Chapter 64 : Spirit Comm upgrade... Attack From the Sea race.
Chapter 64 : Spirit Comm upgrade... Attack From the Sea race.
After dealing with the Crimson Jade Pavilion, the barren land return to their usual routine.
Today something changed. They received a sudden notification.
"To all Spirit Comms users, Spirit Comm is going to be upgraded in the next five minutes."
The sudden notification appeared in the minds of everyone using the Spirit Comms.
"What the hell is an upgrade?"
Everyone in the barren land was shocked and confused. How would the Celestial Heavenly Sect upgrade their Spirit Comms?
The three merchants were skeptical and scared. Would this upgrade be detrimental to their product? They all wondered.
Since they had signed the agreement with the Celestial Heavenly Sect, they needed to renew their plan every month if they wanted the Spirit Comms they manufactured to work.
They tried to find a back door to it.
However, everything was futile; moreover, they were sternly warned as they were easily caught by the sect.
Since then, none of them entertained the thought of reverse-engineering the Spirit Comms.
Now, with the Spirit Comms about to undergo an upgrade, they wondered if their devices would also receive the upgrade.
In the southern barren land, Huang Yin was looking at the new upgrade with a bright smile on her face.
"What a marvelous idea," she said aloud.
"What is a marvelous idea?" Huang Rou asked, puzzled.
Huang Yin realized she had spoken her thoughts out loud and looked at her niece mysteriously. "You will find out soon."
"Hmm?" Huang Rou was confused but received no further explanation as Huang Yin turned her attention back to her Spirit Comms.
Quickly, the five minutes were up.
Immediately, all Spirit Comms froze for a second with a message appearing:
"Upgrading."
"Upgrading 1.0.x completed."
"New features."
"Phone book: (1) You can delete and block any contact.
(2) You can put your Spirit Comms on Do Not Disturb and Busy.
(3) When Busy: You can see the missed calls from those who tried to contact you."
After this notification, the interface of every Spirit Comms changed.
The interface was now sky blue with a digital clock in the center, below which was an icon of the phone book.
When people saw this, they were astounded. Even though they had never seen a smartphone before, the ingenuity of this creation was so dazzling that they were captivated.
Apart from the phone book, the idea of having the power to know the time was so great that many people laughed hysterically on the street.
No one had ever seen a digital clock before; they had all used incense sticks and hourglasses to tell the time.
But now, everything was different.
Once the euphoria of the digital clock subsided, people looked at the small phone book icon and clicked on it.
All their previous contacts were arranged alphabetically with dates and times below each entry.
Even though this feature was new to them, after a few minutes of exploring, everyone got the hang of it.
The joy on the faces of the people in the barren land was evident as they gathered in twos and threes to discuss the new feature.
Previously, the Spirit Comms could be annoying when an unwanted call intruded on their consciousness.
Now, they didn't have to worry about that.
In the Celestial Heavenly Sect, Core Elder Su Jie and others looked at Su Yen with bright smiles.
"Sect Master, what a marvelous idea. With this, the sale of the Spirit Comms will increase," an outer elder said.
"Now, the previous complaints will all disappear."
Su Yen looked at the excited elder and shook his head inwardly. In his previous world, a phone was just one of many earthshaking inventions.
"This world will soon reach that level... I should release the message feature too..."
He had designed the message app but had not released it yet. He wanted the people to gradually get used to the Spirit Comms.
Putting aside thoughts of technology, Su Yen asked, "How is the mining of the spirit stones going?"
"We have just discovered the location of the spirit mine," Core Elder Su Jie responded with a bright smile.
With the discovery of a spirit mine, the atmosphere of the Barren Land would change. It had been named barren due to its thin spiritual essence and the absence of spirit veins.
Now that they had discovered a spirit vein, it wouldn't be barren land for much longer.
"Good! When will the mining start?" Su Yen asked happily.
They were already short on spirit stones. Since the Bronze Metal functioned best with a spirit stone, they were in dire need of them.
"Elder Feng said they should start immediately after eliminating all the beasts in the surrounding area," he responded.
Su Yen was about to reply when he received a call from Elder Feng.
"Sect Master!" Elder Feng called in panic.
"We are under attack by the sea race. We need your help immediately."
Su Yen stood, his expression turning solemn. "Wait for me... retreat and don't engage with them any longer."
He ended the call and looked at the elders, saying with a solemn voice, "I need to go; our people are in danger."
When they heard this, their expressions turned unsightly, but Su Yen paid no attention to their reactions as he left the martial hall.
"If I use a horse, it will take me longer, and if I run… I'll exhaust my spiritual essence," he muttered.
He furrowed his brow and gazed at the endless forest on the horizon.
"What if I find a flying beast..." he said aloud, a smile appearing on his face.
Whoosh!
He disappeared from his spot, utilizing his movement skill. No one saw how he moved; they only felt a gust of wind.
Since the Celestial Heavenly Sect was at the center of the Dreadshade Forest, he arrived quickly.
He didn't stop at the outer region and continued toward the core region. In the past, he would have been afraid to venture into the core region, but not anymore.
Upon reaching the core region, he looked in the direction where he had been killed countless times and shook his head.
He stepped into the core section, where the tall ancient trees and broad leaves blocked the sun from reaching the forest floor.
The core section was exceptionally quiet, and the spiritual essence was thicker than outside.
Although the forest was quiet, Su Yen could feel various spiritual senses scanning him continuously.
However, since he didn't hide his cultivation base, some weaker beasts didn't dare to attack.
He moved quickly in the core section, searching for any flying beasts. Suddenly, he halted in his tracks and turned to look in a particular direction.
"Long time no see, old friend," he said calmly.
