Chapter 89 : The battle on the sea - Part 3
"Is that all?" she taunted, her voice laced with unwavering arrogance.
"Do you think your mere weak arrows would deter me from cutting out your gut and feed them to the birds?" She continued, her voice was as arrogant as ever.
Wang Baozhai's arrogance reverberated through the tense atmosphere. She taunted her adversaries with unwavering confidence, asserting her dominance. Her words were a challenge, daring her foes to make a move.
Her fierce gaze was directed at Su Ming, as if inviting him to unleash his worst. However, Su Ming's response was far from intimidated.
He regarded the arrogant lady with a chuckle, finding her threats less than impressive compared to the challenges he'd faced before.
But just as he was about to respond to Wang Baozhai's taunts, his spirit communication device received a call. Su Ming's eyes shifted in her direction, and a knowing smile graced his lips.
"Two can play the game," he muttered, his expression filled with intrigue and determination.
As a Qi Refinement expert, Su Ming had sensed the presence of more than ten Qi Refinement experts aboard the enemy's flagship, yet to reveal themselves. Still, he remained unfazed.
"If you think this is all we've got, you'll be surprised," he replied calmly, his confidence unwavering.
Wang Baozhai scoffed in disdain and gave the order with a cold, authoritative shout. The tension in the air reached its peak as the impending battle unfolded.
"Attack!"
The situation escalated rapidly as a hundred black-clad men emerged from the depths of the water, wielding long spears.
With uncanny precision, they threw ropes with curved metal hooks attached to the edge of the barren ship.
The hooks clung firmly to the ship, allowing the black-clad men to ascend the vessel in a matter of seconds.
This daring incursion targeted only the three ships in the center of the formation.
Su Ming and the soldiers on the barren ship didn't show a hint of surprise or alarm. Their calmness was unsettling, as if they had anticipated the arrival of their attackers.
Wang Baozhai, observing the eerie calm on the three central ships, furrowed her brow. Confusion clouded her thoughts.
"What's happening? Aren't they aware their ships are under attack?" Her plans to bait her barren landers into losing their guard seemed to have failed.
On the two Crimson Jade Pavilion ships flanking Wang Baozhai's vessel, the seven surrounding barren ships initiated another round of attacks.
Arrows soared through the sky toward the two ships, causing chaos among the soldiers. Commanders shouted, ordering the troops to take cover.
The soldiers' thoughts expressed frustration with the "weak barren landers" who proved unexpectedly resilient. They sought refuge from the approaching barrage of arrows, their trepidation evident.
Then, suddenly, the thousand arrows altered course, raining down into the sea with a resounding whistling sound.
Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!
The atmosphere turned ominous as cries of despair and pain emanated from the water. Some fortunate souls resurfaced, gasping for breath, only to face a fresh onslaught of arrows. Others who tried to dive deeper into the sea met even grimmer fates.
While this was unfolding, the battle on the three central ships was about to commence.
The hundred black-clad men successfully boarded the ship, their leader a middle-aged man soaked from the water but seemingly untroubled by it.
"You're to calm for person that was about meet his doom" He said casually.
He possessed a formidable presence, being an Intermediate Qi Refinement stage 5, a powerful entity among the comparatively weaker barren landers. However, he was about to receive a shock of a lifetime.
Su Ming regarded the middle-aged man for a brief moment and then shook his head. He seemed to understand the middle-aged man's thoughts.
In the face of an adversary Intermediate Qi Refinement stage 5, Su Ming should appeared helpless.
Yet, he seem not care. Who ask him to have a genius brother.
"Just die," Su Ming muttered in a low voice.
With incredible speed, Su Ming moved like a gust of wind, making it nearly impossible for anyone to follow his actions.
The middle-aged man had opened his mouth to speak when he saw Su Ming's sword appear in front of his face.
Thud!
His head was cleanly separated from his body, rolling a few inches across the deck before coming to a halt. Blood spurted from the severed neck, and the headless body fell lifelessly to the ground.
The black-clad men, even the three Qi Refinement warriors among them, were too paralyzed by fear to make a move.
They trembled like leaves, their eyes fixed on Su Ming as though he were a harbinger of doom. In his presence, they saw a devil they could not hope to overcome..
Clang!
Amid the blood-stained chaos on the barren lander's ship, one of the Qi Refinement experts dropped his long spear and raised his hands in surrender.
His companions swiftly followed suit, dropping their weapons and surrendering as well. The sight of Su Ming's incredible strength had left them no choice but to submit.
Wang Baozhai, who had been observing the battle from her ship, stared in disbelief as her men surrendered without mounting a fight.
Her frustration was palpable, and she clenched her teeth, veins bulging on her forehead.
"Elder miss… Help us!" A desperate voice cried out from the other Crimson Jade Pavilion ship, drawing Wang Baozhai's attention at the very moment when she felt her anger was about to boil over.
She turned her head quickly to look in the direction of the voice. "What happened?!" she exclaimed, her jaw nearly hitting the floor in astonishment.
The two ships under her command were under heavy siege. Barren land soldiers had swarmed her vessels, ruthlessly massacring her men as if they were mere flies.
"How is this possible?" Dong, Wang Baozhai's right-hand man, questioned in disbelief. "Aren't they just Body Building Realm warriors? How can they kill our men so easily?"
This perplexing turn of events left both Wang Baozhai and her crew bewildered.
They were well-trained and experienced soldiers, each of them at the peak of the Body Building Realm, yet they seemed helpless in the presence of seemingly ordinary barren landers.
As they grappled with the shock of their situation, Su Ming's taunting voice echoed.
"Is that all you've got?"
