After receiving the information, they hurried to the emergency room where Xiao Bao was being attended to by a physician.
"I'm the mother of this child. May I know how he is?" Tang Moyu worriedly asked the doctor.
"Ah, nothing serious, Madam. He just lost his consciousness from the shock. He has a small cut on his temple, which is nothing to worry about. You just need to keep it clean until it heals completely."
Tang Moyu released a breath she didn't know she was holding. She slumped on the chair next to her son's hospital bed and held his tiny hand. She shouldn't have left them today. If it wasn't for her indecision to accept Feng Tianyi, she would've been there and could have prevented it from happening.
When she heard from Auntie Lu that the two most important men in her lives were in trouble, shock and fear immediately overwhelmed her. She had forgotten all her doubts and rushed to the hospital, hoping nothing serious had happened.
Auntie Lu then explained to her and Li Meili regarding the incident back at home and how Mr. Qin tried to save their Young Master from drowning. Tang Moyu had been silent through the older woman's explanation, but Li Meili could tell that the empress was worried about the devil's condition.
The Black Nightingale's mouth curled into a smile. It seemed that the empress had finally made the decision she'd been contemplating on. Ah, now that Tang Moyu finally has someone to love, Li Meili no longer needs to worry about setting her friend up for more blind dates, hoping Tang Moyu's heart will be thawed.
A moment later, Xiao Bao stirred in his sleep and opened his eyes groggily. He turned his head to his side when he felt someone was holding his left hand.
"M-Mommy?" He called out, alerting Tang Moyu.
Tang Moyu stood up from her seat and moved to his side, helping the boy properly sit.
"Mommy, where's Uncle Ji? You have to see if Uncle Ji is alright!" Xiao Bao shook her arm and looked at her pleadingly.
"Uncle Ji must be hurt. He went into the water to save me." His eyes were stung with tears as he remembered what happened. "Wuuuu…. I should have listened to Brother Luo when he said it was a bad idea to check the bridge." His small fist rose to rub his eyes as he bawled out.
Tang Moyu brought him to her chest and kissed his crown.
"It's alright darling, but please don't do it again, alright? You gave Mommy a good scare today." She told him.
She definitely had to provide each of her twins with their own nannies to look after them, just like how Auntie Lu had spent her time with her when she was younger. Her household only had Auntie Lu and two maids to do the housekeeping, but whenever they had free time, they would help to look after her twins too.
If only she wasn't too busy working as a CEO of a struggling company, Tang Moyu wouldn't mind working at home and looking after her twins herself.
"Mommy, can you please look for Uncle Ji?" Xiao Bao asked her. "You have to see if he's okay, Mommy. Please tell Uncle Ji I'm sorry that he was hurt because of me."
He lowered his eyes, his tone filled with guilt.
Tang Moyu sighed and patted his head, reassuring him.
"Alright. Mommy will go see your Uncle Ji, but you stay here with Auntie Lu and Auntie Meili, okay? We have to make sure that your Uncle Ji is okay first before we can bring you home."
The boy nodded his head and promised to wait for them patiently. So long as Mommy would make sure that his Daddy Ji was alright, Tang Feiyu would obediently follow his mother's words.
Li Meili followed Tang Moyu outside for a short talk with her.
"You've made up your mind, haven't you?" She asked the empress, who had a serious expression on her face.
"En." Tang Moyu affirmed.
"You're not going to regret this?" Li Meili asked. Tang Moyu was making a big decision, which would not only change her life, but her children's lives as well.
"Am I supposed to be afraid of the past? Do I really need to deny this little voice in my heart, Meili?" Tang Moyu said in a low voice.
Li Meili had been the only person, before Feng Tianyi, whom Tang Moyu had bared her heart to. Li Meili knew that it took a lot of courage for Tang Moyu to accept the devil in her heart after all the things that had happened in the past. And for the empress to admit this to her best friend, it meant that she had thought it through and was ready to embrace this change in her life.
Li Meili gave her friend a hug, allowing Tang Moyu to show her weakness, even for just a moment. Tang Moyu had to be strong, not because she had a face to save but because she had no one to rely on.
She had no family or lover she could lean on. As for friends, the empress only allowed herself to be surrounded with a few people, so she barely had some to this day. Li Meili was glad that since Moyu's return, she was starting to open up to other people, allowing herself to be truly happy.
