Chapter 97

“I thought they wouldn’t invite you.” Saul curled his lips and said unhappily, “Was it that bastard, Jalen, who invited you?”

“No, it was Mr. Halton.” After all, she was Jalen’s ex–wife. Moreover, she had a good relationship with Nitzan before, so it was normal for him to invite her.

When Saul heard this, he was somewhat unhappy. “I didn’t expect you to have a good relationship with Mr. Halton.”

“Yes, not bad.” Elaina nodded.

It became silent. Saul glanced at her and said, “Then I will pick you up on time tomorrow. Is that okay?”

“Okay.” Elaina agreed. She did not want to go back on what she had promised.”

After that, Saul got up. Just as he walked to the door, he heard Elaina suddenly ask, “Actually, I have always been curious. What is the grudge between you and Jalen?”

She had never heard of a grudge between the Halton family and the Judson family before. But Saul looked as if the grudge between the two families was quite big, so she was curious.

Saul’s hands trembled slightly. It seemed that he had thought of something bad. His face was extremely ugly, and he did not speak for a long time.

“Sorry, if you don’t want to say it, you don’t have to say it.” She was just asking. She did not expect

Saul to have such a big reaction.

After a long silence, Saul turned around and sat down in front of Elaina. He said slowly, “Do you have wine?”

“This is the hospital.” Elaina reminded him.

“Then you can get me a cup of water.” Saul rolled his eyes at her, thinking that this woman was not smart at all. He did not know what Jalen liked about her.

Elaina got up, got him a cup of water, and placed it in front of him.

Saul picked up the water and took a sip. Only then did he feel much better.

“In fact, we have no grudges. I just hate the Halton family. If he is not from the Halton family, I will not compete with him,” he said slowly.

Elaina held her chin, looking confused.

After drinking some more water, Saul continued, “It is said that I killed my father, but no one knows that he was dying long ago. When my mother ran away with Jalen’s father, my father was already dying.

“After my mother ran away, my father vented all his anger on me. He drank every day and hit me when he was drunk.”

Speaking of the past, Saul suddenly felt no pain. He acted like an outsider recalling the past.

“So, I was not sad at all when he died. Instead, I was prepared in advance. When he died, I would immediately take over the Judson family. As a result, those people thought that it was my plan.”

Elaina was shocked, especially when she heard Saul say that her mother ran away with Jalen’s father.

What a drama!

After drinking a cup of water, Saul put away the sadness on his face and said to Elaina mysteriously, “Do you know that Jalen is afraid of the dark?”

Elaina nodded. “Yes.”

Saul was surprised. He didn’t expect her to know, but he didn’t ask more. Instead, he said, “Then do you know why he is afraid of the dark?”

Elaina shook her head.

Saul stood up and leaned close to her ear.

Elaina was curious and was waiting for Saul to tell her the reason. She did not see the cunning flash in his eyes at all.

He suddenly lowered his head and kissed Elaina’s hair.

Elaina retreated abruptly and looked at him with horror. “What are you doing?”

“Sorry, I couldn’t help it,” he said with a smirk.

Elaina’s face turned dark. If not for that they were in the hospital, she would have kicked Saul’s ass. She didn’t want to make a scene there.

Saul walked toward the door and waved at her.

Elaina was still thinking about the reason and asked, “You haven’t told me why.”

“I won’t tell you,” Saul said slyly.
