Chapter 292: Defeating the Governors Army.
Chapter 292: Defeating the Governors Army.
Under the veil of the night, the war on the grass plain was raging on, with the miserable screams of soldiers reverberating through the night sky.
What was supposed to be an ambush had turned into a full frontal war.
General Sun rose into the sky, veins protruding from his forehead. He watched the chaos below with seething rage.
Their enemies were killing them as if they were nothing but fish on chopping boards.
"How could this be?" He thought in despair.
Previously, he thought the disparity between them and the enemies was not much. But now, watching the battle, he knew they were wrong.
Their enemies were far beyond what they could fight with their puny armies.
The more he looked at the battle, the more stunned he became. What left him dumbfounded were those wearing straight armors.
They only needed a single strike to decimate his men. A single one of them could take ten of his men without breaking a sweat.
"What sorcery is this?" He thought out loud.
To them, there wasn't any disparity between higher realm soldiers and lower realm. They killed them with a single strike.
"What is that thing they put on?" He asked, looking at the commanders standing beside him.
"General, we don't know," one of the commanders responded.
Listening to the response, he gnashed his teeth in anger. How could they know anything about their enemies?
However, he knew it was not the time to berate them.
"Focus your attack on those with strange armor. We must get our hands on those armor," he commanded and disappeared from his position.
Dressed in light leather armor with his long broadsword, General Sun joined the battle with an aura filled with killing intent.
With his cultivation at Intermediate Core Refining stage 6, he alone was worth ten thousand soldiers.
Behind him, all the commanders drew their weapons, joining the battle.
On the ground, the Elite teams raised their heads and saw the Core Refining experts ready to launch their attack on them.
However, instead of panicking, they only flashed them a bright smile before they ignored them and continued their killing.
It wasn't that they were worried about them, but they knew their death was already in the back. It was only a matter of time.
Just as General Sun and his commanders launched their attacks, a terrifying sword light came from the other side of the battleground.
Without thinking twice, General Sun and the commanders dodged it.
"Who dares stop this General?!" He shouted. "Come out now and be judged."
He was on the verge of insanity, and only the blood of his enemies could quench his rage.
And now, some rats dared stop him.
From the darkness outside the battleground, hundreds of thousands of soldiers appeared in a deadly, intimidating formation.
"Who are you to judge us?" The First Commander of the Elite Units demanded.
Looking at the newly arrived formidable force, General Sun sucked in a cold breath, and his back drenched in cold sweat.
"How could this be?!" He shouted in dismay.
This was way beyond what he could comprehend.
He thought they previously underestimated their enemies, and that was what led to their defeat.
When he found the strange armors, he thought he knew how their enemies defeated their men.
With all this, he believed if they killed all those with strange armor, they would change the tide of the war.
But how wrong was he?
Their enemies had not even deployed their full force, and his men had almost been killed.
He came with over five hundred thousand soldiers, but in the span of one day, he had lost half of them, and that was not all.
They were being killed at an alarming speed. With such a rate, he knew before dawn all his men would have become corpses.
Looking at the rows of intimidating soldiers, General Sun was unsure of how to react for a couple of seconds.
"General..." One of the commanders called in a low trembling voice.
"You don't have to fear. I will handle them while you continue with the plan," General Sun responded bravely.
Since things had reached this juncture, they couldn't cower in fear.
When the First Commander heard this, he smiled and prepared to speak when a voice came from the side.
"Commander, let me handle him." Meiling rode her horse forward, beaming with confidence.
"Alright. Make it quick. Our men need to relax after this."
"Thank you. I will." She nodded and rode her steed toward General Sun.
Previously, when she rode to war, she was filled with fear and nervousness, unsure if she would ever return alive.
But now, such thoughts never appeared in her mind. Your journey continues with M V L
As Meiling rode to meet General Sun, nine other horses rode after her.
They were commanders of the second to tenth Elite Unit.
Their task was simple: Kill the enemies' commanders and return quickly.
When General Sun saw Meiling rushing toward him, he felt humiliated. How dared them send an ordinary Foundation Building realm warrior to fight him.
"I'll make you regret this," he shouted and swung his sword horizontally.
A powerful sword light traveled at breathtaking speed toward Meiling.
Without hesitating, she jumped off her horse and activated her armor.
Hum!
A slight hum came from the armor, and her aura rose at an alarming speed to the Core Refining realm.
Bang!
She struck her sword, cleaving the sword light into two. With that moment, she kicked the ground and rose to meet General Sun in the sky.
Arriving in the sky, she attacked fiercely.
The proud and condescending smile on General Sun's face had already changed when he saw how easily his attack was cleaved into two.
With her now in front of him, his expression was solemn, and he retaliated with the same fierceness.
Bang! Bang!
In the sky, the two exchanged tens of sword attacks, canceling each other out.
To the side, all the Elite unit commanders needed only a single attack to cleave their opponents into two.
Easy and effortless.
With General Sun being the only Core Refining expert left, Biyu deployed one hundred thousand infantry rushed into the enemies' camps for the finishing touch.
Half came from the Cold Steel Pass, while the other half was from the Celestial Forte army.
With one hundred thousand fresh soldiers, it was a matter of time before the Governor army was defeated.
In the sky, a silhouette fell and crashed to the ground, a miserable scream escaping from his mouth.
A mouthful of blood escaped from his mouth, together with some of his innards.
His face was filled with despair and confusion. He couldn't understand how he was defeated by a Foundation Building realm warrior.
He came to the backward Prefecture in pride but was defeated hands down.
From the beginning to end, they were dominated and slaughtered like lambs.
Slowly, Meiling descended before him and pointed her sword to his neck.
She looked straight deep into his eyes and saw fear.
"You never expected this, right?" She asked.
"Yes," he responded truthfully with some difficulty.
"Don't worry, you won't be the only one to die by my sword. The governor will follow after you."
"What?!"
General Sun widened his eyes in shock. Unknown to him, that would be the last time he ever made such an expression.
Whoosh!
His head separated from his body with his eyes still widened.
The war, which was just a casual response to take over the secret realm by the state governor, had turned into a conflict that would forever change the empire.
And this was just the first war; more were to come.
