Chapter 211

Jalen listened to her and let Alisha go. But Alisha did not move.

Alisha believed that Elaina would mean it and slap her again if Alisha came any closer.

Alisha cried out in grievance. This really hurt her feelings.

She turned around and ran to Deven, crying and shouting, “Deven… I feel like hell…”

Deven looked at her flushed cheeks and felt distressed. He glared at Elaina. “Elaina, do you think you can get away with it? My family can make you pay!”

“Mr. Stein, be careful. She claimed I hit her first. How could I let her slander me like that? But now I can admit that I hit her.” Elaina threw up her hands, indicating that she was forced.

“Elaina!” Deven roared in a low voice, but that was the only thing he could do because Jalen was

there.

Elaina shrugged, looking indifferent. “Mr. Stein, I understand your love for Alisha,

“What do you mean?” Deven frowned.

Elaina did not intend to tell him. She looked at Jalen beside her and said, “Let’s go somewhere.

else.”

“Okay.” Jalen nodded and walked out of the restaurant with Elaina.

It was not until the two were far away that Alisha’s crying grew louder. “Deven, they went too far. I’m not swallowing their insult!”

“But Alisha, Jalen has got her back. We… can’t do anything to her.” Deven also felt that Elaina had gone too far, but he didn’t think he could handle the Halton family.

Alisha was not surprised at Deven’s response and continued, “So what if the Halton family will come at you? You are the young master of the Stein family, and you are no worse than Jalen.’

Although Alisha’s remark stoked his ego, Deven had to be realistic. “My dad won’t agree.”

Deven knew that he didn’t have a good chance of winning against the Halton family. He understood what his father would do.

“Deven, your parents have never liked me. I know they won’t stand up for me, but… I want you to protect me.” Elaina looked at him with expectation and sadness.

“But I…” Deven was helpless. He was not the one who had the final say in the Stein family.

Alisha immediately said, “You are the eldest son. You should have taken over the company long

ago.

Your parents will retire. You can’t rely on them forever.

“Both Jalen and Saul are put in charge of their family businesses at a young age. They are no better than you. Why haven’t you tried to do the same?

“If you don’t have the confidence, I can help you. You knew my ability when I worked for the Lory family. I guarantee that the business will fare much better in a short time with my help. By then even Jalen will not be your match.”

Perhaps in Elaina’s view, Alisha intended to frame her today, but what Alisha was trying to do was to push Deven to take over his family business. Otherwise, Alisha wouldn’t accomplish anything as Deven’s parents remained in control.

To go against Elaina, Alisha had to get control of the Stein family first.

“Can I do it?” Deven was uncertain.

“With me here, you can!”

Alisha nodded at him. She knew that he was moved and continued, “You have to learn to protect me. Deven, you promised not to let anyone hurt me when we got married.”
