Chapter 194 The Solution
Chapter 194 The Solution
?
Alice's hands burst into bright flames as she was about to destroy the energy flows to open the capsule. However, before she could step forward, Alex stopped her with a wave of his hand.
"Hmm? Is something wrong?" Alice frowned, she didn't understand why Alex was in her way.
"I agree with you, we have to stop it, but let me do it. Given the skill you're using you'll destroy the capsule and do some serious damage to Zayne as well as destroy the whole room. I doubt he'll want to talk to you after that." Alex said seriously, staring intently at the seals floating in the air.
Alice narrowed her eyes, "Then what's your plan? Do you really mean to tell me that there's some other way to stop this capsule?"
Alex nodded as water blades appeared around his palms, "Yeah, I don't need to destroy it, all I have to do is make it stop working. After all, the capsule runs on electricity, and even that energy can't do anything about it."
Whoooooooooosh.
Alex rushed forward, dodging several attacks from the red streams, and putting his palms against the capsule. Through the cracks, water headed inward, then a multitude of sparks burst out of it, flying apart.
The energy currents trembled, it seemed they didn't want to leave this world and had to complete their mission, however, without a working capsule, that was simply impossible.
...
Crackle. Crackle. A crackle.
A loud sound, like an electric shock, rang through Zayne's head as he woke abruptly. He did not understand what was happening, for he was still in his room, all was quiet, but not in his head.
[Error!]
[Error!]
[Error!]
[Error!]
[Error!]
Zayne did not understand what was happening, but gradually the pain in his head grew stronger as well as the noise that swallowed up all other sounds. Then, his body was engulfed by energy flows, like a vortex capable of sweeping away everything in its path.
In a second there was no one left in Zayne's room, he simply disappeared, but that was not how it happened when he left Fallen Fate at will.
...
"Argh!!!" Zayne exclaimed greedily inhaling air as he woke up in the real world, in an already broken capsule.
He looked around and saw three silhouettes standing in front of him with complicated faces.
"Alex...? Galahan...?" Zayne muttered, then he looked at Alice. He wasn't familiar with her, but they had met once before, and he remembered that, "Wait... You're that weird girl from the store."
They were silent, giving to Zayne time to get used to what had happened. He slowly stepped out of the capsule, looking around. Footprints on the floor showed that someone had fought here, though Alex, Galahan, and Alice were not injured.
"Zayne... I think you need an explanation, and we need to talk to you about something." Alex said calmly, not knowing what Zayne's reaction to what had happened would be.
Zayne remained silent, then he simply nodded. He knew that Galahan and Alex wouldn't come to him without a good reason, especially in the middle of the night.
...
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
The four men sat at the table, each with a cup of tea in front of them, steam emanating from them. Alex drank the tea along with the cookies he had shared with Zayne since he was hungry.
"Well... This is all really weird." Zayne muttered with a thoughtful expression.
They told him about everything that had happened up to this point, the reality of dying after using Chaos Coin, the news, the alliance, and what had happened to his capsule.
"However, it makes sense on some level." Zayne sighed before taking a sip of tea.
"Hmm? What are you talking about?" Alice gave him a questioning look.
"Isn't it obvious?" Zayne shrugged, "We became much stronger with stats, after using Chaos Coin the line between the two worlds became quite blurred. Now we can use skills, but in return, death in Fallen Fate became real."
Zayne broke the cookie, looking at its two parts with a deep look, "We should have expected that world to try to enter ours or something. There's no telling what would have happened to me if you hadn't disabled the capsule, but I think it would have been a logical extension of the situation we all find ourselves in."
Alice crossed her arms across her chest, "In that case, Zayne, what would be your answer? Do you mind if I join your team?"
Zayne was silent for a while, then he popped the cookie pieces into his mouth, swallowed, and looked up at the ceiling with a calm gaze.
"Honestly, I don't care. When I started playing Fallen Fate none of this was my goal, however, I won't give up what I have now. Being rich is much better than being poor. Being strong is so much better than being weak. And knowing what's going on with the world is far better than being in the dark." Zayne muttered quietly.
Alice wanted to say something, but Zayne interrupted her, "If you want to be my ally I don't mind, however, my opinion of you may change very quickly."
Zayne turned his head, staring at Alice with eyes as cold as ice, "If you harm my sister, you will become my greatest enemy. If our principles differ greatly, the same fate will befall our relationship."
Alice gulped, she did not expect Zayne to be such a tough person, however, she was not afraid and was not upset, on the contrary, a satisfied smile appeared on her face.
"Fine, that's an answer I'm quite happy with. About the capsule, since we came here because of me, I will take care of it. You'll already have a new one in the morning, so you can get back to Fallen Fate pretty quickly." Alice waved his hand.
Zayne nodded silently.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Suddenly Alice's phone began to vibrate as she received numerous messages, a few seconds later a similar thing happened to Alex's and Galahan's phones, but in smaller volumes.
"Hmm?" Zayne raised an eyebrow puzzled.
"Fuck... Looks like it's going to be more serious than I thought..." Alex muttered with a complicated expression.
Alice frowned, "It's only been two hours since the nightly news, but it was enough to cause real chaos in the city."
"Zayne... Come here, you have to see this." Galahan called him over to him.
Zayne stood behind Galahan, looking into his phone, which was now playing some kind of video. On it, several people were fighting each other using the skills they had gained in Fallen Fate. Gradually the scale grew as their random attacks destroyed several cars.
"Holy shit... What is wrong with these people?" Zayne muttered with his eyes wide open. He couldn't believe what he was seeing.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Suddenly the ground trembled as a powerful explosion was heard outside as if a bomb had fallen right into the city.
Zayne, Alice, Alex, and Galahan quickly ran outside, they had to figure out what had happened.
"Fuck... This was my favorite one..." Alex muttered looking at the massive flame that was left behind when the nearest gas station exploded. Dense streams of black smoke emanated from it, some of which had already reached Zayne's house.
"Well... Looks like the government is going to have to do some serious work to calm them down." Alice shook her head, realizing how much of a headache she was going to have in the next few days.
Alex smirked, "Hah, aren't you one of them? The problems have started, so you have to deal with them somehow, don't you?"
Alice took a deep breath, called someone, and after a few short sentences, hung up.
"Sure. We've been prepared for this. The police should already be on the ground, then we'll use SWAT or even special army units." Alice said calmly, which scared Zayne a little. He didn't want this town to turn into one big battlefield.
Galahan frowned, "Alice, be serious, say everything. Obviously, using the army isn't the last option the government has prepared, is it?"
Zayne and Alex turned to Alice curiously. She had a calm look on her face that soon had a smirk on it.
"Damn, Galahan, you're right. The government was one of the first to know about Fallen Fate, so we prepared for this moment. If we had told people right away we wouldn't have had time to prepare, but we had plenty of time for that." Alice said confidently.
"The government has prepared a special squad made up of those who have accomplished a lot in Fallen Fate since launch. We spent a lot of money to accelerate their progress, but it was definitely worth it. We called them Squad Alpha," Alice grinned, "Several of the squad members are already on their way here."
Galahan nodded deeply with his arms crossed over his chest, he knew it was necessary.
Alex turned to Alice with a frantic smile, "Hey, how strong are they? That's pretty interesting."
Alice frowned, "One on one they can't handle you. However, you'll have a hard time standing up to three or four, of course, that could change over time."
Alex smirked as he glanced at Zayne, "What about him? I'm sure they don't stand much chance against Zayne."
