Chapter 171 Flame That Expel Shadow
Chapter 171 Flame That Expel Shadow
?
Byron and Solomon fought Shadow. They used spells, covered each other's backs, and tried to wound their opponent, but no matter how hard they tried, Shadow was gone every time. They just couldn't catch him, he was always a few steps ahead.
'Damn... This is bad... If my father had the ability he would destroy this monster in one spell, but...' Rea muttered inwardly as she looked at the frightened students, 'He and Byron are severely limited, they can't act at full strength...'
Rea tried to think of something, she wanted to help her father somehow, as she understood that the Mages never won in a battle of exhaustion. Once they ran out of mana, it would be equal to Shadow's complete victory.
"Solomon, we need to find another place!" Byron exclaimed, launching an ice cone at Shadow.
"I agree... but... I don't think our opponent is that stupid." Solomon frowned, emitting electric shocks from his fingers.
Shadow was stiff, needing to jump high up to dodge his attacks, but instead, he stayed put as the fog surrounding him became much denser.
Whoooooosh.
The lightning and ice cone collided with Shadow, but, they just passed through him like he was a ghost, then Shadow split into two phantoms that attacked Solomon and Byron.
"What the hell...?" Byron muttered in disbelief as the phantom was right in front of him, swinging its claws. The second phantom did the same.
"Hah, bastard, I'm not going to back down!" Byron smirked as he took a step forward. He took a deep breath, and the moment the phantom's claws were about to sink into his flesh, he exhaled an icy stream of air that came down on the phantom, like a violent blizzard.
The cold froze everything in front of him, covering the ground with a thick ice layer and turning the phantom into a statue.
"Solomon! I stopped one!" Byron exclaimed, turning to his mate.
Solomon nodded, "Good job. I'll end this right now!" Solomon struck the staff on the ground as a massive magical circle appeared beneath the phantom, emitting powerful electrical discharges.
"ARGH!!!" The phantom exclaimed, struggling to withstand the attack, but Solomon had no intention of stopping as he immediately cast another spell. Unlike Byron, his mana reserves were nearly full, he could use far more than his exhausted friend.
The lightning was tearing the phantom apart, slowly turning it into nothing, it seemed that Shadow was about to lose one of his halves.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
Cracks began to form on the frozen statue as the phantom quickly destroyed it, approaching the other in a flash, Byron didn't even have time to realize what had happened.
"Fuck!" Byron exclaimed furiously clenching his fists.
The two phantoms merged into one, transforming into Shadow again. However, he didn't step out of the electric field, instead, he dug his claws into the ground and began to absorb the lightning, consuming all the energy.
Solomon frowned, "You think you can take that? The previous monster just exploded from an overload of energy!"
"Agh... Yeah... But... I'm much stronger..." Shadow wheezed, struggling to withstand the pressure that passed through his body, however, gradually the situation was getting better for him.
White flashes of energy ran through Shadow's body like veins, but, he successfully absorbed them as his aura increased.
"Well, this was a serious mistake anyway." Solomon with a cold stare pointed his staff at Shadow and launched a powerful lightning bolt at him.
Shadow couldn't take his claws out of the ground before fully absorbing the energy as well as staying on the spot since then lightning would just kill him.
Whooooooooooosh.
The lightning just flew through Shadow's body, just like the last time. It collided with the nearest tree, exploding and destroying everything around it.
The shock waves with the wind currents were so powerful that the students had to cover their faces with their hands and hold on to something to keep them from being thrown aside.
"Good... That's enough..." Shadow muttered as he removed his claws from the ground and took a step forward. Lightning discharges emanated throughout his body, and the fog grew thicker around him as if to show his increased power.
Solomon frowned, but he didn't panic. He'd been through many battles and was prepared for different outcomes. His eyes grew deeper as if he wanted to see something inside Shadow.
"What the hell...?" Solomon muttered as a shiver ran through his body. Amidst the pure darkness, he could now see several Second Rings, which meant Shadow's considerable empowerment.
"Hey, you shouldn't be distracted from the fight." Shadow whispered, in a heartbeat coming up behind Solomon.
Solomon swung his staff, attacking sharply, but, Shadow easily stopped his attack, which earlier had managed to explode the giant spider's head.
"Looks like... Now you're at a disadvantage..." Shadow muttered, sinking his claws into Solomon's belly.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Shadow's claws touched Solomon's mantle as all the runes glowed brightly on it. The dense barrier fought against the claws, trying to prevent them from passing, which would have been critical damage to Solomon.
All the energy concentrated in one point, the tremendous pressure shattering the barrier with a powerful explosion that tossed Solomon and Shadow aside.
Shadow did a somersault and landed on his feet with ease, ready to make his next attack right now.
"Shit!" Solomon exclaimed, rising from the ground with a grimaced face.
Rea bit her lip. Solomon was one of the strongest mages if he could use his most destructive spells without restriction, but he was bad at defense compared to other mages who concentrated on it.
'This monster is clever... He knows that frightened students are his greatest advantage because of which Solomon must hold back.' Rea clenched her fists tightly, she wanted to lead the students away, but they weren't ready to leave split rock.
Step. Step. Step.
Shadow was approaching Solomon, choosing the right moment to attack, but, just as he got close enough, he flinched and jumped sharply to the side.
As Shadow's feet moved off the ground, a massive whip of flame rained down on this spot, shaking the earth.
