The ringtone startled Elaina and Jalen. Elaina came to her senses and leaned away to avoid Jalen.
“Theodore, what’s wrong?” Elaina picked up the phone.
“Where are you? Are you OK?” Theodore asked anxiously from the other end of the line.
Elaina frowned and realized there was something wrong with Theodore. “What’s wrong,
Theodore?”
“Nothing.” Theodore did not know what to say.
“Theodore, what happened?” Elaina was not silly. Judging from Theodore’s tone, she knew
something must be wrong.
Theodore fell silent. After a while, he said, “Nothing serious. I just had a quarrel with Sue. She
might have some misunderstandings. I am afraid she will come to you.”
“Had a quarrel with Sue?” Elaina could hardly believe that. She had never seen Theodore quarreling
with anyone.
“Just a misunderstanding. Anyway, ignore her and don’t take her words seriously if she comes to you,” Theodore said in worry.
Elaina did not know what had happened between Theodore and Sue, so she only agreed and did not
say much.
After hanging up the phone, Elaina put away the phone and turned to Jalen, who was looking at her.
“Theodore?”
Elaina nodded. “Yes.”
“He called at the right time.” Jalen could not help but ridicule. He hated Theodore so much..
Elaina ignored Jalen and seemed to have calmed down. “Send me home.”
“Ella, just now…”
“Send me home,” Elaina interrupted Jalen with a louder voice. She looked angry, but her flamed
cheeks revealed her innermost emotions.
Jalen did not say anything more. He started the car and drove to Elaina’s apartment.
Not long after, the car stopped at the entrance of the apartment. Elaina was about to open the door and get out of the car, but Jalen stopped her. “Ella, I apologize to you for Jenica. I am not begging you to forgive me immediately. However, I hope you don’t push me away.”
“Well,” Elaina responded emotionlessly.
Then, she got out of the car and went into the community.
In the elevator, Elaina thought about Jalen’s words and wondered whether she should believe him.
When the elevator stopped, Elaina walked out and went to the door of her home.
To Elaina’s surprise, a woman was standing at the door. The woman seemed to have been there for

“Sue?” she said in confusion.
Theodore had called to tell Elaina that Sue might come to her, and Sue did come.
“Well, I thought you dared not come back,” Sue snorted. She folded her arms and glared at Elaina.
Elaina was more puzzled. “Why do I dare not to come back? What do you mean?”
“Don’t you understand?”
Sue smiled and went up to Elaina. “It’s just the two of us here. There is no need to pretend.”
“Why do I need to pretend?” Elaina was angry. Sue used to be nice to her. She didn’t know why Sue treated her as a foe at that moment.
Elaina refused to admit anything. Seeing that, Sue got angrier. “What happened between you and Theodore? He is your brother. You are so shameless by doing that to him.”
