Chapter 345: Dimensional Tower [3]
Chapter 345: Dimensional Tower [3]

"How do we go about this?"
"Just turn your mana off. You've got the strongest signature between the two of us."
Apparently, Ash Drakes were hyper–sensitive to mana. For how Brandon was able to kill one, he had no idea.
Most probably, his mana was in its conglomeration phase when he had just entered the simulation.
In any case.
"They're scavengers if I can recall correctly. The problem is, they're picky with their food."
"What do they eat?"
Raven informed and Brandon posed a question. It was really hot. So much so that he felt his shirt stick to his skin.
"Dead things."
"...."

"Code Red! Code Red! There's a massive outbreak happening in the city!"
At the same time, while the examinations were ongoing, there was a sudden problem that emerged.
"What do you mean an outbreak?"
Yi Jihyeon exclaimed once again. She seemed really on edge, a contrast to her stunning appearance.
She, while not so strong, was an excellent leader. Especially during the present, when the Blood Crescent Moon guild was the current top guild.
This stemmed from the fact that Yi Jihyeon was already a famous ranker, the Vice–Guild leader of the previous top guild, Incandescent Flames.
And it had to be said.
Evelyn was an ex–member of Incandescent Flames.
"Monsters are loose all around the city!"
A guild member who had just barged in the room, dampened cold water over the instructors and guild administrators present.
"...."
"...."
A tentative silence befell the room. A silence that Bellion broke as his authoritative voice echoed throughout the room.
"I believe this is under your jurisdiction, Miss Jihyeon. As well as all of you, esteemed Guild Leaders."
While the Imperial Army was responsible for the continent's protection against foreign attacks, monsters were rankers' specialty.
"Haaa…. This is so annoying."
Yi Jihyeon let out a deep heavy sigh as she massaged her temple. Why was she so irritated?
She turned towards Bellion and asked.
"Can I borrow one of your people, Field Marshal?"
"Who?"
"Her."
Yi Jihyeon pointed towards the woman with dark–purple hair, who was busy monitoring the vital status system.
"M-Me?"
A bit flustered, Evelyn pointed at herself. She wasn't that fond of Yi Jihyeon. It was mostly the reason why she never joined Blood Crescent Moon in the first place.
"Yes, you. But I should call you Field Marshal Cessna now, right?"
Yi Jihyeon scoffed.
"Ah, how time passed in a blink of an eye. You were just a child when the guild leader took you in."
"...."
"So, are you in?"

"Of course."
Evelyn had no refusals. Not as if she wanted to abandon her post, but it had been a while since she had used her power.
It was more like a light–stretch exercise for her.
That being said, all the rankers present, including Evelyn left the room, leaving only the Imperial Academy instructors to monitor.

Flap. Flap—
The rhythmic flapping of wings echoed through the oppressive heat of the sun.
The Ash Drake's nostrils flared, catching the faint scent of blood in the air. Licking its lips in anticipation, it prepared to indulge in what would be its first meal of the day.
Of course, this stemmed from the fact that it was just a simulation. So realistically, it was akin to the birth of a new world.
—Hooouu!
Its mouth parted open, emitting a strange sound. The sound of an Ash Drake who had just found its prey.
Or rather, a dead prey, so to speak.
As its gaze shifted down, it saw the sight of a single humanoid figure. Inky–black hair that looked disheveled. Its eyes were closed, but that wasn't enough to trick the Ash Drake.
No, to fully assess whether a creature is truly dead, it needed to smell the scent of dread.
And to its surprise, that was exactly what the Ash Drake was smelling.
Swoosh—!
Its wings dove down gently. The Ash Drake felt itself starting to froth, eager to indulge in fresh food.
Landing gently on the sandy ground, the Ash Drake leaned forward. Opening its beak, its tongue pressed against the humanoid figure's face, licking the blood off clean.
Savoring the taste, the Ash Drake was overjoyed.
The humanoid figure was of refined taste. A taste the Ash Drake had never had before.
In any case.
Bon appetit.
Swoosh—!
Just as the Ash Drake was about to take a big bite, threads suddenly appeared around the figure, wrapping itself around the Ash Drake, immobilizing it in the process.
—Houuu!
Blinking its eyes, the Ash Drake squealed and shook, trying to budge away from the threads.
But alas, it was for naught. With the threads wrapped around its legs, the Ash Drake tumbled down, fear evident in its big wide eyes.
—Houuuu!
As it squealed and retorted, a shadow loomed over him. There, a humanoid figure looked at him. The Ash Drake blinked its eyes profusely, staring at the figure's ink–black eyes that seemed to be devoid of any warmth.
The Ash Drake realized.
It had fallen for a trap.

Brandon stared down at the Ash Drake as he smeared the blood off his form. He had no choice but to become the bait.
After all, according to Raven, whenever Elemental Assimilation was triggered, Brandon reeked of death.
There was no one else more perfect to bait out a scavenger, than him.
For that reason, he purposefully wounded himself, smearing his blood all over his form.
"It's done."
Brandon's mouth opened. Immediately, a figure, not so far from the distance, walked towards him.
It was Raven, who flashed him a wide grin. A face that Brandon could swear, he wanted to punch right now.
"I'll get back at you."
"What did you say?"
Raven said, as he stood next to Brandon, staring down at the poor Ash Drake who couldn't do a single thing.
"Nothing."
Brandon dismissed it. Now was not the time to get back at Raven.
They had decided to give themselves a deadline of four hours for each floor. And for the record, two hours had passed since the start of the examination.
Raven spoke with pride, placing his hands on his waist.
"Now, we wait."
