Chapter 398 - Not Giving Her Face (3)
Tang Beixuan wanted to snap right then, but he was forced to reign down his anger, knowing that his sister wouldn't be pleased if the news reached her ears. Of all people, Tang Beixuan was one of those who had watched Tang Moyu on the sidelines.
His sister was initially named as the heiress before him, but when she got betrothed to Feng Tianhua, her importance in the Tang family was gradually reduced.
His ever kind sister, who was always looking out for him and their Wan Jie, even when she knew that no one was paying attention. If there was anyone among the Tang siblings who deserved to inherit the family business, it would be Tang Moyu, since she was the only one with Tang blood running through her veins.
It didn't matter if her mother wasn't Zhang Wuying, because the irrefutable truth that she was a Tang, first and foremost, would outrank him and Tang Wanyu if they were to fight for the inheritance they didn't have any right on in the first place.
Tang Beixuan didn't appreciate that Zhang Wuying was using him and their Wan Jie to gain a foothold in the Tang family. The old woman had never bore a legitimate heir for the Tang family and she didn't want a daughter of another woman to succeed the business.
"What's the matter with you, Beixuan? How could you allow your sister to treat you as badly as this? She took over the management for vested interest. Aren't you concerned about your future? You will lose everything if you let this problem drag any longer!"
"I've heard enough, Mom. Didn't you say you have a meeting today? Go. I don't want to keep you here any longer. Let's talk about it some other time." He told Zhang Wuying before turning to leave, not giving her a chance to speak to him anymore.
Zhang Wuying wanted to say more, but Tang Beixuan had already left her alone in the hallway, returning to his work without looking back at her. She cursed inwardly and marched toward the elevator with annoyance.
When she entered the conference room, Tang Moyu wasn't around and the other shareholders were quarrelling on low voices.
While some had agreed to support Zhang Wuying to oust Tang Moyu, there were still some who didn't find it necessary, since the empress was bringing hefty amounts of money that the company never had for years since Tang Lixue's death.
Some of them were opposing the idea as they feared for their own vested interest if the family management system that was running the company for ages was removed. Tang Enterprise had been run by only Tang family members so far and the idea of allowing a third party to outsource a new CEO didn't seem ideal to their opinion.
Why would they remove Tang Moyu from her position when in fact she was doing a great job in her work. Some of the shareholders were willing to overlook the part where she had cheated her way to secure her position. It might not be morally correct, but she did save the company from bankruptcy, which was not an easy feat for anyone. So, they could understand her intention.
The others were still sitting on the fence, quietly watching the scene unfold in front of them before they made a decision.
"There's no need to replace Tang Moyu yet, all this discussion is prem.a.t.u.r.e and out of place."
"How can you bite the hand of the person who's feeding you?" Another one chimed in. "I know some of you are wary about Tang Moyu, but did you get a hobby of poking the tiger and expecting her not to unleash her claws? So long as you don't provoke the empress, it's a win-win situation to all of us."
Zhang Wuying shook her head and decided to see her unruly daughter herself, but even before she reached Tang Moyu's office, she was intercepted by two guards at the hallway leading to the office.
"We are sorry, Madam Tang, but Miss Moyu specifically told us not to let anyone enter her office without her permission."
The old woman could feel her anger returning, full blown.
"I'm her mother! Don't tell me I'm not allowed to see my own daughter?"
This was ridiculous! Was Tang Moyu not giving her face in front of anyone, to the point that she had reduced her status to a stranger?
"Please wait here, Madam Tang. We will inform Miss Moyu at once." One of the guards informed her.
It didn't take long before she was allowed to enter. She saw Tang Moyu's assistant standing in her area and had looked away from her in fear. Cheng Ning hadn't forgotten how this old woman hurt her and demeaned her boss.
Zhang Wuying scoffed and turned the door handle but it was locked from inside.
"Tang Moyu, get out here at once!" She was tempted to make a scene, but knowing how easily the empress could turn this against her, Zhang Wuying stopped herself.
She heard heels cl.i.c.k.i.n.g on the floor on the other side of the door before it was opened briefly. Zhang Wuying saw Tang Moyu, wearing a three piece suit for women, her long hair tied in a high ponytail with a few strands framing her face.
"Won't you invite me in?" Zhang Wuying asked Tang Moyu, who had chosen to obstruct her by leaning against the door frame.
"I just asked the housekeeping department to clean my office, Mother. I don't really want garbage in my office again." The empress said nonchalantly.
Zhang Wuying's face turned white. Tang Moyu's attitude and demeanor were really hard to counter every time she met her. She heard from Wang Ruoxi that she had met Tang Moyu in Beijing, but had never thought that after months of not seeing each other, the empress's tongue had become sharper and more poisonous.
Zhang Wuying clenched her teeth, then released her breath, but it was rare for Tang Moyu to see her with an embarrassed look.
"Is this how you talk to your mother, Moyu?"
