Chapter 463 - You Promised Me (3)
Under the umbrella that was being held by the empress, the two were protected from the heavy downpour. Feng Tianyi looked down at his wife, wondering what she was thinking at that moment. There was a hint of amus.e.m.e.nt in her eyes that he rarely saw on her.
"He's not you. So why would I be interested in him?" Tang Moyu repeated. She wasn't sure why he was feeling threatened with Yun Zhen when she had never made any indication that she was interested in that man.
Feng Tianyi felt silly when she questioned him like this. A light blush dusted his cheeks as he looked away. How can he forget Gu Yuyao's advice for him to lessen his vinegar eating when it comes to his wife?
"Sorry… I know, I should trust you." He muttered, but it was loud enough for her to hear.
Tang Moyu took his hand with hers and smiled.
"If you know, then why are you still asking? Come. Baobao and Little Star must have been waiting for us." She pulled him along and entered the compound.
The two hurriedly went inside, not wanting to be under the downpour much longer. The moment they entered the front door, their two little buns came running towards them.
"Wait, darling. Let Mommy take her coat off." Tang Moyu stopped her daughter, folded her umbrella and shed her coat.
"Did you wait for too long? Sorry. Mommy and Daddy went out to meet someone." Feng Tianyi said as he bent down and picked up Xiao Bao while Little Star waited for her mommy.
Xiao Bao shook his head and looked over his father's shoulder, staring at their mommy.
"Who is it? Can we also meet them?" The boy asked. "We also just got home, Daddy. Uncle Yan picked us up from school, but he left in a hurry."
Feng Tianyi raised a brow at that. He took a seat on the couch and waited for the girls to follow.
"He left? Did he say where he's going?" He asked.
Xiao Bao tapped his chin with his forefinger then shook his head. "No, Daddy. He just left and drove away."
Their Uncle Yan still acted unusually. He didn't tell them anything and left as soon as he passed their bags to Auntie Lu.
Feng Tianyi pondered for a moment, hoping that his cousin wouldn't do anything outrageous this time. It wasn't in Song Fengyan's character to be reckless, but just like the devil, when he decided on something, he would do his best to stick on it.
He pulled out his phone and dialed his cousin's number, but Song Fengyan didn't answer, even up to his third try. What was going on? Feng Tianyi wondered. If it was related to Xiao Xing or Qing Tian Group, he would probably have heard it by now.
"What's wrong?" Tang Moyu asked. She appeared next to them with Little Star in her arms.
"Baobao said Fengyan left in a hurry and he isn't picking up my call." Feng Tianyi said worriedly. Something must have happened.
"He's probably driving or busy at the moment. Why don't you try calling him again later? I'm sure if he needed your help, he would call you at once, but first let him deal with whatever it is." Tang Moyu suggested to her husband, instantly calming his nerves.
"I guess you are right." He conceded. Song Fengyan wouldn't dare to keep everything to himself, right?
While Feng Tianyi had been worrying about him, Song Fengyan waited patiently outside the laboratory room. His daughter's pink comb was tightly gripped in his hand. When he snapped out from his daze after seeing Lan Xiyan, he remembered that he was still holding his daughter's comb.
There were a few hair strands stuck on the comb's teeth and he prayed desperately that there would be enough samples to run a paternity test between him and Lan Yunru. Every second he waited made him feel uneasy.
What would he do if Lan Yunru was his? Should he claim her custody and separate her from her mother? But remembering how Lan Yunru affectionately talked to her mother, Song Fengyan didn't want to be a bad guy in his daughter's eyes.
It wasn't like he and Lan Xiyan would be able to reconcile anyway. After what she did to him? How would he be able to forgive her for hiding his child from him? Lan Xiyan would never understand the grief and sadness the lie had caused him.
He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. Without concrete proof, he could not make rash decisions that not only could cause problems, but also hurt Lan Yunru in the process.
"Mr. Song?" A laboratory assistant stepped out and called his attention. Song Fengyan stood up at once.
"Ah, I'm glad you're still here. The samples are enough for us to run the test you've requested. It would take a week or two before we could give the conclusive result."
"Thank you for your help." Song Fengyan gave him a curt nod before leaving the place. By this time, his cousin and the empress should have already arrived at home.
Since they were the ones who ran the paternity test between the devil and Tang Moyu's little buns, he was certain that the result wouldn't be tampered by anyone. He sat inside his car and watched as the whole city was drenched in rain, people scampered on the street trying to find shelter from the storm.
The only thing he could hear was the light pattering of the rain on the hood of his car, his hands tightened at the steering wheel. He had no idea what to do yet with Lan Xiyan or his stupid sister, who started this mess in his life.
This time, his attention was caught by the flashing from his phone, seeing several missed calls from the devil, Song Fengyan couldn't stop himself from smiling. No… he wouldn't be facing all of this alone this time.
