Chapter 306 - Don't Leave Me... (2)

While Tang Moyu tried to understand the sudden change in Feng Tianyi, Xing Yiyue wasn't doing any better with the younger Feng brother. Ever since the event at the Ye Corporation that she and Feng Tianhua attended, her husband had been giving her a cold treatment.

Like today, Feng Tianhua only came home to change his clothes and to take a long shower at home. He didn't even bother to talk to her.

"Are you staying at the company again tonight? Don't you think you are overworking these days?" Xing Yiyue asked him while he buttoned up his dress shirt, facing the mirror in their walk-in closet.

"It can't be helped. There's a lot of things that need to be done. I cannot stay here and day dream. Do you think all that money you've been spending would flow in if I lazily sleep on the bed?" Feng Tianhua sounded displeased, but Xing Yiyue could only bite her lip and feel wronged by her husband.

"Are you still mad at me, darling? I already apologized. What else do you want me to do?" She blurted out in frustration. She'd never expected that Tang Moyu would dare to talk back and turn the table against her.

Feng Tianhua's hand stopped on his top button and shot his wife a glare through the reflection of the mirror in front of him.

"Are you truly sorry for what you've done, Yiyue? Didn't I tell you not to give Moyu anymore trouble? If only you listened to me, you wouldn't lose face in front of everyone!" He snapped at her.

"I…" Xing Yiyue found herself unable to refute his words.

Indeed, not only did he warn her not to cause any trouble, even her mother-in-law told her to stay away from the fallen empress. But why.... Xing Yiyue couldn't understand.

Her eyes stung with tears. Why was everyone siding with Tang Moyu now? Even her own husband wanted to protect the empress.

"Tianhua, are you still mad at me? I told you it was an accident. I didn't mean harm to Sister Moyu back then. I'm not sure where she got the idea." She acted pitifully in front of Feng Tianhua, who only gave her a cold shoulder.

"You know, Yiyue. I always wonder if you hate Moyu that much." He said with a serious tone, resuming what he was doing before he was disturbed by her.

"No!" Xing Yiyue shook her head and followed her husband to the study next to their bedroom. "I-I know she was to be your wife but…"

"But what?" Feng Tianhua shot her another glare. He was starting to think that all of the things happened because of Xing Yiyue's involvement.

He wouldn't have lost Tang Moyu if Xing Yiyue didn't intentionally slip that she overheard about the empress being pregnant with a bastard. Feng Tianhua then thought that Tang Moyu had betrayed him, that she'd chosen another man because she found him weak and not worth her grand status.

Added with the fact that she was more popular and influential than him, Feng Tianhua had been blinded with rage and hatred for the empress. If he didn't destroy Tang Moyu himself, he would be the one being overshadowed and destroyed by her.

No… Feng Tianhua didn't want any of that. The empress whom he loved the most had now become an obstacle in his path. He should have been happy that he was able to get rid of her. But why… why did it hurt when he couldn't see Tang Moyu anywhere near him?

Why did he feel like the gaping hole in his c.h.e.s.t became more apparent and bigger when she went away, in a self exile? Away from him, away from his life.

"Tianhua… I'm your wife, and yet you'd rather believe Sister Moyu's words than mine." Xing Yiyue sobbed on her hand, as tears continued to roll down her cheeks.

"Don't turn this to me, Yiyue. Weren't you the one who sought after Moyu that day? Do you mean to say that I was the one who threw those nonsense words to insult, Moyu? Do you think I'm that blind, Yiyue?!"

Feng Tianhua had enough listening to his wife's nagging, intending to leave home and return to Feng Conglomerate. There was work piling up on his desk and it was never ending. He didn't have any time and energy left to argue with his dimwitted wife, who only knows how to give him headaches.

"It's my fault. It's my fault. I know it now. Please don't be mad at me anymore, darling." She continued to sob. She cannot allow Feng Tianhua to leave like this.

Hadn't she done her best just to become his wife? Hadn't she endured a lot for his sake? The ridicule, his mother's manipulative behavior, being compared to Tang Moyu… Xing Yiyue tried her best to become a wife he could be proud of, but why did she feel like she was losing him instead?

"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I'll do whatever you ask me from now on, just please…" She clutched on him a little tighter. "Please don't leave me. I'll be a better wife from now on."

Feng Tianhua pulled away from her hold and faced her, seeing her eyes reddened with tears. She might not be Tang Moyu, but Xing Yiyue was still his wife. If only Tang Moyu would look at him like this, chase him and profess her love like this… but Feng Tianhua knew it was just wishful thinking on his part.

Why can't Tang Moyu love him like Xing Yiyue does? What was he lacking that the empress had chosen to betray him and spend a night with another man?

"Really? You promise to listen to me from now on?" He pressed, testing her.

"Yes. I'll listen to whatever you say from now on, darling."
