Peter didn’t bother to take Denise’s question seriously. “If it weren’t for a mother like you, how could Sophie be what she is today? Instead of reflecting on your own problems, you blame me. Denise, you really haven’t changed a bit over the years.”

He thought, you never think you have a problem. No matter what happens, it is always the other person who is at fault, not you.

Denise’s face was pale. She wanted to refute him, but she could not find a reason to.

Seeing that, Peter continued, “Don’t think that you have your family backing you up. Let me tell you something. No matter how much they protect you, they won’t offend me because of you. It seems that even after all these years, you still fail to realize that.”

The Brynn family might be happy to help Denise regarding some trivial matters, but it wasn’t because she was part of them. Instead, it was because she was the hostess of the Gainsford family, and they helped her for the sake of the Gainsford family.
