matter much thought, another scream rang out.
“My... my fish!”
Chu Li fainted once again.
Lin Chang`an took a look at the kitchen. Baobao had picked up two more spirit fish, walked out slowly, and then raised its head to swallow them.
“You really aren’t afraid of choking to death!”
Lin Chang`an pounced on it, wanting to beat it up.
He hadn’t eaten a single spirit fish yet, yet this cat was eating three in a day?
The chubby Baobao suddenly exerted force with its legs and directly dodged.
Before Lin Chang`an could react, it had swaggered up the roof beam.
When he looked again, it had disappeared.
“This cat?? Has it mutated?! Could it be that it’s undergoing a spirit beast transformation?”
It suddenly struck Lin Chang`an when he looked at this scene.
How would ordinary cats be able to eat three spirit fish? That tremendous amount of spirit qi would cause an ordinary cat’s body to explode.
The fact that Baobao could eat it proved that it had definitely mutated!
“Could this be due to the dungeon?”
This thought suddenly rose in his mind.
Back when he found Baobao, it was just an ordinary cat.
Until seven days ago, there was nothing abnormal about it.
In these few days, the only thing that had happened was that his house sank underground.
Based on what Chu Li said, the officials assessed that there could be a dungeon currently being formed.
This meant that the greatest possibility came from underground!
“Although it has been 300 years since the discovery of spirit qi, it remains unknown how dungeons are formed. Moreover, there are all kinds of differences and strange things in the dungeons. Many opportunities have yet to be completely investigated…”
It seemed that the level of the dungeon that appeared where his house was wasn’t low!
It was considered a great opportunity to be able to allow an ordinary cat to evolve into a spirit beast.
And such great opportunities usually meant that there were dangers.
However, to Lin Chang`an, regardless of the dangers, it was fine as long as he could keep on running the simulations.
If one time didn’t work, he’d do it two times. If two times didn’t work, he’d do it three times.
If it still didn’t work out after the third time, he’d just continue. It didn’t matter even if it took him 10 or even 100 runs.
Right now, the money he had left was enough to do 60 simulations.
He was just about to go take a look when a cold hand grabbed him. “Compensate!”
Chu Li slowly regained consciousness again and there were tears in her eyes.
Three fish!
The sales from opening the business for a month didn’t even generate so much money!
How long would it take for her to earn the money back?
“What has it got to do with me?”
Lin Chang’an thought to himself. (There’s no way I’ll compensate for this even if I had to sell my body. The most you’d get is to coerce me into giving you s*xual favors!)
“Isn’t it your cat?”
“Would this have happened if you didn’t save it?”
“I’m not going to argue with you. Compensate! Little Chang’an, don’t infuriate me!” Chu Li had a pitiful look on her face, as if she was going to kill herself if she didn’t get the money.
“Boss! I have a plan. Let’s talk about it.”
Lin Chang`an thought to himself that he had a total of a little over 60,000. How was he going to run simulations if he were to use the money for compensation?
“Compensate! If you don’t, then don’t think of leaving!”
“It’s a plan about your compensation.”
“Oh... go on!”
Lin Chang`an told her about his conjecture about the dungeon.
There was no way to hide this even if he wanted to.
Even though Chu Li hadn’t gotten around to things now, it was just because she was experiencing great heartache from losing money.
It took only a short moment for Chu Li to understand that his cat had definitely undergone a mutation. She’d soon be able to infer that there was a connection between this and the dungeon.
By then, there’d be no hiding things, so he might as well say things outright now.
Lin Chang`an was very assured about his boss’s character.
At this moment, Chu Li listened seriously and kept nodding in agreement.
After Lin Chang`an was done talking, Chu Li’s eyes gleamed. “If we can get our hands on the stuff inside, we’ll be rich, right? They’d definitely be very valuable!”
“Isn’t it good to use them for ourselves?” Lin Chang`an wondered why Chu Li always thought of selling things.
“That’s true! No, it’s better to sell them for money!”
“There might be danger if we were to sell them for money.”
“It’s fine. I have my channels.”
Lin Chang`an felt helpless.
However, it was true that his lady boss was mysterious and a little resourceful. She had started so many businesses and had gotten her hands on quite a lot of forbidden items. There wasn’t a need for him to worry too much.
“So what should we do now?”
“Let’s go take a look first,” said Lin Chang`an and then headed out.
Chu Li quickly closed up the shop and followed him.
“Oh right, were there any customers for the past few days? What kind of business are you planning on starting next?”
“There wasn’t any.” Chu Li had a melancholic look on her face. “What are you planning on doing after quitting this job? I heard that you definitely won’t be able to get into an academy. Why not follow this older sister? I won’t treat you shabbily.”
“2,000 a month? Won’t treat me shabbily?”
“Oh, I get it now. Has a first-realm gay cultivator taken a liking to you and asked you to be their gigolo? That’s why you don’t care about the work I can offer?”
“To hell with that!”
Lin Chang`an thought to himself. (Even if I had to be subservient to someone, I’d look for a female.)
