Chapter 220 Connection
Chapter 220 Connection
?
Councilor Brown stood up from his seat and hurriedly arrived beside the huge bed. With worry in his eyes, he held Bryan's arm and whispered with care. "Son, what's wrong? Are you alright?"
"Call the doctor. Quick!" Councilor Brown bellowed to the man whom he just reprimanded harshly a few seconds ago.
The man did not even hesitate and immediately went out to find the doctor.
At the same time, clarity seemed to have returned to Bryan's eyes as he gazed at his father.
The memory of what happened last night flooded his mind, his facial expression alternated between anger and fear.
He gritted his teeth in anger and said, "Dad, have you found that fucking culprit yet?"
Councilor Brown sighed and shook his head. "Not yet! However, don't worry my son. I'll make sure to find that bastard and make him regret doing that to you!"
Councilor Brown's voice was soft yet contained terrifying anger within. He was truly mad this time. Just who dared to touch his son on his own turf? Who has the courage to do so?
If it was just a normal injury he would not have been this mad. However, Bryan's knee injury was especially severe. It could be said that he would not recover without any special treatment. This means that they did not find a way, Bryan would become bedridden for life and he might live his life sitting in a wheelchair.
"Right, tell me anything about what happened last night. Why were you there? And have you offended some people lately?" Councilor Brown asked with a straight face. He was determined to get to the bottom of this issue for his son.
Bryan let out a long sigh as he started recounting what had happened last night. He trusted his father very much. He did not omit anything and basically recounted all that he encountered, including his plan on 'scaring' Madisson.
The doctor arrived a moment later, after checking Bryan's condition and determining that there was no problem, he hurriedly left, as if afraid of ruining Councilor Brown's mood which seemed to have become better compared to yesterday when he brough Bryan and his classmates over.
Meanwhile, upon hearing the story, Councilor Brown could not help but frown.
He took his phone out of his pocket and dialed a particular number. Upon hearing the default unreachable voice of the operator, he scrolled through his contact and dialed another number.
This time, the call finally went through as a tired male voice was heard.
"Yes Mr. Brown? Rest assured that we are doing our best to search for the culprit behind your son's issue…" the man over the phone explained even before Councilor Brown was able to speak. It was apparent from the tone of his voice that he was afraid of Councilor Brown.
"Haha, Chief Garcia, I know you are doing your best, as you should be, and I know how busy you are," Councilor Brown stated with a light tone, as if his previous anger had never occurred in the first place.
"Right, Chief Garcia. I have a favor to ask if it's alright with you," he continued.
"Of course, Mr. Brown. Just say it, no need for formalities," Chief Garcia answered hurriedly.
"It's like this. The matter still concerned the culprit behind my son's issue. However, I want you to look at this in a different perspective. Before, you speculated that this might be some sort of revenge from some courageous fools who dared to beat my son, right?"
"Right." Chief Garcia nodded his head over the phone.
As the Chief Police Officer in-charge in Fore City, he was pretty familiar with this kind of case. Especially since he knew for himself what kind of person Bryan was, hence his first speculation over the matter was that this was some sort of revenge.
Given enough time and proper investigation, Chief Garcia was confident in finding the culprit behind this kind of act as the number of suspects can be narrowed easily. Of course, depending on who the avenger was, the complexity of the case would change as well.
However, this case was truly too sudden. As a matter of fact, his department was still quite busy with another case at this moment as well. Their plate was already full from the arson that happened just a day ago as well. They were pressured by the masses to find the culprit immediately due to the invisible threat that they could feel from the culprit behind the cruel arson.
And now with the pressure coming from Councilor Brown, Chief Garcia was truly at the end of his wits this time, not knowing what case to prioritize first.
On one hand was the voice of the masses, while on the other was the Chief Garcia who was behind his promotion years ago. One wrong move and he knew that his career would be over just like that. In fact, he had actually not slept ever since he received Councilor Brown's late call last night.
"However, what if this was not an act of revenge at all and just some random act? For example, what if the one who dared to beat up my son was the one who made the arson as well? What if the two were actually connected?"
The moment Councilor Brown's convincing voice was heard, Chief Garcia's pupil immediately contracted as if he realized something he had not considered before.
"If that's the case, then we could probably focus on the case of your son and breakthrough from the arson case," Chief Garcia said with a matter of factly tone.
"Haha. Good. Good. That's what I like about you!" Councilor Brown's hearty laugh was heard.
"Right, there's another matter. I want you to investigate this newly established business, Sparkling Buds, see if we can use some dirt on them." Councilor Brown stated.
"Also, try to search for Razor's whereabouts as well. He was supposed to protect and be used by my son. However, he was nowhere to be found even until now. If you find him, tell him that if he doesn't show up, I'll make sure that he won't be able to leave this city ever again." He added.
Chief Garcia hissed silently hearing the threat, "Alright, Mr. Brown!"
A deep sigh was heard after he ended the call with Mr. Brown.
"Connected my ass!"
