Chapter 701 Kiss or kill?
"What the fuck just happened!!" Joshua stood as soon as he noticed the two men walking out of the canteen as though nothing had happened a few moments ago. "I thought they would start fighting each other, and I would get to see an exciting scene, blood would spill and I would enter in as a hero and bring peace between the two."
Ivy too was surprised by the turn of events and kept looking in the direction the two men had gone. But the moment she heard Joshua's absurd words, her eyes narrowed and she glared at him, not hiding her annoyance whatsoever.
"Are you out of your freaking mind?" She hissed, making sure to keep her voice as low as possible. Already, people were pointing fingers at them and she did not wish to gain more attention from them. "Do you want them to quarrel and battle with each other?"
Joshua sensed Ivy's fury from her tone and he backed off immediately. "Hey, calm down." His voice deflated and he took a few steps back. "I was just joking. It's not that I want them to fight, no. I was just..." He scratched his head awkwardly, trying to find the appropriate words to calm the tigress in front of him.
"Considering the tension and animosity in the air, I thought they would at least have a war of words. But here....the situation just changed beyond what I had expected." Joshua's brows furrowed in disbelief and he lowered his head as he thought about all that had happened some time ago.
"I'm wondering the same too. What the hell just happened and what were Dad and Mr. Carter even talking about?" Ivy's anger vanished like vapor and she pursed her lips. "Did you hear what they were talking about?"
"No, I have no idea. They were too discreet and impossible to listen to. It was as if they were speaking softly on purpose. I could not even read their lips, not even Dad's."
Joshua's words elicited a response from Ivy and she raised her brows in surprise. "Do you know lip reading?"
"Yeah..." Joshua replied as if it was a question never meant to be asked. He looked at Ivy as though he was looking at a fool before he composed his expression. But then, he realized that he had overreacted in time before Ivy could flare up again.
"It was one of the many things we were trained in when we were young. It is helpful in a lot of situations."
"But not this time." Ivy's response was immediate. "You could not read their lips this time."
It was now Joshua's turn to glare at her and Ivy did not move her eyes away as she faced him head-on.
"Why are you glaring at me?" Ivy gave him a poker face in return. "Accept it; your talent was useless this time. You could not read the two men."
"Hey, at least you accepted that I'm talented." Joshua grinned and Ivy rolled her eyes in frustration.
"You are unbelievable." Ivy groaned and stomped her foot in anger.
"I know, I know. But I'd be glad if you said the same when we are doing some things in bed. It would motivate me more." Joshua winked at her, and Ivy instantly brought her hands close to his neck.
"How I wish I kiss you. Ughh!!"
"What did you just say?" Joshua stood frozen in his spot and blinked at her, his eyes filled with hope while his lips curved up slowly.
"What did I say?" Ivy was still oblivious to what had happened and what she had said in her momentary loss of control.
"Did you just say you want to kiss me?" Joshua raised his brows playfully. "Yes, you did. I did not hear you wrong."
It was only then that Ivy realized what she had spoken before and she wanted to slap her tongue. 'How the hell did kill become kiss? What was I even thinking? Stupid, Ivy. Stupid, stupid, stupid.'
"Tell me, tell me. Do you wanna kiss me? Are you that desperate?" Joshua did not give up and moved closer to her immediately, maintaining a small space between them to keep the watchful eyes around him from gossiping more. Already, they had become the center of everyone's attention. He did not wish for them to start speaking badly about him or Ivy, especially Ivy.
"We could go home right now and you can kiss me all you want. I am at your service, baby." Joshua waved his hand in front of him dramatically as though he was offering himself to Ivy. "What do you say? Do you want to take this offer? It's exclusively for you and you alone. You may do whatever you want with me. I am all yours."
"Are you done?" Ivy folded her hands and stared at him as though she was looking at a moron. "Or do you still have more nonsense to say? Of course, you may say everything at once. I do not want to hear you going all crazy again."
"Hey." Joshua pouted lightly. "I was not saying anything nonsensical. It's the truth and I will say it again and again. And before you start complaining and scolding me, remember who started it first. Remind me who was the one who stated that she wanted to kiss me."
"I think your ears are playing games with you." Ivy averted her gaze away from him for a brief moment, unable to tolerate the intensity in his eyes. "I said kill, not kiss you. I want to kill you not kiss you."
"Are you sure that was what you said?" Joshua was not the one to accept defeat easily and not caring about the people around him this time, he stepped closer to her.
"Yeah. And why are you coming this close to me? We are at the hospital. Behave!!" Ivy warned and moved back.
"I would have shown you what would have happened if we were at home instead of the hospital. I would have kissed you as wanted, no strings attached."
"It was kill. K..I..L..L. Did you hear me? Kill. I want to kill you. Not kiss you." Ivy's annoyance got the best of her and she spat before she walked away from him. "You are so annoying. I need to leave before I lose my mind."
