Chapter 239 Real Intentions
Chapter 239 Real Intentions
?
"At least, not for the time being," Dean Castro continued after a slight pause.
"You don't need to explain anything. I know full well what kind of a person your classmate is, so I don't blame you for retorting back."
Hearing that, Roland could not help but be surprised.
He thought that this was another case of a teacher running to save the bully after the bullied snapped back, however, hearing Dean Castro's words, that seemed to not be the case this time around.
He never expected to hear those words from Dean Castro.
With how Teacher Ted was acting yesterday, ignoring Roland and everyone else, it was already apparent whose side he was on. Hence, Roland was surprised by Dean Castro's calm demeanor.
"However…"
It seems that he has not finished talking yet. Roland focused his attention about what he was going to say next.
"However, it is clear that you have offended someone you shouldn't have for such a small matter."
"To be honest with you, Councilor Brown has already called me yesterday regarding this matter."
Hearing that, Roland was not surprised. As the number one Councilor, it was only normal for people like Councilor Brown to have the contacts of the influential people in Fore City.
"He wants you expelled…" Dean Castro continued.
Roland's eyes constricted the moment he heard those words. Although he already considered such a scenario to happen, he still did not expect that Councilor Brown would request it himself just like that.
Was he really that influential in Fore City? Does he really have the power to expel a student just because he says so over a minor scruple?
"Of course, I did not agree to his request," Dean Castro chuckled after a slight pause.
"Although I can agree that Fore City College won't be here without the support of the politicians, it doesn't mean that they could do as they please here. In anycase, you are one of my top scholars of Fore City College. Something like this is just a trivial matter."
"Of course, doing so would result in me getting the bad books of Councilor Brown," he continued as he leaned back on his chair.
Roland nodded his head and found the possibility of such a thing happening was quite high with Councilor Brown's attitude. Regarding that, it was clear that Dean Castro was trying to 'shield' him from Councilor Brown.
At first, Roland was also puzzled as to why Dean Castro was showing his goodwill towards him.
Was it worth it for him to offend Councilor Brown just to 'save' a student like him?
"Hence, in exchange, I want you to do something for me," Dean Castro said, finally revealing the real purpose of his goodwill towards Roland.
Although he has some hidden intentions, Roland actually felt relieved that it was this way.
He did not know Dean Castro personally prior to this incident. Hence, it would be baffling if he showed him such good intentions without anything in exchange.
What Roland had learned from the ways of the top people during these past few days was that they would do nothing for free. Everything has to have an exchange, whether it was money, promises or connections. Nothing was free in the eyes of the top people.
"Thank you for your help, Mr. Castro. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but if it's within my capability, then I would gladly help," Roland said.
In truth, Roland was truly not afraid of being expelled. However, he knew that it would be quite troublesome, so Dean Castro's 'help' this time was timely. Aside from that, he could also use this opportunity to get to know Dean Castro better.
He can refuse Councilor Brown and was not afraid of attracting his ire, Roland guessed that he must also be a formidable person in society. Perhaps, he was not limited to being a Dean alone. bender
Dean Castro smiled, "Being modest is also a skill. Continue being one and you will surely reach high in the future."
"Anyways, what I wanted you to do is actually quite simple. It's regarding the newly opened restaurant not far from the school, the Sparkling Buds."
Roland focused his attention upon hearing that this was about Sparkling Buds.
Sparkling Buds was quite important to him, as it was one of his springboards to enter the business world.
"I heard that you are now working there?" Dean Castro asked.
"Sort of?" Roland replied ambiguously. He was the owner there, so it could be said that he was also his own worker.
As for how Dean Castro found out that he was 'working' there, Roland guessed that one of the teachers or the students might have spotted him there frequently.
"In that case, this would make this matter even more simple," Dean Castro stated as he clapped his hands, seemingly in joy.
"Anyways, I have a friend who wants to meet your boss. Aside from him, I also wanted to meet the owner of the restaurant myself. I have tasted the fried chicken there before and I must admit that it was one of the best of what I have eaten in my whole life."
"So, if possible, can you make an appointment for us and your boss?" Dean Castro continued with extra enthusiasm. His previous scholarly vibes disappeared upon the mention of the Fried Chicken of Heaven.
"Don't get me wrong. We have actually tried to ask the other employees but they would simply say that the owner was not there, and that the manager is busy and won't entertain unscheduled visitors at all."
"As for the vice manager there, I have met him before. I know him from Mac Jonalds previously. It was actually through him that we learned that you were fired from Mac Jonalds as well and that it was you who helped him get a job in Sparkling Buds."
Roland nodded his head upon hearing that. It finally dawned on him as to why Dean Castro thought that he would be suitable for the job. They might have thought that he has some sort of 'connection' with the 'boss' for being able to help Gustav take the vice manager position there.
