Chapter 474 Who's Stronger: Human of Phantom? (Part 5)
Adam was sure of his victory, Silvana was in doubt, she didn't know what result to expect, but at least she counted on seeing a long battle.
But... What did they get in the end?
Max defeated Adam in just a few moves and strangely enough, the blue zone helped him.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Space shook as Adam appeared on the platform. This was a virtual, digital reality so that he could die an infinite number of times.
"What...? Hey! That wasn't fair! I didn't even know that coming into contact with the zone boundaries would kill me!" Adam exclaimed irritably.
He was disappointed that he had lost so quickly. Moreover, he lost not because of Max's onslaught of punches, but because he was thrown outside the arena.
Max raised his chin, looking intently at Adam.
"Hmm, why? If you fight in the middle of a lava lake and a monster throws you outside the platform, you won't have a chance to complain. You'll just burn to the ground, your skin, flesh, and bones turning to embers."
Adam gulped as he realized that Max's words made sense.
Sure, it was unlikely that the molten metal would leave him badly burned, his body was already too strong, but all this only applied to things from the human world.
Lava filled with dense energy could kill him just as ordinary lava would be lethal to a normal human.
"Hey, Adam." Tron smirked, turning to him.
Then, Tron pointed to the floor.
"You can buy a pack of cigarettes later, but you can do 100 push-ups right now. So I suggest you get started so you don't waste any time."
Adam rolled his eyes but didn't argue. After all, he had agreed to it himself.
Dropping to the floor, Adam began to quickly do his push-ups. Sure, it wasn't his real body, but the whole sensations and exertion were exactly the same.
'Tsk. What's even going on?' Adam internally muttered with a great grimace.
'Ever since I came back from the Dead Lands and became K2-Phantom I've been constantly losing to someone! First Damien, now Max, it won't be easy against Tron either. Maybe losing is good for me, but I'm definitely not comfortable with it!'
Dahla smirked as she turned to Silvana with an arrogant smile.
"I told you. Max is much stronger than you thought. What's more, he still hasn't shown all he's capable of."
Silvana narrowed her eyes.
"You know, you have a strange interest in Max, considering he's just a normal human."
Dahla shrugged.
"That's because he's strong. Look beyond that, I'm sure you'll be surprised."
Silvana took a long pause. From the moment she watched Max fight she had one curious question in mind, but for now, she wasn't sure if it was worth asking it.
Tap.
Adam leaned off the ground, finishing his hundred pushups.
"Fine, I'm ready to continue. You'll be doing the next hundred pushups, I'm sure of it!" Adam vigorously spoke up, pointing at Max.
Max smiled.
"I won't mind losing."
Adam's eyes went wide, he was puzzled to hear such an answer.
Experience more content on empire
He wanted to win but couldn't, and yet Max, the one who had easily defeated him in the first fight wanted to lose. For Adam, it was a dissonance.
Searching for an answer, he turned to Tron, since Max wasn't saying anything.
"Well, Max's words make sense. If you defeat him, then the first round will be over and part of your training will be completed. Although, I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon."
Adam frowned. He didn't like the fact that Tron was underestimating him. Moreover, he realized that Tron wasn't teasing or mocking him, he was just giving his opinion, which was the worst-case scenario.
"Argh, stop talking. I'll buy a pack of cigarettes later, let's fight again!" Adam waved his hand, clenching his fist tightly with a fiery look.
Max shrugged his shoulders.
"Go ahead. You can attack at any time. I don't need a special invitation for that."
Adam nodded before tearing forward.
This time, Max stood on his spot until Adam was right in front of him.
Adam clenched his fist tightly, aiming for Max's head.
In response, Max only threw his head back, missing Adam's fist right in front of him.
'What...? I attacked fast enough. It's unlikely that even the Plague Reaper would be able to dodge this attack!' Adam internally exclaimed in a confusion.
Then, he continued to launch his attacks, swinging with great amplitude in an attempt to deliver a powerful blow, but none of his attempts were successful.
Max methodically took steps back and angled his body so that Adam's fists passed within a centimeter of their target.
There was no point in powerful blows if they couldn't hit the enemy - Max decided to demonstrate this clearly to Adam, who was in no hurry to give up and continued his attempts.
"Hey, Adam, our speed is practically the same right now. You physically can't hit me when your movements are several times longer than mine." Max uttered, tilting his torso to the left.
At the same moment, Adam's right fist swept over Max's shoulder, almost hitting it.
"If you were faster than me, that would make sense. One powerful attack would be enough to end the fight, but... right now, our physical stats are equal."
"Shut up!" Adam exclaimed, straining his muscles to the limit.
Max shrugged and stepped forward sharply, passing under his fist.
Thus, Adam's and Max's faces were very close together, their foreheads practically colliding.
"In a situation like this, strong attacks only make sense when the enemy can't dodge. Such as now."
Max said serenely as his two palms came down on Adam's ears, shaking his brain. For a brief period, this completely disarmed Adam, his eyes going blank.
By the time he returned to normal, the first thing he saw was Max's fist that threw him back a few meters.
Adam flew into the edge of the blue zone again, shattering like a glass figure.
That was his second defeat to an ordinary human, who gained physical might comparable to a monster, and was able to fight back.
