Chapter 419: The Hundred Races Invade
Jiang He had no idea what a normal ginseng seed looked like, but the one in his palm was the size of a soy bean and gleamed in gold like a golden mind.
He could even clear feel the profound lifeforce growing inside the golden bean.
“It definitely is a mutated seed.”
Putting the bean back where it was, Jiang He smiled. “Old man, where’d you get these beans?”
“My yard.”
The old man took out a pack of Hatamen cigarettes, lit one, and grinned. “Didn’t the government announce that the Feral threat 150 kilometers within Lingzhou City was pacified?”
“Curious as to whether my old house had been trampled over by Ferals, I went back on a bit to find some ginseng blossoming in my yard.”
At that point, the old man appeared to doubt himself and added, “That’s why I dug out these ginseng and brought them back. They told me that these are mutated and could be floral spirits.”
“Oh?”
“You know about floral spirits, old man?”
Jiang He appeared surprised, while the old man appeared smug and said, “I can read and could surf the web. I read about it online.”
“What about the ginseng, then?” Jiang He pressed.
There would always be surprising effects once an average plant mutated, and those ginseng might prove more impressive.
“I sold them.”
The old man replied. “There were five, three of which I sold to the Superpower Research Department and two to the Martial Arts Department (MAD).”
“They didn’t want the ginseng seeds, however.”
“They told me that after mutation, it would not grow with normal planting methods, and it would be useless for them to buy it.”
“Old man, if you know about the floral spirits, then don’t you know that humans could awaken superpowers after consuming it? Even if that doesn’t work, it would solidify a person’s martial arts foundation, at the very least strengthening your body and promoting longevity... but you didn’t keep one for yourself?”
Jiang He asked casually, while the old man shook his head with a pained smiled and replied, “I did, actually. I harvested ten ginseng in the first place, and simmered five of those with carrots, but there was no effect.”
“Just look at my eldest grandson. He ate two, but nothing happened at all.”
Jiang He was dumbstruck.
Woah.
Simmering ginseng with carrots?
This old man was quite something.
Still, why would there be no effect when it was a mutated ginseng?
Jiang He studied the child closely then, noticing that both his talent and physique was plain and ordinary.
Could the ginseng be fake?
Perhaps it wasn’t ginseng?
Still, a thought occurred to him then and Jiang He said, “I’ll take all your ginseng seeds.”
Whether the mutation was real or fake, a single seed had cost a mere ten thousand bucks, and he would not lose anything by buying them. At the very least, he could gather a wave of Farm Points after planting it.
After all...
Wealth meant nothing to Jiang He these days.
“For real?”
Delighted, the old man said, “I have a total of 1,180 seeds, and I’m selling them at ten thousand each. That would be 11.8 million, but I’ll discount it to just 10 million since you are buying everything.”
“Your bank account number.”
Jiang He asked for the old man’s bank account number and transferred 10 million over before gathering the ginseng seeds. After that, he went strolling around Lingzhou City with his two maids and cat and dog, and only returned home around five in the afternoon.
He found a sword flash streaking through the skies towards him after he just reached home, landing at his gates.
It was the Golden Immortal ancestral master from the Ten Thousand Swords Sect, and he came with Jin Sidao in tow.
“Brother Jiang He!”
The Golden Immortal was all smiles and very courteous toward Jiang He.
Jiang He himself had queries for the Golden Immortal anyway, and promptly invited both him and Jin Sidao into the mansion, saying, “Please, have a seat.”
Jiang He and the Golden Immortal sat down, while Jin Sidao walked up and took out a Spatial Ring, saying, “There are five hundred thousand immortal crystals in here which we bought from the immortals of other sects, Mister Jiang. As such, the Scale Dragons and Jiuhua Sect are still owed two hundred and fifty thousand immortal crystals.”
Jiang He was at once overjoyed!
After all, he had planted those immortal crystals before.
He would get one hundred immortal crystals out of each immortal crystal along with a million Farm Points. The Farm EXP he would earn was basically negligible now that it had reached the upper limit, and he was wasting it endlessly every day.
Putting away the five hundred thousand immortal crystals, Jiang He quickly took out three hundred thousand immortal crystals that he had planted and handed them to Jin Sidao, saying, “Here’s three hundred thousand immortal crystals. You can pay them with the agreed two hundred and fifty thousand immortal crystals and keep fifty thousand immortal crystals as a fee for having you running around working errands for me.”
“Thank you, Mister Jiang!”
Jin Sidao was sobbing in gratitude, almost dropping to his knees.
That was fifty thousand immortal crystals...
It’s enough for him to buy a premium-grade immortal flying sword!
At the same time, the Golden Immortal’s eyes were going red.
What the hell!
Fifty thousand immortal crystals...
He only had a little over that amount before that...
Having his own expenses to make, including immortal items, immortal pellets, paper talismans, cultivation manuals, and other things that had cost substantial immortal crystals, his total wealth amounted to five hundred thousand immortal crystals at best, which he had accumulated over untold years.
As for Jin Sidao...
All that junior Mahayana-tier disciple did was run around for a few days to buy immortal crystals from the other sects...
And in those few days, he had earned one-eighth of the Golden Immortal’s own net worth!?
That was not even counting in the commission that dog had earned as a middleman!
Jiang He was buying immortal crystals at a ratio of 1 to 1.5.
Gasp!
At that thought, the Golden Immortal felt a faint sadness.
Before this, Jin Sidao had asked him to come along while he traded with the other sects, even offering a fifty-fifty split of his commission. Not only had the Golden Immortal not agreed to it, but he even refused it virtuously.
“Why would I need rewards for as a disciple in our sect?”
“After watching over our Ten Thousand Swords Sect for more than two thousand years, you would have contributed with effort even if you did not achieve any feats. As such, you may keep all the immortal crystals earned this time.”
That Golden Immortal suddenly had the impulse to slap his own mouth.
Nonetheless, he was a Golden Immortal and soon regained his composure, though Jiang He waved his hand just as he was about to speak...
Whoosh!
Immortal light overflowed in the mansion then, and over a dozen immortal flying swords appeared, floating in front of them.
Aside from the dozen immortal flying swords, there were also eight immortal combat armors.
Jiang He smiled. “Old Jin, you’ve been a great help by running around working on errands for me. So, pick two immortal items aside from the fifty thousand immortal crystals.”
Slap!
Jin Sidao had slapped himself as he cried out in shock. “Am I really not dreaming?”
Jiang He was speechless.
Did he have to go that far?
It was just two inferior-grade immortal items—how much was it worth anyway?
Right now, he had too many immortal items. Of those, a hundred were inferior grade, twenty were mediocre-grade, six were superior-grade, along with three premium-grade ones: the Primordial Bell, the Golden Radiance Sword and the Purple Crystal sword that he had obtained from the Penglai Sect’s Golden Immortal.
Moreover, there were the countless fragments of mediocre-grade and premium-grade immortal flying swords that he had yet to plant after ambushing and killing the elites from several sects...
He definitely would be getting many more premium-grade immortal items and soul treasures after he planted those.
“Sigh...”
“With so many immortal items and soul treasures that I can’t use... well, forget it. I’ll just give them out when I’m free.”
Jiang He was very annoyed.
Later, after some small talk, the Golden Immortal from the Ten Thousand Swords Sect had a change in tone as he cut to the chase and said, “Actually, Brother Jiang He, I have a certain matter to discuss with you today.”
“Oh?”
Jiang He’s gaze shifted to him and he asked in surprise, “What could it be?”
“The Hundred Races’ invasion!”
The Golden Immortal breathed a deep sigh and spoke somberly, “The truth is that we’ve returned here to the homeworld to repel the Hundred Races’ invasion. Now that the dimensions around this planet have been unsealed, the Hundred Races would most definitely invade again, and what happened all those years ago would happened again.”
Jiang He’s expression changed and he exclaimed in shock, “Are you kidding me?”
“I heard that the Hundred Races were so powerful that even a bottom feeder like the Sky Demons had quite a few Golden Immortals and Grand Luo, and there was even a powerful Demi-Saint among their ancestors. The stronger ones would even have Saints among their ranks.”
“How would a ragtag bunch of Golden Immortals, a dozen True Immortals, and hundred or so Heavenly Immortals stop them?”
